What went so wrong?

Mikey found himself in deep thought. Just staring ahead in wonder. Wondering how they got to this state; where he had loathed her existence and he prayed to god she felt the same. It was wrong. Very differently than what they had, then, viewed each other.

He knew what went wrong and what the fight had led to. But he could not find himself in her shoes. No matter how much he tried to. Because how could someone, who was entirely devoted to Toman's upbringing, leave it without a mere thought?

It was impossible to his understanding and he hated it. So much. "Emma, you should go back to school." Mikey pointed in front of him lazily. "Grandpa's gonna find out about it. And I'm guessing he won't be happy." He said, avoiding y/n's direct gaze by looking down for almost all of the sentence.

Emma slumped her shoulders knowingly and started to pack her things up to leave, bidding y/n goodbye on her way off. "So.." Y/n glanced awkwardly at Mikey and looked around in hopes of breaking this awful tension.

"Can't you just leave Emma alone?" Mikey cut straight to the point with crossed arms so overbearing. "Your shitty attempt at trying to bring the past back is annoying me. All I asked for— actually, what draken asked for— is for you to punch a few guys and leave. We never asked you to play house, now, did we?"

She was done at this point. Completely done. Not only was she forced into this favor or that Emma was the one who asked to meet up in the first place, but being blamed and shit on had her at her wit's end. "Look, I don't know what I missed out on in our little.. kerfuffle 2 years ago but I do know it's no excuse for your bitchy acts." She spat. "From how you're behaving right now, I hope every member of toman leaves your sorry ass."

And just like that, she walked away from him. Leaving them back to square fucking one.

Excellent.

(2003)

Another fight had gone successful. More importantly, the gang itself was successful. What they impulsively assembled on that one afternoon, was probably the most significant choice they've ever had to make in their life. The Tokyo Manji gang, now, finds new members every single day. And it has become rare for the original seven to meet up.

Well, it's true. They rarely meet up. But today, with sheer luck, 4 of them managed to meet. Baji, Draken, y/n, and Mikey. "And then I held his head to the floor and he begged for mercy." Mikey bragged, with the cockiest smile on his face.

Baji and Draken grinned, impressed with their accomplishing leader. He was intimidating to the others, one might say, and that's how they knew they chose the right leader. "Damn, Mikey. You have a lotta cool stories." Baji expressed, dangling his arm off of his knee.

Mikey shrugged his one shoulder and took a quick sip from the ginger ale in his hand. "I couldn't do it without my gang." He teasingly said to spite them. And he knew it was a success when Baji and Draken sent him annoyed looks. "Our gang. Our gang."

Draken punched Mikey's shoulder playfully, knowing he did it just to get on their nerves. "Ass." He laughed under his breath. "Tell us more. 'Heard you got into a fight with some of the members of the Black Dragons."

When he said that, y/n shifted in her seat and Baji looked over at her with curiosity. It seemed as if she was experiencing some discomfort from that subject. Actually, she was uncomfortable the whole meeting.

Both of her hands were hiding in between her two knees. And with her shoulders up so high, she looked so small, so vulnerable. Did something happen? "Well, a few of our members and y/n were with me. And, all of a sudden, a whole division started attacking me!"

As he continued on with another one of his stories excitedly, it was noticed that y/n just grew more and more distant. Nor was y/n mentioned in the story despite him saying she was there. "I know, I know. You're gonna call me an idiot for hospitalizing their captain but what was I supposed to do?"

While Draken lectured Mikey about how this just got them in deep deep shit just because he couldn't hold back his punches, Baji nudged y/n. "Where were you in all of this?" Baji asked her and he noticed her stiffening up.

Baji almost spoke for everyone around him when he asked this, so they all looked at her to find out her answer. But she just shrugged and looked down, bringing her shoulders closer. "You know, just fighting like I was supposed to." Y/n answered, almost a whisper.

It was a lie. It was so very clearly a lie.

And as soon as Baji and Draken left and the both were walking back to their individual houses, Mikey inquired her about it. "Hey, what really happened today, hm?" He spoke in a soft tone, always have and— to what he thought— always will.

"Mikey, I told you-" She started but Mikey stopped her with a deadpan stare, telling her he isn't buying it. Y/n looked into his eyes in a reluctance sense but he still persisted. She sighed, "While you were too caught up with whatever you were doing, your members led me to a trap so that the black dragons could beat me up."

