《Brother of Wind (ninjago au)》chapter 26

Nightfall over Ninjago came and darkened the sky. In the depths of Ninjago city, a single serpentine was on the run.
From out the fog, Zane emerged carrying his golden shurikens of ice. Zane stuck them in the ground and the terrain around got covered in a sheet of ice.
The serpentine turned away to run, when the nearest landline lit up with electricity. From out the lighting came Jay, who dawned his nunchucks in his hand and conducted electricity towards the serpentine.
He ran away from the two ninja, and past an alleyway. But in front of the pass, Morro dropped down from the sky. Morro turned his glider into a staff and used it to direct his wind at the serpentine.
Having no where else to run with the three ninja surrounding him, the serpentine fled into the alleyway. Zane, Jay and Morro closed in on him. The serpentine tripped over some small crates and found Kai walking out from a fire slashing his golden sword in the air.
The serpentine turned around to keep running but ran into Cole and fell onto the ground.
"Going somewhere?" Cole said as the others closed in.
All the ninja held their weapons to the serpentine. There was no escape for him.
"Uh-oh." He said.
"Thought you could joyride through town and not be notice, huh? Where's the last fangblade?!" Jay shouted.
"Uh... I don't know what your talking about!" The serpentine replied.
"You know what it is! The fourth fangblade!" Kai pointed his sword closer.
"When pythor finds them all, he plans to unleash the great devourer!"
"Oh, that fangblade! Haha, you're too late! Pythor's already there now. He's probably digging it up already!" The serpentine. The ninja exchanged looks.
"If I were you, I'd start preparing for the worst, because when the great devourer is awakened, there will be nothing it won't consume!" The serpentine shouted.
"Something tell me, you're not that bright." Morro said.
"Won't that mean it'll consume you too?" Zane asked.
The serpentine flinched.
"Ah! Please you have to stop him! That snake is crazy! I don't wanna unleash the great devourer! I'm a snake not food!" The serpentine pleaded.
"Is it really too late to stop Pythor from getting the last fangblade?" Kai asked.
"You're days behind him. There's gotta be something else you can do!!" The serpentine cried. The ninja looked at each other. Well, okay...
Back on the bounty, everyone was in the bridge discussing plans.
"The venomari's right!" Nya said gazing at the large computer.
"By the time we cast sail, clear across the other side of Ninjago, Pythor will have already beat us to the last fangblade." She said.
"Oh, come on guys! This is the last one! We gotta get it! We gotta think of something!" Jay said.
"Hey." Lloyd said. The attention was on Lloyd.
"All we have to do is just get one fangblade to stop him. What if we take back the other three?" Lloyd suggested.
"Pythor wouldn't risk having them all on him. He's probably hidden them somewhere, while he goes for the fourth."
"Great plan bro." Morro said.
"It's so simple." Cole said.
"Why didn't I think of that?"" Kai said.
"It can't be that easy." Jay said.
"Easy? My algorithms suggest taking the other three would be far more dangerous." Zane said.
"Pythor would undoubtedly have them protected by his top generals." Zane finished.
"Heh, finally, I don't have to hold back!" Kai exclaimed.

"Maybe it would be more of a stealth mission. But by experience, stealth may not be the way to go." Morro implied.
"Even if you could steal the other three, you don't even know where they are." Garmadon interrupted.
"He's right. For the past few weeks, there have been almost no serpentine sightings." Sensei said.
"How are they moving around? It's like they're ghosts."
"Or snakes!" Nya announced.
"Bridge, give me a sonar sweep old Ninjago." She told the computer.
The bridge beeped and finally, no results.
"See? Nothing. It's just like sensei said!" Kai sighed.
"But what if they aren't above the ground?" Nya suggested.
"That's it! They're moving around underneath the surface! That's how they get from one place to another!" Morro figured it out.
"Exactly! Bridge, now give me a sonar sweep of Ninjago but 20 feet below surface." Nya said.
