《THE CUNNING VIGILANTE》21. Hopeless Brother Chang

After that gory thing happened, Li Jie had to admit. He felt nauseous as he kept remembering the killing details lingered on his mind. But it only occurred after he went to the Liu's and gave them a surprise. Honestly, he even wanted to create a banner with a saying of...
"SURPRISE MOTHERFUCKERS! FOUR HEADS FOR DINNER IS SERVED!"
But of course he was not that 'cruel'. It is their own fault for messing with them anyway, what is bad to counterattack them?
Also, after the 'surprise bitch' happened, one certain person remained in the Chen household and kept following the certain master.
The servant boy also named Bo Li Wei started to live in the Chen household. At first, when Jiang Hua happened to be home, he was startled seeing another person in the house. He was about to throw the servant outside when his brother stopped him quickly and smugly said that he was his apprentice.
"Brother! Don't throw him away! I am his shishu so I am responsible of him!" Jiang Hua raised his brows. Since when did his brother take a disciple? And what for? His brother Jiang could only sigh as he looked at his younger brother whose chin was proudly lifted up as his chest puffed too. Right now, the silly, young man with his disciple at his back is so proud being a teacher. His disciple also had this sparkly big eyes as he looked up to his shishu.
Jiang Hua sighed, his brother was too unexpected lately.

Delun discussed the wedding ceremony and then it was also decided to held the wedding in three days. The Royal Guard Chang Bao's face was still sour and his hot tempered aura disappeared in the wind. His entire body is cold, his eyes are cold, his heart is cold, and his aura is cold.
And to the other royal guards, they were all frozen by the summer watermelon that was now a winter melon.
Royal guard Chang Bao is also the Emperor's childhood friend. They grew up together as Chang Bao was also taught in the Royal Palace. It was when his father didn't leave them that time. But still, even their father was gone, Chang Bao still remained the same. He was still the Chang Bao the Emperor knew, but the Emperor kept worrying about his childhood friend that was a hot tempered a**hole now turned into a walking popsicle.
Oh right, it was because of the Chen's youngest brother's 'loving' marriage. As the Emperor's trusting Royal guard and his childhood friend, he was not accustomed seeing this kind of 'Chang'. He almost looked like a zombie. He sometimes screams without someone provoking him. And when others called him, he always glared at them like they were some kind of ugly lemurs. They can only shrink their heads and ran away from the blazing, walking popsicle.

The Emperor sighed, he himself was afraid by his childhood friend. Don't blame him ah! It was Chang Bao who always screams and mumbles even the Emperor wasn't talking to him. It was scary ah! Looks like he was communicating to a ghost.
As for now, Chang Bao was expressionlessly standing on the Emperor's right side as the Emperor was flipping pages from the papers he needed to see and investigate. As he flipped the page, Chang Bao suddenly went 'AHH!' with feelings of frustration as he kept scratching his head, making the Emperor accidentally throw his book because of the sudden action towards his trusted guard. The Emperor sighed. Chang Bao was the only one who has a problem, why did he have to go through this trouble too? Ah! Too unfair for Zhen ah!
"Royal Guard Chang, Zhen feels that you are too unwell. It's best to leave on duty for a while since your brother's..." The Emperor was about to say his 'brother's marriage' when the Royal Guard glared at him, so he paused.
'Seriously, who's the Emperor between us two?'
"What? Want me to dig your eyes?" The Emperor talked casually as he raised his brows. Chang Bao immediately went back to his sullen state and frowned. The Emperor was quite having a day being with his friend who lost his big brain.
"Look, I know that you still can't believe about this matter. But you told me that Li Jie loves him right? What's wrong with that?" The Emperor watched the other as he spoke calmly. Chang Bao looked at the Emperor with heavy thoughts.
'So what?! You expect me to barge in and yell HEY MY BROTHER'S GOING TO MARRY A MUSHROOMHEAD LIKE WHAT?! DAMN I REALLY WANTED TO SKIN HIS ( E) HEAD AND LET HIS PRECIOUS FACE TURNED INTO A SHINY EGG! WHY DID HE HAVE TO MENTION THAT?! PAH!
"Keep cursing inside your head or I'll cut your little bird. I know you brother, you're murdering me inside your head." The Emperor sighed as he picked up the book he throw, he dusted it off and went back to his original state. He was having a hard time with his childhood friend who kept sighing beside him. Somehow, it's not too bad if he really wanted to kill his friend. He was stressed ah!
**********
After his and the Emperor's bickering, he was being 'thrown' outside the palace because the Emperor nearly wanted to drown him into the Yangtze River. The Emperor throw his book plenty times because of Chang Bao. Until his irritation bar went into the maximum level, he throw his book on Chang Bao's face and kicked him outside.

