《Brother of Wind {Book 7: Hands of Time}》Chapter 1

Ninjago City. A well tech driven place. After the whole Overlord incident, they all decided to dial back the technology. But that doesn't mean new tech can't be developed. Several people were waiting in a line outside a Borg store, excitedly as a new line of tech was about to be announced and sold.
In the sky was a Borg blimp, carefully drifting through the air, being more than just a symbol for the genious inventor.
Up in the remains of the Monastery of Spinjitzu, several bushes had grown over the foundation and the supports of the building. A pocket watch in someone's hand opened up, revealing 5:30 as thunder struck. The hands of the clock moved by a minute, up in the sky, a red, blue, yellow, and green distortion appeared, a figure with clockwork like clothes and a hood and mask dropped into the center of the courtyard.
"Right on time."
"What?" The hooded man turned around to see Wu sitting with his staff and pocket watch.
"Long time, no see." Wu said.
"Master Wu? You look...old. As if your best days have passed. Not unlike your monastery." The hooded man looked at the burned remains.
Wu closed his pocket watch and put it away.
"I still have plenty of days left." He stood up. The mystery man reached behind himself.
"Shall we finish what we started? I've been waiting over a decade." Wu said.
"Really?" The man gripped a dagger behind his back.
"It doesn't feel that long to me." He said.
"This ends now." Wu held his staff.
And with that, there are always two. Just as there are two hands on a clock. Now, the chapter of tomorrow has started today.
. . .
"This ends now, Samukai." Jay exclaimed in the museum. Turns out he was just holding the mannequin head of the Skulkin general. "Nope, pretending this is the actual Samukai doesn't make cleaning up the museum any more interesting." Jay said.
"This is so lame. We're ninja, not janitors." He complained.
"Come on, Jay. We're all kind of responsible for the damage to the museum." Lloyd said, rolling by with a cart.
"After all, if we hadn't had that massive battle on the Day of the Departed, this place would still be in one piece." Lloyd kept on his path.
"Yeah, and whose fault is that, Cole?" Jay glared.
"Okay. How many more times do I have to say I'm sorry for accidentally unleashing the ghostly forces of evil that attacked Ninjago?" Cole said, placing the portrait of Yang into a cart.
"How did it even get this wrecked in the first place? None of us hit the wall or something. Well maybe I did, but only with my hands." Morro said looking at the mess.
'That made no sense, what?'
Lloyd turned around.
'Whatever, just take this into that room.'
Morro handed Lloyd the replica technoblade.
Cole grabbed the handles of the cart but dropped it as that orange glow he recently discovered crept up his arms.
"Eh, speaking of which, you're still not used to having your old, non-ghost hands back?" Jay asked, taking a box with him. Cole's hands returned to normal.
"Oh, I'm working on it." Cole started to clean up his spill.
Cole and Jay entered the main room as Nya carried a crate.
"This is exhausting." She put the box down to straighten her back and rested on the crate.
"If I could go back in time, I'd tell Dr. Saunders we were too busy to help." Nya said.

"Nya, you may recall that the rest of us once time-traveled." Zane walked in with the Cryptor mannequin.
"It can have devastating effects, and should not be used lightly. Certainly not to get out of labor." Zane said.
"It's just an expression, Zane." Nya sighed.
"Lloyd took the technoblade into the hall already." Morro told Zane.
Nya spotted Kai in the corner and walked up to him.
"I... I don't believe it." Kai said.
"What is that?" Nya asked.
"I think it's a portrait of... our parents." Kai pointed to the man and woman, red and blue, looking similar to the siblings. If the two remembered correctly, the people in the portrait matched their only photo of Kai and Nya's parents.
"Whoa. This dates to when I was, like, 3 years old." Nya said, looking closer.
"Shortly before they disappeared. We know so little about them, Nya." Kai sighed.
"Father was the Elemental Master of Fire." Nya said.
"Mother was the Master of Water." She conjured a water ball.
"And they left us the old blacksmith shop and little else." Kai said.
