《3 Stepbrothers》Last day of Summer

I woke up the next morning and got out of bed. Quickly taking a shower and putting on my England soccer jersey with some shorts. I walked outside and headed to Suzie's bedroom when I walked in I saw her sleeping. She really did look like an angel. I smiled to myself and went to her closet pulling out her jersey. It used to be mine, but I out grew it. I usally just pass down my clothes to Suzie.
I put the clothes at the foot of her bed and walked out the rooom heading for the kitchen. As I walked down the stairs I yelled, "Dad!"
"In the kitchen!" He yelled back. I walked into the kitchen with a smile. Dad looked at me and laughed.
"They won three to one!" I told him.
"Really? You'd think Italy would be better." Dad said. Thats when I noticed the guys were sitting around the table. They were staring at me with confusion.
"What?" I asked them.
"You like soccer?" Cole asked.
"I used to play," I replied.
"Play isn't the word Tori," Dad said. I really wished he would shut up but he just looked at the boys and kept talking, "This girl scored 23 goals in one season. She had a killer bicycle kick."
I rolled my eyes and went to the fridge to get some orange juice.
"Why'd you stop playing?" Shawn asked.
I sighed not taking my eyes off the orange juice in the fridge, "My mom died."
That was the end of that conversation.
"So," Dad asked, "How did England win?"
I started talking about Beckham's goal and then the other two goals. How Italy scored a header when it was a corner kick. And then more tactics. The guys actually listened in making comments every so often like "Doesn't he play for Manchester United?" or "He play's for Chelsea." After a while of talking about the game Lilly finally asked.
"So why so interested in England and not U.S.?" She asked.
Blake smirked, "Cause she likes to stare at David Beckham's abs."
I ignored the laughs coming from the boys and faced Lilly, "My mother was from England. We always cheered for her country and we still do."
I took a bite of my eggs. Suzie came in then wearing her England jersey.
"TORIIIII, you didn't tell me England played last night! I wouldn't have gone to the movies if you told me!" She siad.
I laughed, "Please I barely heard it with the music these guys were playing."
Lilly stopped eating and looked up at me, "Tori you weren't in your room the whole time were you?" Lilly asked.
The guys looked at me but before I could say no they spoke up.
"What? No, she was only there to watch the game," Shawn said.
"Yeah she was hanging out with some of our friends," Cole added.
"Yup. She met most of our friends," Blake said looking at me, "Right Tori."
I smiled, "Yeah. Your friends were great."
Lilly smiled. But my dad raised an eyebrow. He knew I wasn't much of a party person. Heck I never even wanted birthday party's. The fact of being at a party stresses me. Especially if your the host, because everyone wants your attention. And if you go to someone else's party and you don't know anyone there but the hosts, then your screwed. Even if you do know people there, they might walk out on you, leaving you to be some weirdo that stands there with no one to talk to.

"So I hear you guys have a gym in the basement?" My dad asked.
"Yeah we do Bill," Cole said, "We work out there to train for football and lacrosse."
"So which is your favorite sport?" Dad asked.
"I like to swim mostly," Shawn said.
"Basketball and soccer," Cole said.
"Football and soccer," Blake muttered.
Lilly sighed, "Well you boys really seem to like sports. Suzie, Tori what do you guys do on spare time?"
Suzie jumped up, "I like to dance, sing, and shop."
The guys rolled there eye's and I chuckled.
Lilly's smile was so big, "Well at least I can take you shopping now. The boys never let me shop."
"Well soorrry mom, but shopping is a pain in the," Shawn didn't finish the sentence.
Lilly rolled her eyes and looked at me, "What about you Tori?"
"I like to bike. Usally bike to school." I said.
"Is that and excuse to say you can't afford a car?" Blake asked, smirking.
"Blake!" Lilly snapped.
I didn't reply becuase that was one of the reasons I rode the bike to school. Dad couldn't afford another car. It was economically hard for him to be a single parent and take care of two girls. After all he did love being a police officer, but lets face it they don't get payed as much as they would hope. My dad stayed silent along with me.
"So dad you got work tomorrow?" I asked changing the subject.
He nodded, "Yeah and I have to leave early so I won't see you until dinner."
I nodded and grabbed my plate walking to the sink and putting it there. Then I headed outside and to the small shed we had. I opened it up and walked in. It had everyone's bikes in it. I walked to my bike and grabbed some tools. I pumped more air in the tires, fixed the gears and made sure everything was bolted in correctly.
Once everything was all set I clapped my hands together and took a deep breath. I walked back in the house only to see Lilly arguing with the boys.
"Guys just drive her to school!" She yelled at them.
"Mom I think she's perfectly fine with riding her bike!" Shawn yelled back.
They didn't seem to notice me yet so I coughed. They all looked at my direction.
"I'll ride my bike. Its fine Lilly," I said. Lilly looked at me with confusion. I just grinned and headed upstairs to my room.
There was nothing to do. So I just sat on my bed and checked my phone. Nothing. I am so bored, I thought. So I got up and went to my closet pulling out my school back pack. In all I had three backpacks. My school backpack, my traveling backpack, and my camping backpack. My school and traveling backpack were empty. My camping backpack had canteens, rope, matches, practically everything my dad thought I would need to have if I get lost in the middle of the woods.
I grabbed the school backpack and started placing the things I would need for tomorrow. After I had done that I put in my ear buds and listened to some music. I didn't notice that someone knocked on my door until they opened it. My dad walked in.

