《Brother of Wind {Book 7: Hands of Time}》Chapter 8

The dark sewers were full of the kidnapped people and the Vernillion guards plus the Time Twins.
"All these tunnels under the city look the same, huh? Pretty confused, I'll bet." Acromix said.
"It's a secret lair. It's supposed to be hard to find." Krux retorted.
"Yeah, but not for us." Acronix said.
"I'll figure it out in a second." Krux fiddled with his map.
"Oh, get with the time, brother. My new BorgWatch has built-in GPS, the, uh..." Acronix looked at his watch.
"What's wrong?" Krux asked.
"Um...nothing. Just respecting your feelings about tradition and--" Acronix said. They were lost.
"No service. That's why I don't get with the times. The old ways are still superior. Follow me!" Krux charged doen the path.
"I hope things are going this well topside." Acronix said.
. . .
"Yes! Operation Heavy Metal's so good the ninja don't even know what's up. Nothing will stop us!" Raggmunk exclaimed. The Ninja showed up.
"Way to jinx it." Blunk retorted.
Jay exited his vehicle and looked up at building scaffolding littered eith the Vermillion.
"Last one up is a rotten ninja." Jay called.
"Clear off as many snakes as you can!" Kai shouted.
"Wow! Total snake invasion!" Dareth exclaimed. Kai jumped up the levels, kicking one Vermillion apart.
"Why am I so good? It's a curse, really." Kai boasted. The snakes regenerated.
"Oh, great." Kai was kicked off but Nya caught him.
"Nya, what are you doing here?" Kai asked, bing pulled up.
"I came to warn you about the metal-stealing snakes, but it looks like you already know." Nya said.
"How's Zane?"
"He's, uh..." Nya looked down.
"Avocados are not vegetables! Fifty three, eleven!" Zane shouted.
"Uh, we're still working out some kinks." The Vernillion combined into an even bigger soldier. It jumped towards Nya. She dodged and it fell down, breaking the scaffolding. They still regenerated. What a nuisance.
"Spleen sauce, cow box!" Zane shouted.
"That's right, bring it on." Ronin said on the ground, fighting the Vermillion. The large snake grabbed Ronin out of his Mech.
"Oh, boy. Feel free to jump in, Dareth." He ssid.
"Sorry. My back's totally jacked again." Dareth hid behind a car.
"These guys took your trophies." Ronin said.
"Brown Ninja vengeance!" Dareth yelled. He jumped into the armous and punched whatever he could see. He twirled out of the snakes and hit Ronin back.
"Aah, my leg! I think you broke it!" Ronin cried.
"Gotta get more snakes!" Dareth yelled.
"Nya, where you going?" Kai asked as his sister kept climbing upwards.
"Come on!" Nya called.
"Jay, Cole, let's go!" Kai said. They jumped up towards the top of the building.
"So, does anyone have a plan?" Jay asked as they made it to the top. Vermillion warriors joined them.

"Welcome to Ninjago!" Nya shouted up in a crane. She hit back the warriors with the steel beams.
"No! They failed! And we haven't collected nearly enough metal yet." Blunk exclaimed from afar.
"No, you haven't." Machia said.
"Uh, was she here the whole time?" Raggmunk asked.
"Your plan didn't just have a stupid name. It was also a stupid idea. So now, it's my turn." Machia decided.
"Commence with Operation Blackout. That should buy the time you'll need to collect more metal. Assuming you don't mess that up as you did this." She Hissed.
"Operation Blackout. Good name." Blunk said.
. . .
"You're worried?" Misako asked as her son paced around.
"You have no idea." Morro said.
"Master Wu looks pale." Lloyd said.
"No. I mean you are worried about Cole, Jay, and Kai." Misako said.
"No, I'm mad at them. I gave them an order and they disobeyed me." Lloyd said.
"So not worried at all?" Misako asked.
"No." Lloyd replied. Misako looked to Morro.
"You don't need me to tell if he's lying." Morro said.
"Okay, fine. But you heard Master Wu. He wished I was there for him when he fought Acronix." Lloyd said.
"I won't leave and disappoint him again."
"You did not disappoint me, Lloyd." Wu spoke up.
"Oh, Master!" Lloyd jumped.
"When I said I wished you were there, I was speaking of you, the team. If I had brought the entire group, perhaps things would be different." Wu said.
"And that's your fault." Morro stood up.
"Your mistake, you did that." He said.
"I did. I'm sorry." Wu said.
