On that night, Jiao-long issued the Crimson Beetle organization to march their feet onto the chaotic desert of the western border. Chen Guang was dressed in his former uniform, sighed as he stared in front of the mirror. He picked up his sword, with the color of ebony painted the walls of his scabbard. The handle was crafted with the shape of the crimson beetle in the center, surrounded with two dragons on the side. After such a stare of his sword, he frowned and sighed with indignation. So many years have passed yet his memory still intact inside his head.
Crimson beetle was long gone since the death of the former general. Feng Wenyan, Feng Weiyuan's younger brother, which is Feng Delun's father, rose up as an outstanding General of the Qin Empire. Because of the Crimson Beetle, the military's strength remained the strongest in the entire Empire.
Crimson beetle was the military's secret agents that only the former Emperor, and the Feng elders knew about this. Of course, the captain of this organization was none other than Feng Wenyan. All of their swords had the mark of the crimson beetle, crafted with a fine red jewel and was represented with two dragons beside it.
The Feng family and the former Emperor were such good terms. The ties were inseparable, so the two families trusted each other and never suffer such blows.
Chen Guang was the former general's right-hand subordinate. He was also the trusted man of Feng Wenyan. Chen Giant grew up as a disciple in the Fengs. Without a family, he was an orphan who was picked up by Feng Huang, the father of the two brothers and also the Prime Minister on the time of the former late Emperor. When he arrives the ripe time of age to get married, he married the ordinary girl whom he mutually loved from childhood until now. His time being a soldier had come to an end and decided to lived ordinarily with his wife.
Years passed and they bore five sons. The family was harmonious, they even had another child inside his wife's belly. Chen Guang couldn't get any happier than that. He was beyond ecstatic.
But, it all come into an end when that day came.
As the Empire's trusted soldier, be was rewarded with the position of the Chief Censor. Reminiscing that time, he sneered. If he knew what would happen to his life that time, he should have rather plowing in the fields and farming beside the river with his children. He never would have thought that his life turned into shreds and suffered because of his oblivion.
His life soared a little, but he never thought that his family shattered because of that woman.

He betrayed his wife, he left his sons, he let his sons experienced such harsh conditions, amd forcefully married by a psychotic woman that made his wife go crazy.
And lastly, he let the newborn baby separated by his mother. When he heard that his wife died, Chen Guang's world had turned monotonous. His world was shattered. His life being twisted by agony. His heart had been splintered by shards of glass. Just because of that woman.
Wei Bai, Wei Haoxuan's distant aunt and Chen Guang's second wife cried with regret. He loved Chen Guang so much to the point that he will kill someone for him. He threatened Chen Guang that if he refused marrying her, his family will be eradicated in front of his face. His family will be humiliated in front of the Palace.
What could he, a minor family do? As much as he wanted to rely on the Fengs, he felt the burden on his shoulders. He had five kids and his wife was pregnant. He couldn't accept that his family will be killed and humiliated. And that matter, he agreed marrying Wei Bai.
Every night he cried, yearning for his family, his wife, his sons. He heard that his wife went mad. The family suffered that they almost couldn't eat a single grain of rice. His wife didn't accept his money, nor she accepted his gifts to her. She was drowned with hatred and grief. She almost got miscarriage. Fortunately, he was saved by Jiang Hua who was apprenticing as a doctor.
However, after her labor, Lian Hua, his wife, died with a newborn baby on her arms.
He went mad. He destroyed the backyard, sliced the walls of his house, he broke everything he held. His life was a mess. His wife died because of him, his wife hated him, and his sons hated him. He wished he should have died, but how could he?
How could he die when his wife died in hatred because of him? How could he die without punishing himself? How dare he speak of salvation when he disregarded his family's salvation?
In fact, he was the cause of the fall of his family. How could he, an incompetent husband, should die peacefully?
He rushed out into Wei Bai's room and destroyed all her things. Wei Bai was frightened that she cried. Chen Guang yelled, "Is this what you want? Are you happy that my life was ruined because of you?! My wife is dead, my sons hated me, I lived in this mess thanks to you. Tell me, are you satisfied seeing me living in hell?!"
Wei Bai cried as she spoke, her voice cracked, "I just wanted you to love me. I just wanted you to look at me just once. Tell me, is it wrong to love someone? I always confessed to you from we were kids up until now, but why would you only looked at that woman and not me? I'm always right by your side yet you only think of that darn woman!"

