You run across your college campus as fast as you can, not caring about the people you're bumping into along the way, only worrying about making it to Tsukishima on time.
Finally, you reach the volleyball gym and run across until you can make it to your boyfriend.
"Got... them..." you huff as you hold Tsukishima's sports glasses and phone to him.
"Thanks."
You nod happily and take a look for the first time at the team across the gym.
"Are they supposed to be any good?" you ask as you begin to analyze his opponents.
"I played against their Libero in high school, Yaku, he was pretty good."
"Oh yeah?" you ask as you scan the group, "From Nekoma, right? I remember him, he was on the same team as Kuroo."
You look over at Tsukishima with a knowing grin. "Yes," he admits as he rolls his eyes.
"Aw come on," you tease, "Don't get so worked up."
Tsukishima looks like he's about to correct your comment, but is interrupted when his team captain jogs over calling his name.
"Tsukishima, time to warm up!" he calls out.
"Alright," Tsukishima nods back.
The captain jogs back to the rest of the team, giving you and your boyfriend a moment alone. You pull him into a big hug and wish him luck on his game.
"Thanks," he responds with a light kiss on your cheek.
He then turns to the rest of his team and jogs over. You smile as you watch him begin to warm up with the others.
Looking up towards the bleachers you realize that the stadium is getting a bit crowded. You rush over to the stairs to get a good seat before everything gets filled.
Halfway through the game, you leave the gym to use the bathroom. Although you practically ran both there and back, when you arrive behind your seat you see it's already been taken by a tall man with wild, black hair.

You shake your head as you begin to approach him. You don't want to cause trouble with the stranger, but if you could ask him to move it would have you from not seeing the rest of the game.
"Excuse me," you tap on the man's shoulder, "Do you mind if..."
When he turns his head to face you, you're met with the familiar Nekoma captain from several years ago. A smile stretches across his face as he looks up at you.
"Oh hey there, Y/N!" Kuroo beams as he looks up at you. "What's up?"
"Forget it," you sigh as you walk turn to walk away.
"Hey, wait," he calls to you.
Stopping to turn around you narrow your eyes in suspicion as you wait for Kuroo to say whatever it is he was going to say.
"I'll get up if this is your seat."
You watch, half expecting him to pull some kind of move, as he stands up and moves out of the way for you to sit. However, the rest is uneventful as you take your seat, thank him, and watch as he walks off somewhere else.
25-22 the scoreboard shows as the last whistle blows. You jump up from your seat, cheering for Tsukishima and his team along with half of the crowd.
Looking down at his team below, you see a grin on his face as one of his teammates gives him a high five. You can't help but smile to yourself being proud of how much he's been able to open up to his teammates since high school.
Once you're able to find your way through the sea of people, you run down to the courts. As you go through, someone from the opposing team calls out to you. You turn to see a short blond-haired man who looks as though he's grown quite a few inches, waving at you.
"It is Y/N, right?" he smiles as he jogs over, "I thought I recognized you!"

"Yep," you grin back, "but wow you've gotten taller."
Yaku puts his hands on his hips and nods proudly. Then, with your award-winning amount of luck, Kuroo finds his way over to the two of you.
"We meet again," he chuckles as he stands before you.
You only nod, not wanting to stir up any more issues with people you knew years back. You watch as Kuroo hugs Yaku and congratulates him on a good game even though they didn't win.
"Oh, by the way, Y/N, we should all catch up some time!" Yaku beams.
You and Kuroo exchange looks, both knowing that may not be the best of ideas. However, you trying to be the bigger person and trying to get along, agree to the idea.
You look over at Kuroo once again, but notice that he's completely checked out of the conversation. Following his line of vision, you look over and see Tsukishima walking towards you.
"Hi," he says as he interlaces his fingers with yours.
"Hi?!" you giggle, "Kei you did so great, congratulations!"
You practically jump into Tsukishima's embrace while Kuroo and Yaku both congratulate him on a well-played game as well.
"What're you guys up to?" Tsukishima asks as he releases you from the hug.
"Oh! Yaku invited all of us to hang out sometime!" you say excitedly.
Tsukishima freezes behind you. You look over to see him glaring back with a serious expression on his face.
"Here Yaku," you innocently smile as you keep your eyes focused on Tsukishima.
"Oh, Y/N, you're phone is-"
"I know, don't worry," you laugh away whatever Yaku was about to tell you.
When Yaku hands you back your phone you scroll through your contacts. "Hm, Kuroo I don't think I have your number anymore either," you admit.
The grip Tsukishima holds on your hand tightens as you pass your phone over to Kuroo who happily takes it and types in his number. After receiving it back, you and Tsukki say goodbye and leave the gym.
"You don't need his number," Tsukishima sighs once you've made a good distance from the gym.
"Oh? Then why didn't you say something earlier?" you tease.
"What the hell did you expect me to-"
You cut Tsukki's rebuttal off by handing the same phone that Yaku and Kuroo both typed their numbers into. However, upon further inspection, Tsukishima realizes that the phone in use was actually his phone, not yours.
"You have my phone?" he asks as though he doesn't believe the proof in front of his eyes.
"Well yeah, sorry. I guess before when I was rushing to get your glasses and phone I kinda switched our phones by mistake. I didn't notice until your game started."
"You're an idiot," he shakes his head, "Why were you so excited then about getting their numbers?"
"Well... I kinda ran into Kuroo about halfway through the game and I did a bit of digging. I found out he works for some volleyball promotion company in Japan! I figured if you could put the past behind you then you'd actually have a good connection. And for Yaku, well, the two of you could always practice together."
After listening to your explanation, Tsukishima stops walking. You watch him nervously, hoping he isn't too mad, until he lets out a grin.
"Finally got me back, huh. After all these years? Man who knew the girl from the amusement park really bothered you," he laughs.
"Kei! I'm trying to be-"
Tsukishima cuts you off by pressing his lips smoothly against yours. Your eyes close shut as you sink into the moment, knowing that this was his way of thanking you better than he could describe in words.

Tales from the Triverse
Tales from the Triverse is part detective drama, part fantasy adventure and part space opera. I’m influenced by the likes of Iain M Banks, Isaac Asimov and ND Stevenson and work including The Wire and Gotham Central. It begins with an incident two hundred years ago which crashed three parallel universes together. Portals open up in 18th century London, sending England down a very different path. We pick up events in the 1970s, with the Metropolitan Police having established a new department to handle portal-related criminal activity. The story is about intolerance, immigration, multiculturalism and power. It’s about what happens when incompatible viewpoints are weaponised to seed discontent, and the efforts of some to create a fairer world. In the tradition of the best science fiction, fantasy and crime fiction, I’m using the setting to examine themes that matter to me in the real world. Who is it for?If you like science fiction or fantasy, or a mix of both, this is for you. It’s my first foray into crime fiction, but I hope if you’re a fan that you’ll enjoy yourself - especially if you’re looking for something a bit different. I write fiction that is optimistic, progressive and empathetic. Bad things can happen to good people in the stories, but the overall arc tends to be hopeful. Note that if it were a movie, Tales from the Triverse would be a 15 certificate in the UK.
