《3 Stepbrothers》Dinner with Chief

Tori's POV
I was in my room getting ready for dinner. Chief wasn't here yet but he will be soon.
I put on a nice pair of jeans and a green plaid button down. When I was done I headed downstairs to find Suzie in a sundress and Lilly in a dress as well.
Suzie's sundress was a nice yellow with some white daisies around it. And Lilly's dress was a simple black dress that reached a little above the knees. I looked back down at my clothes for a second and smirked.
I am not putting on a dress. Ain't nobody got time for that.
The guys came downstairs each of them wearing a button down polo. Blake's was a navy blue, Cole's was a striped blue and white, and Shawn's was a black. Dad came out in a freaking suit but nobody laughed because this is his boss.
Lilly was already preparing the food and Suzie was watching. She told Suzie the ingredients and how to put them in and stuff. Lilly looked like a person from the cooking show and Suzie was the special guest or something.
"Tori," dad said as he put on his tie looking into one of the hallway mirrors, "I ask you to please go upstairs and put on a dress."
I laughed, "Good one dad."
The three looked over like they were suddenly super interested in the conversation.
"Please Tori," dad said.
"Well I'm so sorry to tell you that I don't have a dress. I have one and only one. And that's the one I used at your wedding and personally I don't want to get in that medieval torture device," I replied sitting down at the counter.
"So when I give you money to go shopping what do you buy?" Dad asked.
The guys grinned, like they figured I'm in big trouble. Whatever.
"Pants and shirts. Oh and sometimes I buy new sneakers," I said with a shrug.
"You never bought a dress? Not even a skirt?" Dad asked.
"Heck no," I said.
Dad sighed, "Is that the nicest clothing you have?"
"Nope," I did have nicer clothing but I wasn't going to make a big deal out of Chief Deliv coming over.
Dad was about to add something when the doorbell rang. He went to get the door.
"Shit," I muttered so Lilly and Suzie wouldn't hear.
"What do you have against this guy?" Shawn asked.
"The list is so long I don't even know where to start," I replied then looked at the three, "You'll see."
Dad came back with Chief Deliv. Chief is a old man, late fifties probably. He has grey thin hair and you can tell that it's falling out. Some wrinkles cover his face, but he also has a sense of power whenever he's near. In other terms he just looks like a really old biker. He was wearing his police uniform and I really don't get why.
Lilly came forth and introduced herself, "Hi I'm Lilly."
Chief shook her hand, "Names Don. Don Deliv but people mostly just call me Chief."
"Alright," Lilly said then looked over at the boys, "These are my son's."
Blake stood up and shook Chief's hand, slightly wincing but he gained his composure, "I'm Blake."
Cole came up, "Cole."
"I'm Shawn," Shawn said as he went up and shook Chief's hand.

"Pleasure to meet you all," Chief said.
"Bill I'm almost done with dinner if you want you can all go sit at the dining table," Lilly asked.
"Yes lets just do that," Dad said. He led Chief into the dining room and me and the guys lagged at the end.
"Did he squeeze you hand like he did to me?" Blake asked.
"Yeah I'm still trying to regain control," Shawn said flexing his hand in and out.
"Why does he do that?" Cole asked me.
"I don't know," I replied.
We sat around the dining table, Suzie to my left and Shawn to my right. Dad and Chief talked until the food came out. Lilly came and brought the salmon, placing it in the middle of the table. She added a small pot of rice, bread, and potatoes.
"That looks really good mom," Cole said.
"Thank you," Lilly replied and sat down by dad, "Please Chief help yourself."
Chief grabbed the biggest salmon and then we passed him the rice, he poured a good portion. After that he placed a potatoe and grabbed a piece of bread. We watched for a minute before we served ourselves.
"Lori right?" Chief asked looking at me.
"Tori," I replied.
"Tori right. Anyways are you happy for your new mother," he asked.
"Yes I am. And she's a very good cook," I added trying to change the subject.
"That she is. Better then when I had dinner at your old home, did you cook that?" Chief asked.
I gave a fake smile, "Yes sorry if you didn't like it. I'm not much of cook."