"They left us our powers." Nya said.
"Guys, look what I found!" Cole called. Nya dropped her ball of water fall on the floor as she and the others cane up to Cole, who was looking at a giant portrait.
"Uh, isn't that Garmadon?" Jay asked.
"It is. Lloyd, that's your dad." Cole pointed.
"And there's Master Wu." Kai remarked.
"He looks so...young." Nya said. Morro walked up and looked at the portrait for a little.
'Why is this here?'
Morro narrowed his eyes.
"What do you mean?" Lloyd asked.
"I'm getting some air." Morro walked outside the museum.
"Look at them, my father and my uncle, Ninjago's two greatest Elemental Masters." Lloyd turned back to the portrait.
"I wonder if I'll ever live up to their legacy."
"First Kai and Nya, now Lloyd and Morro. It's family picture day at the museum." Jay said.
"Does anyone recognize this battle?" Cole asked.
"Pixal, analyse please." Zane scanned the image.
"Facial contour mapping indicates this scene takes place over a decade ago, presumably 13 to 15 years maybe, during the Serpentine Wars." Pixal said.
"During the Serpentine Wars? But Ninjago was at peace. Who would they be fighting?" Cole asked.
"Refreshing time. Hot, sweaty work deserves a cool drink." Dr. Saunders came up with a tray of drinks.
"Ah, thanks, Dr. Saunders." Kai took a cup. Everyone in the room took one.
"Enjoy the pickled beet tea." Saunders exclaimed.
They all spit it out.
"Uh..." Cole dropped his.
"Oops! Hehe. New hands. So clumsy." He laughed.
"Eh." Jay drank the whole thing.
"What's this painting?" Lloyd asked, putting his cup back on the tray.
"Oh, this? Nothing. Minor skirmish. No historical significance. That is why I don't hang it in the main gallery." Saunders dismissed the painting.
"It looks pretty significant to me. This thing is huge." Jay said, putting his cup on the tray.
"Yes, a huge myth. The folklores." Saunders said.
"Even if it is a myth, who are these men Masters Wu and Garmadon are supposed to be fighting? I have no data on them." Zane pointed to the two men on the other side of the painting.
"There is a legend." Saunders placed the tray on a box.
"These are twin brothers called the Hands of Time." Saunders explained.

"The Hands of Time?" Kai asked.
"They could allegedly manipulate time itself. Speed it up, slow it down. All sorts of things." Saunders laughed.
"See what I mean? Manipulate time? A ridiculous fairy tale." He chuckled.
"Who's this one?" Nya pointed to one man.
"Oh, this handsome-looking fella? Ha! The legend says his name is Krux." Saunders said.
"And who is the nasty-looking guy?" Lloyd asked, pointing to the other.
"In the stories, he's called Acronix."
. . .
"You might as well give up, Wu. I'm the superior fighter." The hooded man and Wu circled around a bush.
"And your brother isn't here to bail you out."
"No. But neither is yours, Acronix." Wu gripped his staff tighter.
"And whose fault is that?" Acronix exclaimed.
"Garmadon and I did what we had to do to protect Ninjago." Wu said.
"And I will do what I have to do!" Acronix revealed his dagger and charged at Wu.
Wu blocked the dagger with his staff and knocked Acronix back into a post. Wu thrusted his staff forwards but Acronix dodged and climbed up the post. Wu jumped up to attack but Acronix sliced off the tip of the staff.
"Huh. More spry than I would expect. Let's see if you can keep up!" Acronix taunted. Wu climbed up to the same level as Acronix and quickly blocked a strike from Acronix.
. . .
At the Temple of Airjitzu, there were a lot of boxes as Ronin brought in one more.
"Where do you want this last one, Misako?" Ronin asked.
"Anywhere you can find room." Misako said. The new Ninja headquarters was all crowded. Ronin placed the box on the ground. Who knew there was so much of this stuff.
"Ronin, Dareth, thank you again for helping me set up our new ninja temple." Misako said.