The bridge transformed the map into a 3d one, and projected it into the room. On the map, there were red lines underneath, all connecting to one point.
"All the tombs have been inter connected!" Kai pointed out.
"To make one massive underground fortress!" Cole finished.
"And all this time, right under our noses." Jay said.
"Or rather, feet." Zane corrected.
Kai examined the map.
"There!" He pointed.
"That's the most protected area. The fangblades must be there."
"Then what are we waiting for?" Sensei inquired.
"Nya, set the course." He instructed.
"Already on it! We'll be there by sun-up!" Nya announced tapping buttons.
The ninja went out onto the deck to train.
"There is no room for error. The serpentine have shown that they have great powers, and to combat them, you must turn their greatest strengths into their greatest weaknesses." Sensei said aloud.
"Kai! How will you defeat the hypnobrai?" Sensei shouted.
Kai pulled a blindfold over his eyes.
"Their hypnotizing powers are useless if their opponent can fight with out relying on his eyes!" Kai trusted his sword in the air.
"Good. Jay! The fangpire is fast and his bite, sharp." Sensei pointed to the lightning ninja.
"But if he can't bite through your skin." Jay tapped his arm with metal armour.
"He can't turn you into one of them!" Jay said.
"Yes. Cole! The constictai are strong." Wu pushed a button on a remote.
"And they will never let go."
A net came flying at Cole and trapped him.
"But, instead of fighting back, one must try to loosen up!" Cole relaxed his body and wiggled his way out of the net.
"And a little sof shoe, doesn't hurt." Cole danced on the net.
"Zane! The venom in the venomari can make you see things. Cloud your perception." Sensei turned to the nindroid.
"Then I will use my new falcon vision!" Zane said as his eyes lit up with blue light. The falcon who was perched on the roof of the bounty, linked vision with Zane and gave and aerial view. Zane exited his falcon vision, and waved at the bird.
"Morro! The serpentine come in large numbers. When alone in a fight, how will you prevail?" Sensei said.
"You have to control! Control your power. Control your emotions, and your balance." Morro said flipping in the air.
"Also I won't be alone, I have friends by my side." Morro smiled at the other ninja.
"Very good. I have trained you well. You are ready." Sensei said.
"What about you sensei?" Kai asked approaching him.

"Will you fight? We need all the help we can get!" Kai said.
"My concern is that my old bones cannot keep up, but I will be there in spirit." Sensei replied.
"We're arriving at the Mountain of a Million Steps. You all might want to see this." Nya said over the speaker.
The bounty swirled around the peak of the mountain.
"What are those snaked up to?" Cole questioned approaching the edge.
"Wait for me!" Lloyd said juppong done the stairs.
"This is not your fight. The green ninja is too important for a future destiny." Sensei said to Lloyd.
"You shall stay with me."
Lloyd nodded. Nya came flying on the deck in her samurai X suit.
"Well, he's gonna have to look after himself, because we made room for you." Nya said pointing to an extra I seat on the mech's shoulder.
"Well, you said you were concerned that you couldn't keep up, so Jay and Nya rejiggered the design so you could come along. Well, what do you think?" Kai asked.
"I think...shotgun! Haha!" Sensei jumped onto the mech and sat down.
"I will stay back with Lloyd. I don't enjoy saying this but...good luck." Garmadon said.
The ninja climb down a rope into the mountain. When they reached the bottom, there was no on there.
"I thought you said this place would be heavily guarded Zane!" Jay said.
"Hey, everyone makes mistakes!" Morro said.
"Even nindroids do." Zane finished.
"Hey, check this out!" Cole said walking up to the wall with images on it. There was a picture of a ninja with a mustache on it for some reason.
"Pfft! That doesn't even look like me!" Jay complained.
"Ah, they're gonna pay for that!" Kai said clinching his fist.