"Oh I know that," Chief said.
The guys stared at Chief then back at me. Cole mouth 'wow' and Shawn made an 'O' shape while Blake just smirked.
"So it's Blake, Cole, and Shawn?" Chief asked.
I mentally sighed. I really hope he's done picking on me.
"Yes sir," Blake said.
"And you're triplets? That's what Bill tells me at work," Chief said.
"Yes we are triplets but as you can see, there isn't much of a resemblance," Cole said.
"Yes I can see that. So which one of you was born first?" He asked.
"Me sir," Blake said.
"So your the leader? I firgured," Chief shrugged.
"Sorry," Blake asked totally confused.
"Well I mean you seem to be the leader. I already knew when I saw you because you put a sentimental feeling like you boss your brothers around, or they follow whatever you do. Its logic and you really seem to like bossing them around." Chief said.
Blake seemed furious but he kept a calm face, "I prefer, WE prefer to be called a team."
"Yes but each team need a team leader," Chief shot back, "Anyways and I'm guessing Cole your the middle one?"
"Uh yes sir," Cole said.
I knew this wouldn't last long. Chief was already criticizing, great.
"So your in the middle," Chief added, "I was a middle child. It sucks doesn't it? And on top you have a demanding big brother."
"I'm fine with my brother sir. Like he said we are a team," Cole added.
"And Shawn how does it feel being th youngest?" Chief asked.
"Ok I guess," Shawn said awkwardly.
"Well its a shame to be the youngest because then you have two older brothers that boss you around," Chief said.

The guys watched as Chief ate and then looked over at me. I gave them a 'I told you so' glance. They just went back to eating. This whole time Lilly and dad were just watching not saying anything, I mean what could they say?
"So what are you boys planning on becoming after you graduate?" Chief asked.
"We want to be sport stars," Blake said.
Chief snapped his fingers and laughed, "See there he goes acting as the leader."
Blake flared he looked down at his food so Chief wouldn't see his anger.
"Anyways I think I have better chances of growing my hair back," Chief laughed, "Sport stars yeah ok."
"So Chief where are you from?" Lilly asked changing the subject.
"Alabama, I was raised by my parents and we lived on a farm," Chief said.
"I'm surprised you weren't raised by Satan's," I muttered under my breath.
Shawn smiled at the comment, he seemed the only one that heard me.
"And may I say Lilly that's a very nice dress," Chief said.
"Oh why thank you," Lilly said.
"Tori maybe you'd learn a thing or two from your new mother," Chief said directing his attention back to me.
"Pardon?" I asked.
"Yes well seeing that you are in jeans, don't you have a dress or something? You'll never get a boyfriend if you don't wear a dress." He said.
"I don't like dresses, they make me feel uncomfortable." I gave him a fake smile.
"Well at least wear makeup," he added, "It'll make your face somewhat prettier."
I stared at him along with everyone else. Suzie's eyes were wide along with dad and Lilly. While the guys just looked astonished that he said that.
"Thank you," I said sweetly, "For the tip."
"Anytime," Chief said.
We all finished our dinner in silence and Lilly left into the kitchen to get dessert. She came back with chocolate mousse and spoons.
"So Suzie," Chief said.
No, no, no. I don't care if he makes fun of me, or the guys, but not my little sister. Everyone stopped eating and we looked at Suzie who slightly rolled down in her seat.
"Yes?" She asked.
"How old are you again? Seven? Eight?" Chief asked.
"Nine," She said quietly.
"Nine...right. Did you know you look like your mother?" He asked.
"Yes sir," Suzie said.
"So Suzie if you could choose, would you want to look like your mother?" He asked.
Why was he asking this? He really doesn't have heart does he?
"Umm I guess," Suzie muttered.
"Do you remember your mother?" Chief asked.
"A little bit," Suzie replied.
"A little bit? How old were you? Two?" he asked.
"Yeah," Suzie replied.
"So when you-" he started.
Cole interrupted, "Mom this is really good. Did you make this?"
