"What do you mean it says he's alive?" Jay asked confused.
"Hey, I'm just telling you what it says." Lloyd said wavibg the paper in his hand.
"Why would these thugs lead us here?" Kai asked.
"You know, this has to be some cruel joke. And I'm not laughing." Cole said.
"Guys." Morro said.
"Think these are for us?" Morro asked pointing to five fortune cookies on a plate.
"Fortune cookies?" Jay said suspiciously taking one.
"Very peculiar."
"And there's conveniently five of them." Morro added.
"Should we?" Lloyd asked.
Cole grabbed on and threw the whole thing in his mouth. As the ate it up, the others watched confused.
"Uh, you do realize there's a fortune inside, right?" Kai said cracking open his.
"Oh, so that's why they're called that." Cole said.
"Listen to this." Lloyd said holding the little paper.
"Master Chen has personally invited you to participate in his Tournament of Elements." Lloyd read. Morro grabbed Lloyd's arm to see the paper.
"Hey!" Lloyd exclaimed.
"Wait a minute. Are you saying that Mr. Chen, the same guy filling my belly with delicious goodness, is actually Master Chen?" Cole asked. Morro let go of Lloyd's arm and went to read his paper.
"The tournament consists of battle between elemental masters to find the victor." Morro read.
"Secrecy is of the utmost importance. Tell no one, or suffer the consequences." Kai said reading his paper.
"you ever want to see your friend again, meet on the pier at midnight and leave your weapons behind." Jay finished.
The ninja paused and looked at each other. Then, Jay's paper poifed out of his hand. Then Kai's paper, then Morro's, then Lloyd's. The ninja all turned to Cole.
Cole suddenly jumped up and let out a yell.
"Uuh. At least I know I'm invited." Cole said. Morro took the poster from Lloyd as the others laughed. He stared at it and reach each word over and over.
"You don't think...?" Lloyd started.
"It could be a trap. A lie to lure us in." Kai suggested.
"Yeah, but what if it's not? What if Zane's alive?" Jay asked.
"The Tournament of Elements. I'm starting to think this Master Chen makes more than noodles." Lloyd said.
"Morro?" The ninja turned.
"What?" He pulled his eyes away from the paper.
"Oh, um... I don't know." Morro said.
"You can forget bringing in a new Ninja, Lloyd. Let's go see about an old one." Kai said.
. . .
Lloyd and Morro returned to Garmadon's monastery, where they had been living. Lloyd's father had been welcoming and let anyone stay.
Garmadon walked into the main room to find Nya and Wu gathered around a table with blueprints.
"Hm, are you planning on fixing the Bounty?" He asked.
"Yeah, but we could use some help." Nya said.
Lloyd was in his room packing a bag for the tournament. He reached to the side to grab his sword but paused.
"Leave your weapons behind."
Lloyd reminded himself. He sighed as his father opened to door.
"I was just on my way to help Nya and Wu restore the Bounty. Would you like to join? Guess you could say it's all hands on deck." Garmadon said.
"Uh, sorry. The guys and I are going fishing. Team building exercise." Lloyd lied.
"Hm, good to hear the team's back together." Garmadon said.
"Yeah." Lloyd slipped past his father.
Morro was in his room placing nesesary items in a bag. He turned to his staff and took it in his hands. He thought about the weapons rule and smiled. Morro retracted his staff into the little cylinder and places it in his bag.

"Morro?" Lloyd's voice called.
"Yep." Morro replied opening his door to see Lloyd and Garmadon.
"You ready to get fishing?" Lloyd asked.
"....uh, yeah." Morro said. He walked out of his room with his bag.
"Lloyd, you're forgetting something." Morro said.
Lloyd looked at his side to realize he didn't grab his bag.
"Oh!" He exclaimed and started to walk back to his room.
"So the team's back again?" Garmadon asked Morro.
"Yeah, they just couldn't stay away." Morro laughed a bit.
"Hey dad." Lloyd started, entering his room.
"Our elemental power...are there others out there with powers like us?" Lloyd asked grabbing his bag.
Garmadon seemed a little startled and turned to Morro. The wind ninja shrugged.
"Who do you ask?" Garmadon asked his son.
"No reason. It was just on my mind." Lloyd said walking past.
"See ya. Early bird catches the worm."
Garmadon gazed into Lloyd's room and saw a Chinese style takeout box. As Lloyd and Morro left, Garmadon saw that Lloyd had not taken his fishing rod.
"Chen."
The ninja met up and the rendezvous point to find multiple others there, waiting at the doc. Kai, Jay and Cole looked around at the others as the all wore thier ninja gis.
"Ah, I told you we shouldn't have worn them. The Tournament of Elements. You think all of them have powers like us?" Kai asked flipping his hood off.
"When I asked my dad about it, he got really suspicious. Like there's something he's keeping from me." Lloyd said. The ninja turned to Morro.
"What?" Morro asked.
"Is there something you're keeping from us?" Jay asked.
"Yes, multiple things." Morro said with a straight face.
"Well, that answers our question." Kai said.