"I mean at least give me a decent mustache!" Cole dusted off the wall and pushed a button revealing a hidden passageway.
"Uh... I meant to do that." Cole said.
"Come on!" Morro said getting the others to follow. They reached the end of the passageway and looked around.
There were multiple chains hanging from the ceiling and a spiral path that lead down.
"So, what happens when the Great Devourer is unleashed? Will it really consume everything?" The fangpire general asked.
"I hope so, if only to teach the surface dwellers a lesson for locking us underground for so many years." The constictai general said.
"Who knows if the legend is even true? I for one am curious to see what happens." The venomari general said intrigued. Then Skales slithered up to the other generals.
"Keep alert! Pyhtor should be back soon." Skales said.
"There's to many to deal with are once! I saw we travel by shadow!" Kai said.
"Finally, an actual stealth mission." Morro agreed.
"Right behind you." Nya said.
"And I'll be right behind you." Sensei Wu said.
The group started to desende the path, sticking close to the edge.
Back on the bounty, Lloyd walked into the bridge to find his father typing on the computer.
"Transferring files." The computer said.
"Ah! You're stealing?!" Lloyd took notice. Garmadon gasped at the sight of his stone beside him.
"Dad! My friends are risking their lives to save Ninjago, and you go behind their backs to gain an advantage?" Lloyd said angered.
"I'm sorry, but I can't help it. Ever since the Devourer bit me, evil runs through my blood." Garmadon said.
"You left me for so long. Where did you go?" Lloyd approached his dad.
"Son, there are places in this world void of any good. Dark places." Garmadon admitted.
"Is that where sensei found you?" Lloyd asked.
"You know how I've always wanted those Golden Weapons, well, this place allowed me the power to possess them." Garmadon said.
"But why didn't you take me with you?" Lloyd saddened his tone.
"Every boy has the choice to grow up to be who ever they want to be." Garmadon said.
"But I never had that choice. Because I was bitten, evil runs through my veins. But you still have a choice. You don't need to be like me, Lloyd. Your uncle has a plan for you, and even though it may be to stop me one day, we have to follow our own destiny. And after I help the Ninja stop Pythor, I'll need to leave again." Garmadon admitted.
Lloyd turned his head.
"Then why don't you just leave now?!" Lloyd snapped.
"Lloyd--"
"No really! Go back to whatever evil place you came from!" Lloyd turned away.
"Alright! Operation stealth was a total bust!" Nya's voice came in the radio.
"We're gonna need reinforcements!" She yelled.
"Anyone there?"
Garmadon was about to patch her through when Lloyd yelled at him again.
"We don't need your help! And we don't need you here!" Lloyd stated his father's hand off the control panel.
"Maybe it would have been better if you hadn't come back at all."
"If... If that's how you feel." Garmadon lowered his head and exited the bridge.
Lloyd was panicking now, he didn't know what to press or what to do. He started furiously pressing buttons.
"I'm trying to help Nya! Just hold on!" Lloyd shouted.
-In the cave again-
The ninja were spotted, but they didn't stop moving.
"Lloyd? Can you hear me?" Nya said.
The serpentine blocked off their path.
"Ugh. I'm not getting anything!" Nya tole the others.
A serpentine jumped on the red mech then sensei Wu poured his hot tea on him to get rid of him.
"Forget them. We need to fight back! Ninja! Show them what you've learned!" Sensei instructed.
"Always wanted to make you my main squeeze." The contrictai general said as he wrapped Cole up with his tail.
"Urg! Must relax! Think loose!" Cole relaxed his body and slipped out from the constrictai's grasp.
"What?!!" The serpentine exclaimed.
"Haha! Triple tiger sashay!" Cole shouted as he took down three serpentine in front of him.
"You're surrounded, young fire starter. Perhaps you can now do our bidding." Skales said as he tried to hypnotize Kai.
"Ugh! Must not look!" Kai shut his eyes.