"Happy to do it." Dareth said as he slacked off.
"Do what? Three hundred boxes airlifted into this place and you didn't carry a single one of them." Ronin said.
"I told you, I got a bad back. Besides, this unpacking isn't gonna supervise itself." Dareth ate the last of his ninja chips.
"Oh! This came to the wrong place." Misako said, looking at Nya's samurai armour.
"Sweet sword fighter, get a load of that thing." Dareth jumped up.
"Nya's samurai suit. This should have gone to her Samurai X Cave." Misako said.
"What for? I thought she gave up being Samurai X for the Water Ninja." Ronin said.
"Mm, she did. But she kept the mech so I'm sure she'd want this too. If nothing else, it's a souvenir of a past life." Misako placed the helmet down.
"If it were me, I'd sell the whole kit and caboodle online. One of a kind tech like that? Some collector would pay a fortune." Ronin poked it.
"With that kind of cheese, she could buy all the souvenirs she ever wanted. Fill the place with snow globes. Uh, tell Nya I'd be happy to broker a deal. For a small fee, of course." Ronin said.
"Sell it? This baby belongs in a museum...or my dojo." Dareth put the helmet on.
"Look out, Ninjago, here comes Samurai D." He kicked around.
"Uh..." Misako sighed.
"Huh?" Ronin said.
"Samurai D." Dareth said. Misako shook her head.
"The D is for Dareth."
. . .
Wu blocked an attack then fled to the main part of the roof.
"Give it up, old man. I've got a decade on you. I'm faster, stronger!" Acronix raised his dagger.
"That's your mistake. You assume your youth is a greater weapon than my experience." Wu said.
Acronix jump slashed and Wu blocked, making Acronix fall to grab onto the ledge. He slashed again, bringing Wu closer to the edge. Acronix jumped up to try and make a finisher but Wu moved out of the way at the last moment.
"Arrogant to the finish. Just like your brother." Wu exclaimed.
"Arrogant? No...confident!" Acronix shouted, jumping at Wu. Wu bent down and threw Acronix over. Acronix dropped his dagger over the ledge as he tried to keep balance. He was about to fall when Wu grabbed his cape.
"Arrogant, it was Krux's downfall. And now it's yours. Do you yield?" Wu asked.
"Never." Acronix looked back.
"There's no escape this time, Acronix." Wu let go of the cape.
"AAAHHH!" Acronix shouted. Wu grabbed it right by the edge.
"Do. You. Yield?"
"I...yield."
"So 14 years after it began, the battle of the Elemental Masters versus the Hands of Time finally ended at precisely 6 p.m." Wu checked the time.
Thunder was heard as another red, blue, yellow, and green distortion appeared in the sky and a forked gauntlet with green electricity immediately stabbed into the middle of the monastery. A wave shot out from it. In an instant, Wu and Acronix were near it.
. . .
"Dareth, please give me that back." Misako said.
"Oh, allow-" Ronin started. They disappeared and warped back in an instant.
"Oh! Oh, my back! My back!" Dareth shouted from the ground.
"-me? When did I get on top of Dareth?" Ronin asked, as the helmet was now in Misako's hands.
. . .
The Ninja threw the doors open and ran out.
"6 p.m. Quitting time!" Kai exclaimed. The wave of energy hit them and they suddenly appeared on the Bounty. They all wobbled over themselves and Jay fell on the ground. Loud alarms sounded off. Morro threw his hands over his ears.
"What just happened?" Lloyd asked.
"We... Uh. Moved forwards in time..." Morro said.
"Moved forward?" Kai asked.
. . .
Acronix pushed Wu back and ran for the gauntlet. He jumped forwards and grabbed Wu's pocket watch.
"And at 6:01, the battle began again!" Acronix jumped, Wu pushed him back.
"How did I get this? I have the strangest feeling. It's like déjà vu, but in reverse." Misako asked, looking at the helmet.
"It's like time skipped a beat." Ronin said.
"No, it skipped an entire minute." Misako looked at a clock.