Mikey's eyes widened and his brows furrowed. By this expression itself, she didn't know if he was in disbelief because it was shocking or he was in disbelief because he thinks it's a lie. "Look, I'm fine with people doing that who are not in your gang, but if it's from people you're asking me to trust?" Y/n said and then shook her head with shaky breath.

Shaky breath. That was it. Mikey slumped his shoulders and gazed at her with visible sadness in his eyes. "I know. I'm sorry. I understand." He shuffled around and scratched his neck. "Name them and I'll kick them out of the gang— I'll even beat the shit out of them."

"No— see, you always resort to violence! I told you. It's an anger issues thing—" Y/n stopped herself when she realized her lecturing him. She took a deep breath, "You doing that will only make them hate me more. And that is why I keep on asking you to add female members in."

Mikey swiped the back of his hand against his forehead out of frustration. Frustration due to this subject being brought up for another damn time. "I get that the male members treat you badly but, how in the actual hell does adding girls have to do with this shit?" He asked tiredly.

"Take it like this. You're the only male member in a gang full of women and they constantly berate you because of your gender. They tell you that the leader definitely let you join because you give her handjobs behind the alley or something." At this point, y/n was getting heated because of the conversation, remembering several moments in which they had said the same to her. "But the leader, your friend, decides to add other guys into her gang. So the other members slowly back off because they now know you didn't join because they think you fuck the leader on the down-low."

She let out a sharp breath when she finished that analogy of hers. Although, it wasn't like an analogy, it was more of a situation with the roles reversed. "No. Because that's a small probability." Mikey stated so y/n looked at him with furrowed eyebrows, confused. "That if I add females they'll know how to treat them. What if they end up hurting them instead?"

Idiotic, is what she thought. "So, what? You're just gonna let them do this?" She asked and then crossed her arms with an almost hurt look on her face.

A subtle eye roll took place in his expression, looking at her passive aggressively. "I just told you, give me their names and I'll deal with them." Mikey said as if it was as simple as that.

Her eyes fluttered while looking at his nonchalant expression. This wasn't something to simply pass by. His gang, people under his control, are too bothered by her that they're finding new ways for her to just be gone but he's finding this situation as an annoyance. "These aren't the only members who have done something like this. If I had to, I'd list the whole gang. How'd you think I broke my leg 3 months ago?" Y/n told him.

Mikey huffed.

He huffed out of irritation.

What's the point anyway?

Arguing about this with Mikey, of all people, wouldn't help at all. She'll always be less of a priority to him than their other friends. Because if it was up to them, Mikey would disband Toman for all he cares. But to her, it's just too big of an effort. "You know what, Mikey?" Y/n brought her hand to her face, covering her eye. "I'm done."

At this point, this has happened way too many times for it to just be an irregular occurrence. Their demeaning actions and the feeling of being so.. different are things Mikey would never understand. He never would. So, what's the point of staying here? "With this conversation? Good." Mikey said, with full arrogance.

He walked ahead, expecting y/n to just follow after him like a lost dog desperate for the attention of its owner. But no, he noticed her footsteps growing more faint and her shadow appearing smaller. "No, Mikey." She said and he stopped, turning slowly with a visibly perplexed look on his face. "I'm done with Toman. I'm leaving it."

His eyes dilated in hurt but he was convinced this was just her being impulsive and trying to manipulate him into doing it, though he was far from right.

It wasn't impulsive. She had thought about that the moment an act as such was made towards her but she always thought otherwise because she was scared Mikey would be upset with her. And she was right. "What? You can't be serious." He spoke, and maybe it was his tween ways but it almost sounded of disgust. "Are you really only doing this because someone pushed you?"

Y/n scoffed out of disbelief and just looked at him. Tears were building up in her eyes at this point but she couldn't let him see it. She just couldn't. "I can't believe you. I tell you about this and this is how you react?" She shook her head out of disappointment. "If you keep this up, all of your friends are gonna leave you. And I'll sure be glad for them doing so, dickhead."

And she left.

This situation was a dickhead move in his case and he'll admit it. But she is a traitor to toman. Or to him, at least.

Her action that day cost them 6 fucking members.

And on that same week, shinichiro died.

But did she ever go to his funeral or spare him a single damn thought? No.

As a result, she's a traitor to him and so she is a traitor to toman.