"Ninja-go!!" Kai used his spinjitzu to take down his opponents.
"Ah, I wish I could see me now! Because you all just got Kai'd!" Kai yelled excitedly.
Morro got surrounded with a bunch of different serpentine.
"Woah! Come on dude. Focused and stay in control!" Morro told himself as he dodged an attack. Morro then jumped up into the air, spinning his staff around and pounded it into the floor blowing away all the serpentine surrounding him.
"Ha! Wow I'm really thankful Nya gave me this!" Morro exclaimed.
Jay charged up his nunchucks and faced his opponents. The fangpire general snuck up behind him to bite. They biuced back after clashing against the metal armour.
"What's wrong? Don't like the taste of defeat? Well get used to it!" Jay shouted.
Nya landed down in front of Jay.
"Looking good!" She reassured him.
"Hah. Thanks you look great too." Jay smiled.
"Don't mean to interrupt the love birds! But we do have fangblades to capture!" Zane said on the ground level being closed in on.
Zane blew away a serpentine with his ice and shurikens. A venomari spat his venom in Zane's eyes. He started to see vegetables. For some reason.
"Switching to falcon vision." Zane said. The falcon flew above Zane and acted as his eyes. With that, Zane was able to fight.
The ninja were now corned, the serpentine were closing in on them. There were too many of them. They were still putting up a fight back to back.
"Look! The fangblades!" Kai pointed out.
"Will you have the honours?" Cole jolted to Kai.
"Oh no, after you." Kai joked back.
"Gentlemen, please. We need those now!" Morro shouted.
"Fine! Fun police." Cole muttered.
Cole started to run when he passed some runes on the ground. As soon as he did, Cole's hands were trapped with cuffs.
"Ah! It's a trap!" Cole shouted.
The ninja were quick to act, running away from their current position, but they weren't fast enough. A cage sprung up and trapped the ninja with in it.
"Shoot! Really?! Argh I hate this!" Morro yelled. The ninja pulled on the metal bars but nothing would work.
"Come, come, can this get any better?" Pythor said slithering down, holding the last fangblade.
"Seriously, they fell right into my trap!"
"Ahh, this isn't good!" Kai said pulling on the bars. One of the metal chains hooked on to the cage and lifted them into the air. The ninja were now trapped, with no way out.
The only thing they could do now, is wait. Wait and hope that backup will come.

“Per aspera ad astra." Death. Mercilessly, it comes for all. But when a young man is given a second chance – a second life – to experience what he never has, what will he do? Leave the burdens of his past behind, improving upon his faults? Or will he collapse back into old sins, wasting the opportunity given to him? Perhaps even he himself does not know. * Join Andre on his journey as he explores a new world – one ripped straight from the pages of a D&D campaign he's never played. He will face monsters. He will face men. And above all, he will face himself. The story’s genre is your standard progression fantasy, isekai: magic, a system, and a level of technology suspiciously underdeveloped. I’ve borrowed tropes from various books I’ve read like “The Second Coming of Gluttony”. The similarities are there (particularly in the beginning), but I assure you the story is my own. It’s in the first-person perspective and has its own quirks, characters, and world for you to become immersed in. The upload schedule for this will be different from the usual fictions on this site: I’ll release chapters in batches rather than so many a week. I’m a college student, so I don’t want another deadline to worry about. Depending on the popularity/demand of the series, I might increase or decrease the rate of releases. Other than that, I hope you enjoy the story! P.S. This is my first fiction so make sure to point out mistakes wherever you see them. I’m doing this, partly, to increase my skill as a writer. However, be kind! I’m fragile, you know? Warning: ***This is far from your happy-go-lucky, feel-good adventure story. There will be content that some of you might not be comfortable with. And if you're already feeling skeptical reading this, click away and don't come back. If you're still here, what are you waiting for?***

The chapters may also be edited as I go along. That said I hope you enjoy and any feedback is welcome.
