《THE CUNNING VIGILANTE》52. Poisoned

"What's happening?! His condition isn't normal!" Li Jie yelled as he checked Li Wei's pulse.
The pulse was languid, and the body was getting colder. Li Jie panicked as Hui Hua and Jiang Hua checked the cause of Li Wei's weakened state.
"He's poisoned." Jiang Hua said as his eyes narrowed in fright. Hui Hua prepared all the tools and medicines needed for the cure and Li Jie helped checking Li Wei's condition. As much as he felt frantic about it, he remained calm and set away his chaotic mind.
Li Jie checked Li Wei's pale and wrinkled lips down to his wrist. Commonly for people who were victimized with poison had erratic breaths at first and slowly getting dilated. But from Li Wei's case, it was barely noticeable and if he didn't realized that something was wrong, Li Wei may be dead by now.
The poison slowly seeped through his body because Li Wei was unconscious and the symptoms were unnoticeable. It slowly ruining his body inside.
Yes, that was the best case.
"Brother, get me a syringe. I'll check Li Wei's blood and investigate the cause of the poison." Li Jie said seriously as he put a warm cloth above Li Wei's forehead. Hui Hua performed the acupuncture points to let the blood circulate better.
"What is syringe?" Jiang Hua asked confusingly.
'Damn! We don't have syringe in this era yet!' Li Jie almost stumbled on the floor as he realized his sudden words he said to his brother.
"Uh, help me get needles to get Li Wei's blood." Li Jie said nervously as Jiang Hua raised his brows. But, he followed his brother's words and gave the sterilized needle to him.
Li Jie took some drops of blood from the patient and immediately examined it.
As he checked upon it, he was surprised when he diagnosed the wolfsbane poison from Li Wei's blood.
"This is impossible. Wolfsbane poison takes up to two to six hours before it can kill a person. Or, he got a scratch from a weapon containing a wolfsbane poison?" Li Jie pondered as he looked at the infected blood that seemed to darken because of the poison.

"No, I found a fresh wound from his blind spot. The wound isn't that deep, but the poison is lethal. It's just a scratch, but it's enough to seep the poison in him." Jiang Hua said with seriousness and touched the wound from his gloved hand.
"You mean, someone infiltrated here?" Hui Hua asked as he set the tools in order.
"Yes, it seems like that. But let's worry for that later. We need this kid to survive." Li Jie said as he prepared the medicine quickly.
Hui Hua was stunned upon Li Jie's knowledge about the medical field. Howbeit knowing that his brother was a doctor, he finally got it where Li Jie's knowledge came from.
But he didn't know that Li Jie knew all of these knowledge fro his previous life when he was a criminal.
"Is there a cure?" Jiang Hua asked worryingly when Li Jie paused.
"There is no cure." Li Jie said coldly as he clenched his fist. Wolfsbane poison was lethal and commonly used for hunting. However, there was no antidote for that poison.
"What are we going to do now?" Jiang Hua clenched his fist tightly. He believed that he could cure any poison. But wolfsbane, this poison was too fatal that a tiny droplet with a size of sesame seed from this poison could kill a person.
"It only seeped from the scratch and it was not that many."
"But..."
"As long as the patient still alive, I will not give up." Jiang Hua sighed as he saw his little brother's enthusiasm.
'That's it, he's a good doctor.' Jiang Hua thought.
Not knowing that this 'good doctor' sold organs in the black market and murdered people before.
"I'm afraid, it was all up to him now. If he has the strong will to live, he may kill the poison on his own." Hui Hua sighed with tiredness in his eyes.
"What's all the fuss about?" A familiar voice rang inside Li Jie's eardrums and all his worries flew away. Li Jie opened the door and saw Delun's handsome figure. He rushed and jumped to his husband's arms.

Jiang Hua, who saw all of his brother's coquettish actions coughed up blood. How come this cabbage voluntarily offered himself to the pig?
"There's a traitor in the manor, someone managed to poison my trusted servant." Li Jie said sadly as he looked at the latter's body laying in bed. Delun furrowed his brows.
Why would someone barge in the Wei's manor? Not even afraid that the Empress currently stayed here.
"Someone inside might be responsible in this matter." Delun uttered seriously and put his husband down.
"Then, I will go to the Empress now." Li Jie said as he rushed to the Empress' bedroom. Delun smiled at his cute wife and only watched him dashed from the manor's hallways.
As his wife's figure disappeared, Delun's cold eyes flickered and walked back to where the servants usually spend their time. He needed to solve this problem. Their plan in action was about to start, he didn't want their plan to be destroyed.
He walked out of the clinic gloomily, leaving the two confused doctors behind.