Suzie looked down at her dessert. She looked well....helpless. Chief has never gone overboard like that. Never. But tonight what the hell is wrong with him. Suzie's a little kid, did he not see that.
Dad, Lilly, and Chief talked a couple more minutes. I guess you could say me, Suzie, and the three didn't do anything. We just looked down at our dessert.
"Well thank you for the lovely dinner, I best be on my way." Chief said wiping his mouth with the napkin.
"Yes of course," Lilly said as she and dad got up.
They walked Chief to the door and he said goodbye and left. Dad and Lilly came back and sat with us. Dad covered his face with his hands and groaned. That snappd us all back. We looked up at him and just as we were about to start yelling the most unexpected happened.
Suzie grabbed her glass and chucked it at the wall and it shattered everywhere.
"NEXT TIME I AIM FOR HIS HEAD!" She yelled and got up running up the stairs. When she reached the top she screamed at the top of her lungs, getting her anger out. We heard her door slam, hard.
I got up making the chair nearly fall, "Next time I'm taking her to the movies." I said to my dad angrily.
I ran up the stairs calling after my sister, "Suzie! Suzie."
I reached her door and knocked, "Hey Sue let me in."
"Go away," she muttered.
I tried opening the door but it was locked. I went back to my room and grabbed Mr.Cuddles then back to Suzie's room.
"Suzie look who I have," I said, "It's Mr. Cuddles."
There was silence and then the door unlocked. I slipped into her room and gave her hug.
"I'm sorry Sue," I said.
"He's a real jerk," she replied.
"I know, I know." I said, "Come on we have school tomorrow."
She nodded, "Am I in trouble for throwing the glass?"
I laughed, "No I think your fine."
I tucked her in bed and put Mr.Cuddles under her arm. She muttered a thank you and I kissed her forehead.
"Goodnight Sue," I said softly turning off the light in her bedroom.
I went back to my room and saw dad on my bed playing on his phone.
"Dad what are you doing?" I asked.
"Playing Boss, right now I'm shooting him with my rifle," dad said.
I looked over his shoulder and saw that he was right. And the boss was actually Chief's face. I chuckled. Dad stopped playing and looked up at me.
"Is Suzie ok?" he asked.
"Yeah she's fine, I think she's mostly worried about being in trouble about the glass." I said.
Dad shook his head, "No she's not in trouble. And she's right, next time I would aim for his head too."
"I know dad, but how long till he retires?" I asked.
"Like three or four years, I just want to make it then," dad said.
"Ok but next time I'm taking her to the movies," I said.
"Sounds good," dad muttered, "Oh and how's it going with the deal we made?"
"We said I have till Thanksgiving and its the last week of August so I have time," I replied.
"Ok," dad said with a smile, "Now get some sleep, you have school tomorrow."
I nodded and he left. I changed to my pajamas and got under the covers. I have school tomorrow, damn it.

A Girl and Her Food
When a lost girl wakes up without a name, she quickly finds herself alone in a way that people around her can’t fix. Without a real plan and desperate to find what’s wrong with her, she thrashes and bites to stay alive. But human beings are weak things, that band together for strength, no matter who we are. Now if only she could work up the courage to ask one question... It’s normal to get stronger when you drink the blood of monsters. Right? Things to expect: - A powerful but kinda neurotic and emotional protagonist, with some degree of weak to strong. Or maybe strong to stronger, honestly. She's pretty rational and practical about things but won't always make the best decisions, so be warned if you super-dislike characters doing dumb stuff for emotional reasons sometimes. - Lots of dialogue and characterization, especially as we get more into it. It's focused on a single POV, but there might be some sections of other POVs later on, I'm not sure right now. - Magic is on the softer side, but I'll try to keep things fleshed out enough to avoid any obvious "well-established magic could have seemingly instantly solved this problem" moments. - I didn't add the mystery tag because I feel like it implies that this is a detective novel or something, but the story is absolutely incredibly opaque at times. So you'll have the most fun if you go into it trying to puzzle out the nature of events before they're explicitly explained!😇 - Also, I added the genre for completion, but it's gonna take a while to get to the romance. Please wait warmly and have some tea. Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge!