"You still appear concerned." Wu turned to Lloyd. Morro looked between Wu and Lloyd and sat down, bothered.
"What is it?" Wu asked Lloyd.
"My first time in charge and I blew it. The guys ignored my orders. Master, what do I do now? I'm no leader. All I do is make mistakes." Lloyd said. Wu fell back asleep.
Misako patted Morro on the back.
"He does too." Morro said.
"I make mistakes as well." He added.
"When?" Lloyd asked. Morro gave him a look.
"The thing is, it happens often that I learn from it. Change something the next time something happens." Morro said.
"I'm trying. I can't be like you." Lloyd said.
"Because you're not. Don't lead how Wu or I do. Don't. How would Lloyd solve this problem? What was his mistake, and how can he fix it?" Morro asked.
"I.... Left my team. I'm supposed to be fighting alongside my friends." Lloyd said.
"Yes. Even if they aren't ready to follow you yet, they will be." Misako said.
"But I don't know where they are." Lloyd said. The power went out.

"Okay, that's a pretty big clue. Alright." Lloyd sighed.
"We're going to back up our friends. And I'll be a leader." Lloyd said Morro nodded and followed.
"You aren't the only one. I see two young masters ready to lead. Good luck." Misako said.
. . .
Cole, Jay, Kai, Nya and Zane came to the power plant.
"What took you so long?" Lloyd asked as he and Morro were already there.
"We were—Hey, how'd you know those whatever-they-ares would be coming here?" Jay asked.
"When all the power went out, I assumed they must be at the source." Lloyd said.
"You figured that out? Nice. We had to follow them." Kai said. Morro scoffed.
"Really." He said.
"I should have been following them with you guys from the beginning. I'm sorry." Lloyd said.
"Yeah, yeah, so are we. So what's the plan, Temporary Masters?" Jay asked.
"Two. Haha." Kai said.
"We go in there and kick some snake butt. Or whatever passes for a snake's butt. Like it?" Lloyd asked.
"I love it!" Jay exclaimed.
"Yeah. That's a great plan." Cole said.
"The treadmill was invented in 1818." Zane said.
"False." Morro pointed.
Jay kicked the door open.
"All right, snakes, time to—where are they? The place looks empty." Jay said
"Zane, you detecting any snakes?" Lloyd asked.
"Cranberries. Corkscrew. Squab." Zane said.
"Multiple contacts. Six meters in." Nya said. They stared at her.
"Uh, after a while, you start to pick up on the meaning." Nya said.
The Vermillion came onto the scene.
"That's a bunch of Office Warriors! Literally!" Jay shouted at one holding a chair.
"Okay, let's do this! All of us!" Lloyd said.
"All of us?" Nya asked. Zsne was walking into the wall like a broken NPC.
"I advise he don't do anything." Morro said.
"Newt." Zane said.
"Ninja-go!!"
Cole and Kai hit the floor and attacked two Vermillion. Lloyd and Jay kicked barrels at others, splitting the snakes apart.
"You don't look so big." Cole said. The Vermillion stood up and combined into one large one.
"And now you do." Cole raised his scythe.
"A desk is no good without a chair. Have a seat!" Nya kicked a chair at a Vermillion with a whole table. It instead just jumped on the chair and rolled towards Nya.
"Aw, come on!" She said. Morro intercepted and broke apart the attack.
"I hate not having a full team. We could really use Zane's help." Lloyd chimed up.
"Right now he basically has one move: short himself out with a massive blast of power. It creates a magnetic field that yanks off their armor." Nya explained.
"The turbines over there are rotating electromagnets." Morro poi ted.
"So if Zane were to hook in directly and super charge one of them, all this metal armor the snakes have--" Lloyd didn't get to finish.
"I'm on it. Zane, I need you!" Nya called, pushing Zwne across the ground.
"Hog knock!"
"We have to buy Nya and Zane a little time!" Lloyd said.
"Time to stall." Morro tilted his head. Nya hastily held Zane's hand out. The other five got pushed back into a defense around thrm.
"Got it! Now, Zane. Now!" Nya exclaimed.
"Gargle my pudding! Gargle my pudding!" Zane said.
"We need more juice!" Nya cried.
"Jay!" Everyone shouted.
"On it!" Jay charged the turbines up with his element. Every piece of loose metal attracted to the turbines and the snakes fell down.
"Boo! That's right. Slither away! Hahaha! Way to go, Nya!" Kai said.
"Thank the masters." Nya saud.
"Way to go, Master Lloyd!" Jay said.