"Please get off of me!" Dareth shouted.
"Um, weren't we just outside? When did we get here?" Cole asked.
"How did we get here?" Nya asked.
"My circuits are picking up an energy displacement." Zane said.
"There was a displacement all right. It displaced us right in here." Kai threw his arms down.
"What is going on?" Lloyd asked. Morro ran to the computer and looked at the map.
"I don't know. But it's loud!!!" Jay shouted.
"You're not helping the noise case, Jay." Morro glared.
Thunder struck in the clear skies above the Monastery.
"You had your chance, old man. You should have let me drop." Acronix approached with laughter.
"Now, let's see if your experience is more powerful than..." Acronix raised the weapon.
"The Time Blade."

Unique Fusion Magic Hex
World Essence. The mysterious energy coursing throughout the entire land of Vor'ten, and very possibly the entire world. This energy has allowed humanity to flourish, building great empires and vast kingdoms, conquering nature itself with just a sweep of their hand. Humans were the strongest existence, and with the help of channeling this World Essence, many were able to turn into Magic Knights, gaining magical abilities to combat the various fierce beasts throughout the lands.Alas... those glory days of old were long gone. Humanity has now been pushed to the brink of destruction, and now the remaining members of the human race are encased within giant domes known as 'Alkkras', made with the last remaining bits of the World Essence. It was said that those giant domes were the last gifts left by the remnants of the ancient human race, as a means to protect the future generation from the attacks of the many wild beasts roaming outside. Five Spiritualist Invokers, all combined together, used the last bit of the World Essence and sacrificed their lives to lay a gigantic, 1028-seal formation magic array to form these barriers, forever saving humanity, but also trapping humanity within these barriers. However, the humans were never completely helpless. No matter how little World Essence was left, the humans still had some remaining. Realizing the incoming crisis, the humans found a way to seal World Essence inside a special type of crystal. Soon, these crystals began to become implanted into weapons, turning them into World Essence Weapons, and they began to display properties of their own. Extreme heat. Bone chilling cold. Absurd sharpness. These normal weapons, after being imbued with the energy of the World Essence Crystals, began to form natural affinities to elements. Fire. Water. Earth. Wind. Darkness. Light. Using these weapons, one could become a Chevalier that wielded the power of the elements. However, if one wanted to reach a higher level of enlightenment and understanding, one could become an Invoker. Via the study of magic array formations, one could directly use the power of the World Essence to cast devastating magics upon the enemy. These people were Invokers, highly valued for their combat potential by the Army. These weapons and magical arrays were used in the great fight between the humans and the beasts long ago. They had long since been put away in storage, almost long forgotten...However, after ten-thousand years of suppression, the human race is beginning its counterattack against the Beasts... Synth was an Invoker in the Magecroft Academy. However, his talent was terrible, being only at the Spark Stage. This led to him being looked down upon and bullied. He was unable to cast any Calamity-rank or even Destruction rank spells, and was only able to cast Coalescing rank spells at the age of 17, a record low in the academy for cultivating these rare Invokers. Even though he put in more effort than anyone else, he was still unable to advance his Channeling Energy. But due to his constant research and study, Synth ended up creating a power that would go against the heavens - he had found how to Fuse spells together. After trying it out once, merging the magical array for the Small Fireball and the Mortal Judgement skills, he was able to create a mid-rank Destruction tier spell, Holy Judgement Flame. However, after this, no matter how hard he tried, he was unable to fuse more spells together or even cast them, and noticed a weird, pentagram shaped formation on his left arm. He would later call this mark the Fusion Magic Hex, a curse that prevented the wielder from casting magic that wasn't their own...This meant that with the exception of Synth's newly created skill, , he was going to have to create unique magic arrays if he ever wanted to step on the path of becoming an Invoker! This power that destroyed the laws of the Invoking System, and his unyielding persistence in testing and creating new spells, would later gain Synth the nickname the Unique Fusion Hex, and lead him to become one of the strongest beings in the entire World!