"Hey Tor-Bo can we talk?" He asked.
I pulled out my earbuds, "Yeah sure."
He came over and sat at the foot of my bed setting his hand on my shin. He didn't talk yet.
"Well," I said breaking the silence, "What did you want to talk about?"
"Several things actually," he said looking at me, "Like for starters, did you really go to the party?"
I hesitated, "Well a went for like..... an hour?"
My dad nodded.
I quickly added, "I just didn't want Lilly to feel bad." That was another lie, I only lied because I knew how disappointed my dad and Lilly would be if we told them about my deal with the guys.
My dad smiled, "Ok. That makes sense."
Another couple minutes of silence passed by.
"So the other thing?" I asked.
"How do you like your brothers?" He asked.
"They're not my brothers," I quickly replied.
"Tori, I know you dislike them bu-"
I cut him off, "DISLIKE? Oh dad I am way past that."
"Can you at least try to get along?" He strained his words as if he were desperate.
I laughed, "Thats a good one dad. You should be a comedian." I laughed again.
His eyes were serious and it scared me a bit.
"Your serious?" I asked.
"I'm dead serious," He said.
"Where are they?" I asked curiously.
"Outside playing football," Dad replied looking out my window.
I sighed, "We don't get along, ok. We're not nice to each other and if I ever get my hands around their necks... I'm sure they want to kill me too. I mean dad getting along at this age isn't exactly easy. Besides its only one year, next year I'm off to college and can forget about them for the rest of my life. So no I'm not gonna play nice and be nice if they haven't done anything to start with."
"Tori has it ever occured to you that if you do something nice for them, they might do something nice for you?" He said.
I snorted, "Yeah right."
"Just think about it," My dad said.
I watched as he got up and left, then sighed and layed back in my bed. I reached for Mr.Cuddles but found nothing. I got up and looked around my bed. Then under my bed. Nothing. I went to Suzie's room, but it wasn't there either. Through Suzie's window I had a full view of the backyard. The guys were tossing something around and I instantly knew what it was. The anger flared up and I ran downstairs and out the backdoor.
"GIVE HIM BACK NOW!" I yelled at them.
They laughed. Shawn tossed Mr.Cuddles to Blake. Blake grabbed Mr.Cuddles paws and moved them around.
"Tori help meeeee!" Blake said talking through Mr.Cuddles.
"Its not funny, GIVE HIM BACK!" I ran up to Blake but he threw it to Cole. When did this become monkey in the middle?
I ran to Cole and he tossed Mr.Cuddles to Shawn. I was getting really irritated now. I ran to Shawn and he tossed it to Blake but I kept running. I tackled Shawn to the ground.
"What the fuck!!" He yelled. Just as I had planned, Blake dropped Mr.Cuddles and ran towards us with Cole. I got off of Shawn and bolted back to the house, grabbing Mr.Cuddles as I ran into the house.
"Bitch!" Shawn yelled.
I turned to face him, "Shit head!" I yelled back at him. Then walked in the house and ran up to my room. I closed the door behind me and locked it. I looked down at Mr.Cuddles and set him on my bed and got on my knees and pulled out the shoebox I had put under my bed. Ever so slowly I opened it. In it? Pictures of me with my mom. I pulled out the specific picture of me and mom. With my little nine year old self holding Mr.Cuddles, smiling from ear to ear. I grabbed Mr.Cuddles and wiped a tear away. Its been six years and still I never got over it.
I lay back in my bed going through all the pictures of me and mom. I smiled at some and silently cried at others. After being in my room for a good hour and having composed myself, I decided to go down. I walked down the stairs and found the guys in the living room, as I walked down, Shawn stood up.
I smirked, "Can't take a hit?"
"You were right to run away asshole or I would-," Shawn started but I cut in.
"Yeah yeah or you would have killed me, torture me, turn me to pulp blah, blah, blah." I rolled my eyes.
"Thats it!" Shawn yelled making his way to me.
Thank god that just then my dad walked in wiping his hands with a rag, "Hey guys whats going on?"
"Oh nothing," I said with a smile. My dad raised an eyebrow. And walked to the kitchen to get water.
The three walked up to me.
"This isn't over asshole," Shawn said.
"Your lucky your dad is here," Cole added.
"Daddy won't always be there to protect you bitch," Blake spat out.
I took a deep breath and blew on my tongue, spitting in their faces.
They frantically wiped away my spit from their faces. I laughed and headed into the kitchen.
"Hey daddy how's everything?" I asked.
"Well, your in a good mood," He said.
"I am," I went to the counter and grabbed an apple then headed back to my room.
That night when I was in bed, trying to fall asleep I recollected my thoughts. My dad's voice kept replaying in my mind, 'Tori has it ever occured to you that if you do something nice for them, they might do something nice for you?' That one sentence kept replaying in my mind, over and over again. Like a broken record. Fianlly I fell asleep, but not before I heard it in my mind one more time.