Chen Guang darkened his eyes, the raging fire of anger went aflame inside his heart. Raising his hand, he slapped Wei Bai's face resulting a burst of blood on her lips.
"What are you doing?!" Wei Bai trembled and gritted her teeth.
"What am I doing? My beloved is already gone! Why should I restrain myself for killing you?" Chen Guang laughed coldly. His eyes were bloodshot, his hand holding a sword shaking, wanting to gutter Wei Bai's throat. Chen Guang sneered and looked at her in disgust.
"If you couldn't love me, I should just die!" Wei Bai yelled as she grabbed a dagger and placed it on her neck, hoping that Chen Guang would stop her.
"Then just die ma!" Chen Guang said coldly as Wei Bai trembled.
'Once, just once, I want him to look at me. But why? Why couldn't I get what I love?'
"Why..." Wei Bai cried with sorrow, however, Chen Guang just snorted and said coldly, "Even if I eat shit, I will never ever love you. I will rather eat shit than to look at your ugly face."
Wei Bai clenched her teeth and looked at Chen Gusng blankly. He clenched her dagger and rushed to Chen Guang's direction. At the same time, she yelled, "Then, let's go to hell together! After I kill you, I'll also kill myself and accompany you in the underworld!"
Just as he was about an inch to Chen Guang's body, the blade of the sword plunged her body and she coughed blood.
"Never." Chen Guang's absolute answer. He stabbed Wei Bai to her chest, cut her head, her arms, and her feet. She turned into a lifeless meat lying on the ground. However, he felt empty when he killed her.
No, not enough.
The news of Wei Bai murdered brought news to Wei Bai's parents, and they were angered to death. Although, to their oblivion, they never knew that Chen Guang was the one who killed her.
And to that night, the side of Wei Haoxuan's distant aunt were swept away and killed on the spot. They were poisoned by Chen Guang himself.
They should've educated their daughter and corrected her ways of being a spoiled brat. They never even stopped their daughter and instead, helped her to threatened him to destroy his family.
Now that his wife died,no, his beloved died, what will he fear for?
Chen Guang could only laugh coldly, drowned in his sorrow and agony. Although the side branch of the Wei family was annihilated, the main family, Wei Chun Fai never cared about it. He even blessed the killer for killing them, at least the troublemakers were already gone.
Chen Guang snorted, the life of the rich sure knows love to give people a show.

He showed up in their house, but his sons could only drag him away. They were too young and their mother was gone. They had lived with such difficult situation already, and he blamed himself for it.
Chang Bao gave up his dream as a scholar and volunteered as a personal guard of the crown prince instead. In such a young age, he saw the struggles of his eldest son for his siblings. Chen Guang felt sour in his heart and wanted to stop him. However, his appearance could only bring him hatred, he even looked at him in disdain. In the eyes of his sons, he was only a villain. A stranger who was responsible of their mother's death, an incompetent husband who only watched his family's suffering.
In the end, he was only a father in name, but a stranger in their hearts.
He cried with pain.
He even saw his siblings took care of their youngest child. That child was only a newborn baby, and they even struggled to find a woman that could breastfeed that child. He was so ashamed. What kind of father was he?
He could only watched them in shadows, and helped them in oblivion. If only he was powerful enough, he could've killed that rotten family earlier. However, he couldn't do anything about it and slightly accepted everything. He searched people that could help them, and he succeeded. Although the siblings didn't knew why a certain woman could help them breastfeed their youngest brother, but they were beyond happy about it. The woman with a child took pity on them too, and as a mother, she took care of them as her own.
However, they only pleaded to gave their youngest brother his needs and not need to worry about them. The woman smiled while her heart ached. She wished that if his own child grew up, his child will also be like them, caring and doting gentlemen.
Chen Guang was satisfied, and continued to help them in the dark.
However, one faithful night, he never knew that another problem came towards the Fengs.

The Head That Wears The Crown
It's a tale as old as time. Boy goes to funeral. Boy gets sucked into a different world. Boy has to lead a settlement. Boy has to lead a settlement? Boy has to lead a settlement. This is a story about that settlement, and some other stuff. Maybe. Disclaimer: Not sure if it qualifies enough for a gore tag. There is a description of someone's death somewhere in this, but I don't think it is descriptive enough to justify a gore tag. Disclaimer part deux: I initially started writing this as background for another story but got so into it I just ended fleshing it out a bit. Disclaimer part tres: People love reading disclaimers don't they? It's why I've included so many. They're just for you. Disclaimer part four: I know, this is getting egregious. You're starting to find it less funny. Just wait till the twentieth disclaimer, it will start being funny again. Disclaimer part five: I'm kidding, this is the last one. I don't promise I'll read every comment or message, but I certainly welcome your feedback. Disclaimer part six: I lied, it wasn't the last one. I wrote this story without breaking it down into chapters. It just goes, that means that the chapter ends when it ends, not when there is a convenient break in the story. That means that it's very annoying for you as a reader since chapters can end mid sentence. Hah! Sucker! Disclaimer part seven: Get ready for slow updates. Who knows when this will continue. Toss it on read later and come back in fifty years. Disclaimer part eight: Cover Photo by Arthur Ogleznev on Unsplash