"The fortune cookie said tell no one or else there'd be consequences." Cole reminded.
"Relax, we're cool." Lloyd said as a ferry pulled up to the docs. The people started to line up and board.
"We don't know yet if this is a trap. Wherever they take us, we have to stick together." Lloyd said.
"Watch your step, madam." A man dressed in red and purple, with a small low ponytail helped a girl in a pastel orange hood. Kai caught a glimpse of her face and stood starstruck.
"We can't let anything distract us. You hear me, Kai?" Lloyd asked waving his hand in front of Kai's face.
"Uh? Uh, yeah. Uh, got it. Whatever you said." Kai said.
"Oh, it's barely been a minute and Kai's already found his target to be victim of his flirting." Morro said walking past him.
"WHAT?!" Kai yelled.
"Master Chen will be charmed to see you've accepted his offer. A Master of Spinjitzu shall fare favorably in his Tournament." The man ushering said in a sleek yet torn voice to Jay.
"Hey, we're not here to fight. We're here to save a friend." Jay replied.
"Don't be so petty, Master Jay." The man reached into Jay's bag and pulled his nun-chucks out.
"Everyone here has something to fight for."
"Chopsticks. I'm a big eater, heh." Jay said. A second later and Jay's nun-chucks were thrown into the sea.
Jay sighed as he walked on.
"Well, if it isn't the master of wind." The man said as Morro walked forwards.
"And if it isn't the master of being a jerk." Morro said as he walked onto the ferry's deck.
"I'd watch your mouth if I we're you." The man spoke.

"Right. But if you want me to be part of this tournament, I suggest you try not to hurt me." Morro said.
Cole and Kai walked on behind Morro looking at each other. They deffinetly know Morro was being suspicious.
"Lloyd, wait!"
The green ninja turned around at the sound of his father's voice.
"If you get on that boat, you may never return." Garmadon said approaching fast.
"What are you doing here, Dad?" Lloyd asked.
"Master Chen is a dangerous man who should never be trusted." Garmadon met eyes with Morro and gave him a small glare. Morro stepped back and shrugged again.
"Whatever he promised you, do not believe him." Garmadon turned back to Lloyd.
"Lord Garmadon. It's been a while. It's Sensei now, correct? I can't remember." The man at the boat said.
"Clouse. I see Master Chen still has you running his errands." Garmadon shot back.
"I have to go, Dad. This is about Zane. It's about family. If we're ever going to be whole again, I have to get on that ship." Lloyd said.
"Last call. Are you in, or out?" Clouse called.
"I can't stop you, son, but I can join you." Garmadon sighed. He walked to follow Lloyd.
"Sorry, no more room in the ship." Clouse said, having one of his men that came talking the crossing plank off.
"No room?" Garmadon asked. He jumped up, kicking the plank and one of the men into the sea, landing on the ferry.
"I stand corrected." Clouse said.
"There's room now."
"Don't worry, I'm not here to compete. Only to look out for my interests." Garmadon said.
"Let's ship out!" Clouse called and the ferry started to move.
As the ninja waited to the travel, they looked around at the other participants using their own elemental powers. Such examples as objects rising from the floor, vines growing from a bamboo staff, or even seeing little sonic waves come out of an instriment, or even as simple as one guy punching a metal barrel in the air.
The ninja grouped together and saw Clouse walking along with a few men behind him.
"You know him. You said his name's Clouse." Lloyd said to his dad.
"Don't be fooled by his attire. He is a Master of Dark Arts and Master Chen's number two." Garmadon informed.
"Huh, I thought Master Chen's number two was an eggroll and fried rice." Cole said.
"Morro, you had no right to talk back to him like you did." Jay said.
"Actually, I had every right to." Morro replied. The ninja were intrigued.
"Explanation. Now." Jay said.
Morro sighed.
"Well he kidnapped me, tried to get me 'on his side' and stuff. But, I escaped." Morro said. The ninja paused.
"....uh, how did you escape, exactly?" Cole asked.
"I snuck out." Morro replied. The ninja seemed disappointed.
"What? Were you expecting me to say I lost control?" Morro asked.
"Well, yeah, that's what I was hoping for." Jay said. Morro glared at Jay.
"Why haven't you or Wu ever told us there are others with powers like us?" Kai asked.
"Because there are some things we don't want you to know. You were led to believe you were special, yet you never questioned where your powers came from." Garmadon said.
"Uh, are you implying that I'm not special?" Jay stepped forwards.
"Everyone on this ship is a descendant of an original Elemental Master." Garmadon explained.
"Elemental Master? Who were they?" Lloyd asked.
"They were the First Spinjitzu Master's guardians, each endowed with an Elemental Power that has passed down through generations." Garmadon replied.
"Such as..." He looked at Morro first.
"Such as your parents, Kai." Morro said.
"if that's true, then so is my sister Nya. But she can't do what I can." Kai said.
"Can't she? Power lies in all of you. It only needs to be awoken." Garmadon said
"The fighters here serve no master and have managed to unlock their own True Potential. For instance, that pale man." Garmadon directed the ninja to a mad wearing brightly coloured clothes, but no skin. He was transparent.