"Master, everything's all prepared for the plan. Waiting for your further instructions." Chang Bao dressed as a servant knelt in front of Minister Liu who was sitting on his couch, gazing him as if he was a pile of rug.
"Then, start now."
"Yes."
After that, the plan was executed smoother as expected with the help of his father, Chen Guang and Chen Guang's assistant, Jiao-long.
In the capital, the loud issue of the famous General of Qin colluded with foreigners with illegal trading, stealing treasures, and corrupting His Majesty. The rumors spread like a pandemic, with the help of Chen Guang and Jiao-long wearing all black clothes, disguised as a rebels in the palace. They were throwing papers in the outskirts of the city as if they were bunch of flower petals. The contents were all about slandering the General.
The party all knew that this wasn't a good plan, but this was the best way to trick the antagonist as he felt deep hatred towards the Fengs. Minister Liu thought, he could get His Majesty's attention and raise his rank, and he could deliberately end the Fengs with his own hands. Hearing the rumors spreading inside the city, Liu Ming was beyond happy seeing the righteous Fengs tainted with bad stains.
'Is it true?'
'The General is a scum! Dare to outrage His Majesty like this!'
'Does he have no shame?'
'We don't have evidence yet. Don't clash into conclusions.'
The citizens' hot topic was all about the General. Some had doubts, some had agreed, and some disagreed. After all, no one could really guess if there's no evidence. But not all people had the same opinions.
Hearing this, Feng Qingyuan nearly had a heart attack. He knew that his brother wouldn't do such outrageous thing. Who in the world would slander his little brother like this?
Feng Qingyuan was very angry that his palm dripped blood due to his tight clenching fists.
He was about to rush back to the Feng manor when one of the Feng's bodyguards appeared in front of him.
Min Zhe knelt in front of Qingyuan to deliver Delun's message.
"Master, General Feng said that there's nothing to worry about. He can solve the problem himself. It's best to stay where Master is right now to avoid complications."
Qingyuan was even angrier than before and took a deep breath. "Okay, you're dismissed."
Min Zhe then fled back. Qingyuan know his brother. Once he's determined about something, he would do it in his own way. But he couldn't help but to be angry for keeping a secret from him. He could only sigh and looked up to the sky.
.

.
.
Inside the Liu manor, Minister Liu was in a happy mood as he drank his tea. He looked at the painting on his desk as he sighed resentfully.
"Don't worry A-jin, we will soon have our revenge. Just wait for a while."

The Silver Mana - Book 1: Initiate
I used to be a healthy, young guy with a normal life - I had a career planned in professional soccer, a girlfriend, lots of hobbies, and loads of fun. Until the accident. Which changed my life. A few years later I had adjusted to my new reality, adjusted to being in a wheelchair, adjusted to having someone take care of me 24/7. And then the world changed. Old people and kids did not make it. And neither was I supposed to make it. But never count me out. If anything, I am tenacious. This new world was different. People could do magic. And there were monsters. And what about me? I had mana as well, silver mana. Which no one else seemed to have. The only problem was, I did not know what to do with it. Until I really needed to. Author's note: This is the rewrite of Silver Mana. The first bunch of chapters (until I will have caught up to level 2 of the dungeon) should be quite familiar to people that have read the original. There are some changes in content, but the story follows the original fairly closely for at least the first 150-200 pages. Most of the changes are in the writing, and some of the details of how things work. A few of the side characters get a bit more attention too. Some general comments to avoid disappointment: 1. The MC likes to swear. If you object to reading the word "fuck" at least once and usually multiple times each chapter don't read the book. "Fuck" is such a great, allencompassing word... fuck that; what the fuck?; fuck me! Fuck! one word, expressing so many nuances. And, frankly, the people I know that use fuck as a swear word.. they often use it a lot. 2. If you are looking for immediate progression, rapid advancement of the story, etc.... read another book. This one takes a bit. 3. I am NOT Pirateaba (who is writing The Wandering Inn) or anyone close to that level of productivity. If you expect to read 10k words every 3 days, or even just once a week... sorry. I've got a busy life. This is for fun, I have no patreon, paypal, anything, so I write when it is fun and however much is fun. Not more. And sometimes that turns out to be a decent amount, sometimes nothing. I have another book (Marrow) so that complicated things - basically I switch between the two whenever the muse strikes me.

Am I The Only One Who Is Not Forced to Migrate Across Worlds....?
A random isekai adventure might not be random. Underlying conspiracies, not-so-kind world and most importantly two-faced characters. Only time can reveal the flaws of the so-called Migrators! *** I am rewriting the novel. All this time, I have honing my skills as a writer. As my first novel, this novel served as a self-reflection of how much I improved later on. This doesn't have the most unique of plots but as a first novel, I still have some aspirations and memories.