"Yeah, you forgot the 'temporary in training' part." Lloyd said.
"I know. Don't let it go to your head." Jay said. He turned to Morro.
"You haven't changed what-so-ever." He said. Morro rolled his eyes.
"Uh, not to ruin the feel-goods, but maybe we should save the celebrating for after we get the power and Zane back on?" Cole asked.
. . .
"One more switch and..." Nya flipped it. Thr power was back.
"Well, we know civilization has been restored. The TV is working again." Jay said.
"Hello, everyone. What have I missed?" Zane asked.
"Oh, not much. Missing people and snakes trying to steal your metal skin. But we kicked their butts, if in fact they have butts. It's still an open question. But for now it's game over." Jay said. Zane seemed a bit lost.
"Uh, I'm not so sure about that." Kai pointed to the screen.
"Snakes are attacking Monster Amusement Park. They appear to be after anything metal that isn't nailed down, including the nails themselves!" Gayle exclaimed on the news.
"Ninja, we're leaving." Lloyd instructed.
"Nya, when this is all over, there's something I need to tell you. Something important." Kai said.
"Okay, big brother." Nya said.
"Or you could just ask me." Morro ssid to himself.
"An amusement park, really? Do these guys hate fun?" Cole asked.
"Nah. More like they love metal." Lloyd got into his vehicle.
"Agreed. I cannot think of a better place to steal it from. I'm sure you concur, Pixal. Pixal?" Zane asked. No response in his head.
"Now let's roll. I've got a Samurai X suit to get back." Nya sped off.
"Wait! There is a better place. A scrapyard. Like the one that belongs...to my parents!" Jay exclaimed. He drove away towards his home, worried of what he will find.

They Who Hunt the Forest
As a rule of nature, breaking a wave before it peaks halts and disperses built-up energy. Unfortunately, Fate doesn't play by the rules of nature. The cost of a Fourth war: an equal number of lives, a thousand thousand generations of lost futures, and one infinitely unspeakably tortured soul of a child never given chance to be one. Chronicles of Xod (returning from hiatus)
After a long recovery over a chronic motion sickness issue, I feel I'm ready to return to writing this book. It might be slow at first, but I'm hoping to pick up where I left off. I apologize again for the long hiatus. The pages following are a true account. An account of how I, Josh--a teenage nerd from modern suburbia--ended up in a strange world filled with fantastic magic, bizarre creatures, and terrifying dungeons. Despite the troped-up fantasy feel of the world, this is hardly an ordinary tale. For one, don’t expect a happy ending. With the trials I’ve been through, the horrors I’ve seen and the atrocities I’ve committed, believe me when I tell you, this is not a happy tale filled with friendly rainbow bears or teenage flying unicorns. It’s more likely you’ll finish this book mentally scarred as I will not spare the details of my unfortunate adventures. With the help of my trusted companion Gui, I gain an insight that no one else in the world has. This knowledge allows me to exploit and, for lack of a better term, metagame the system which gave me a clear advantage over its residents. “With great power...,” someone might begin to quote to me. In my defense, I think maybe even you, reader, might have acted similarly with how this reality changed my view of good and evil. This story will be updated regularly on Wednesdays around 6 PM. There will only be about 1000 words per update. The focus is to finish the story before doing any major changes or editing. Please read as if this is a work in progress, not a finished product. Feel free to let me know if you see any error, whether glaring or minor. If you help me out, I'll be sure to add you to a thank you list at the front of the book when it is published. Chronicles of Xod is a first-person fantasy novel that follows the adventures of a young man from Earth. Through unknown circumstances, he finds himself in a fantasy world where life is not all wonders and happy endings. The story takes common fantasy concepts from my favorite video games, books and movies and gives them an adult edge. It also introduces some taboo concepts often glossed over by stories written for broad audiences. The style is meant to be immersive and heavily detailed. The short novel will be written in a way that attempts to bring a sense of realism to an unrealistic genre. Where there are realistic consequences and dangers in a world populated with violent monsters, cruel demons, bloodthirsty undead, and immoral bandits. In this fantasy world, the inhabitants are essentially gender blind as far as sexuality is concerned. There is also more variation amongst male and female physiology. This isn't meant to be any kind of promotion or demotion of social behavior in reality. Just a concept I thought would be an interesting idea to have in a fantasy setting. I highly discourage anyone from reading this material if you are personally concerned with being offended or traumatized. Both violent and sexual content will be graphically detailed. All characters involved in sexual scenes are mature and of the age of consent(18+).