"A distant relative to the Master of Light. Watch closely and you'll see how he's stayed hidden all these years." As Garmadon said, the pale man disappeared from sight.
Then, a young man with slick combed back hair, a white martial arts gi, and red tinted glasses sped past them.
"Then there's Griffin Turner. Grandson to the Master of Speed." Garmadon said.
"Hey, you can't lay a hand on me. I'm faster than fast. Swifter than swift." Turner said to brag to himself. He ran up the levels of the ferry and made it to the top in no time
"Uh, Master of Speed? Pfft. That's not an Element." Jay scoffed.
"So asks the Master of Lightning." Garmadon said walking past him.
"Oh, snap, he got you there." Cole teased.
"And, uh, who's she?" Kai pointed to the girl he saw before in the pastel orange hood.
"I don't know. Most of these people I have not seen. But they will all be gunning for you. You are Ninja. You serve with honor. Here, that means very little." Garmadon said. The ninja sat of a few crates for the trip.
Kai spotted a large man with metal gauntlets and a helmet start to harass the girl.
"Well, maybe honor means something to me." Kai said.
Morro and Lloyd looked at each other.
"He changes his mind pretty quickly." Lloyd said.
Kai walked up to the two.
"It's okay. I can handle myself." The girl said.
"This none of his business. Karlof cold. Karlof just want her cloak." The man, Karlof said.
"You look like you got big enough mittens. Why not leave the gal alone?" Kai said.
The girl scoffed as Kai then turned her gaze back to the sea.
"These not mittens. These crush Ninja." Karlof said.
"Ha, I'd like to see you try." Kai smirked.
"Save it for the Tournament, Kai." Garmadon instructed.
"Don't think Karlof afraid of you." Karlof said.
"No, you don't think much at all, do you?" Kai insulted.
Karlof lifted Kai into the air with his metal gauntlet. The fire master immediately regretted a few decisions.
"Unh! Just jump in whenever you feel like it." Kai told the others.
"You say Karlof not smart?"
"I'd say Karlof is plenty smart not to start something he can't finish." Lloyd stood up. Karlof place Kai back on the ground and punched him away.
"Oopsy. Guess Karlof not smart."
"Kai started this. He can finish it." Garmadon said holding his son to a halt.
Kai jumped up and glared at Karlof.
"Fire!" Kai's hands lit up with a bright burning flame as he shot them forwards. Karlof extended his gauntlets and the fire ball hit them, barely making a scratch. Karlof clanged his fists together, making a sheet of metal cover his body. Seems like this fellow is the master of metal.
Kai backed up, trying time avoid Karlof 's aggressive attacks, but on one, he got slammed into the wall. The ninja poked their heads around the corner.
Karlof launched Kai upwards with a punch and onto the back shingles covering the paddle to the ferry. Kai looked up and rolled to the side, just dodging Karlof's gauntlets. He threw punches until Kai was just on the edge. Kai made it look like he was ready to fight, but when Karlof charged, Kai swirved to the side, making Karlof fall into the water.
Kai walked away laughing until a hand reached out and grabbed his foot. Kai was pulled down to the lower level and tried to parry attacks the best he could. Kai lit his fists on fire once more as the ninja watched from the hole in the deck.
Kai threw more powerful punches, fueled by the fire. He punched Karlof down by the paddle and their fists clashed. The fight was back on the deck as Kai flew backwards from impact. Karlof raised his fists for a final attack.
"Enough!" Clouse shouted.
"I'm sorry if I was cold to you earlier." The girl walked up to Kai as Karlof walked away. She helped him up but Kai could've sworn he felt something when they touched hands.
"We're here. Welcome to Chen's Island." Clouse announced directing everyone's attention to an island just by the rising sun. As they were busy with the sights, Clouse snuck away and took out a communicator.
"Master Chen, Garmadon has returned. He says he will be looking out for his interests." Clouse said.
"Interesting. You worry too much, Clouse. Everything will work out. Just wait and see."
"I swore to never return." Garmadon said gazing at the island.
"You know, you should never swear. It's a sign of weak verbal skills." Jay said.
"If Zane's on that island, we'll find him. We have to." Lloyd said determined.
"I hold all the cards." A man with a high playful voice said. He wore a bony headdress with a purple snake wrapped around item a black cape flowed behind his colourful attire. He walked up to a small wooden door with a little circular window. The man cackled evily as he walked away from the door.
Inside, two little blue lights turned on. And a familiar face looked up.

8 239So I'm a cat, what now?
It seems I've reincarnated into a fantasy world as a cat. What now? This is my first publically published story, and I would love feedback in any form as I have no idea how well the quality of my writing holds up. This story will have light litRPG elements, though I won't dig into numbers much, since I don't enjoy fiddling with them. The tone will be generally light, and I willl probably try to throw some comedy in there as well. The beginning will be Slice of Life, and unless I come up with a longer plot that I like it will stay that way.
