《Energy: A Lloyd Garmadon Fanfic》~Chapter Sixteen~

The next day, Lloyd couldn't seem to function. He felt out of place. This morning, he was the last to make it to the breakfast table. He didn't even eat the food that was made. During training, he barely put in effort. He let himself be defeated. Cole helps Lloyd get back up and takes off his kendo helmet. "Lloyd, are you okay? You don't seem to be yourself today?" He says
Lloyd sighed then shook his head. "I'm fine I'm just...not feeling it today." He said and took off his kendo gear. The other ninja were also worried about Lloyd and went over to him. "You okay Lloyd?" Kai asks. "Yeah what's wrong?" Jay buts in. "Whatever it is, we're here for you Lloyd, brothers have to support each other." Kai says. Lloyd looked at all of them.
He'd tell them what's wrong but he had to keep quiet about his new friends. He also didn't know what he was feeling to make him feel out of place, so he couldn't really explain it. Lloyd knew he had to get his act together for now, he'd had to hide his feelings for now. "I think I just need to, meditate more guys." Lloyd says as he sits on the mat and starts pretending to meditate.
The ninja stand around him confused for a minute, "I guess we should leave him alone for now. Maybe meditation is all he needs." Cole says and the other nod and leave Lloyd alone. All except for Kai. Meditation? Really? He wasn't falling for it. He knew something was upsetting his brother and he wanted to help. "Lloyd you can cut the charade. I know you better than this." Kai says.
Lloyd opens his eyes and looks up at the red ninja. "It's alright. I finished meditating. I feel way better now!" Lloyd says with a fake smile and gets up. "You sat there for 2 minutes. Meditation takes longer for it to actually work. No way you're better!" Kai says folding his arms. Lloyd looks around the training room seeing that the others have left the room. Him and Kai were alone.

Lloyd walked over to the window and his frown came back. "Kai...what's wrong with me?" He asked him. "Well you seemed fine yesterday. I don't know, you tell me." "I feel...weird." "How weird?" "Like, I'm not feeling like myself. I'm feeling things I've never felt before and I don't know what's wrong with me." Lloyd says and leans against the window pane looking outside.
"What are you feeling? Maybe I can help." Kai says as he puts and hand on his shoulder. "I keep having butterflies in my stomach. My heart races fast, when I'm not doing anything athletic. And I can't stop thinking..." "Thinking about what?" "About...her." Lloyd admits and Kai raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Lloyd, I know what you're going through. And it's absolutely normal for everyone." He says and Lloyd looks at him feeing hope for his answer.
"What?" "Lloyd...you're in love." Lloyd looks away from the window feeling shocked at himself. "No way. I can't be! Romance is disgusting. I don't want to drag myself in it." Lloyd says folding his arms. "Lloyd, it's the best feeling to have! There comes a time where we all find love. And it's finally your time!" "Then make these feelings stop because I don't want to feel this way!" Lloyd says furrowing his eyebrows. "Lloyd, are you...scared to, fall in love? Is that why you always avoid romance stuff?" Kai asks.
Lloyd turns away from Kai and says nothing. His shoulders then relax and he turns back around and faces him. "Yeah." He admits. "But why?! What's so wrong with liking someone?!" "Because maybe I don't want it distract me and my duty as the green ninja." "Lloyd! C'mon, you always do your duty as the green ninja! You never get distracted from what really mattered. Love won't distract you, in fact, I think it will make you an even stronger ninja!"

"Well love always has the downside. And I don't want to feel that." "Lloyd, heartbreak is important. But you learn from it, and it makes you stronger the next time. It's gonna be okay Lloyd. Just, trust yourself. Embrace the feelings you have and, go after her." Kai says and Lloyd thinks about it for a minute. "I would go after her Kai. But she's got someone else." Lloyd said with a frown.
"Who is she anyways?" "I-i can't tell you...or the others..." "Why not?" "I can't. I just can't." "But-" "Kai, I'll just say this, I'll give love a chance. If it doesn't work out, I'm gonna blame you okay!" Lloyd says with a smile. Kai decides to let the topic drop and he smiles back at Lloyd. "It's worth it Lloyd. She must be worth it too." Kai said. "Oh yeah...she is." Lloyd said as he begins again to think of Alex.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