He could only endure his resentment inside and went home. After all, his brother's wedding was three days ahead. He wants to spend time to his brother before a certain, insane person wanted to catch Li Jie.
.
.
.
As he arrived into the house, he immediately saw his brother Jiang Hua combing Li Jie's,smooth hair. They were sitting in the balcony near the window as an unfamiliar person serving them tea. Chang Bao raised his brows and looked at Bo Li Wei. Li Wei was carrying a tray of tea amd sweets. He carefully adjusted himself so the tea will not spill and placed it on the table.
"Bao da ge!" Li Jie exclaimed as he jumped at his brother and clung to him. Li Jie never saw his brother Chang since that dinner and made him think that Chang Bao was really angry at him. He really was scared at Chang Bao back then because of his sudden attitude that was quite peculiar. He even made the Emperor kick him.
Chang Bao sighs, he was hopeless. He still couldn't believe that his lovely brother fell in love with that man. He could remember Li Jie crawling in the sheets and saying "baba" while sucking his thumb. His face was still so little that it was a still a size of a palm, his cheeks still bulging from cuteness. He could still remember how he picked baby Li Jie up as the adorable little baby peed on his face, the baby mercilessly giggled. How he missed playing with his brother when he was young until now, even after that incident and Li Jie started to change, he missed it. He was gone for work everyday tha he missed him grow up. Now that some big bad baron wanted to take Li Jie away from him, he was sad.
It is okay if it is a kind woman, but he knew that Li Jie was not interested with women. Women will only jealous of him because of his incomparable beauty. It's okay if it is a kind man but, how come he end up with that General in-chief?! For goodness sake even Min Zhe wanted to die because of this.
"Hmm. You look cute today." Chang Bao said with fluffiness as if he was coaxing a baby. Li Jie pouted, he showed a fake disdain on his face as Chang Bao coaxed him like a child.
"Brother! I'm going to get married soon! I'm not a baby!" Li Jie chirped. Chang Bao then patted his soft hair and put him on the ground again. At the same time he looked at Li Wei who was stiffly standing near the chair where Li Jie sit earlier. He aroused some deep curiosity of why a certain, unfamiliar young boy was inside their house.
"Li Jie, who is that young boy?" Chang Bao eyed Li Wei as the young boy shrank uneasily. Li Jie chuckled at his disciple as he looked cute.
"He's my disciple and my servant. His name is Li Wei! Isn't he cute?" Li Jie happily cooed and Li Wei slightly twitched his lips.
"Is that a compliment or an insult?" ಥ⌣ಥ Li Wei thought and didn't dare to look at them. Chang Bao find this young boy cute and immediately thought that his brother was cuter. He then rubbed his brother's head and let Li Jie and Li Wei head towards Li Jie's room. They nodded and immediately headed towards his room.
Only Jiang Hua and Chang Bao was left in the balcony. Chang Bao sat besides Jiang Hua and sighed heavily. Jiang Hua looked at his brother whose face was a younger version of their father. Jiang Hua loathed his father, but he dearly admired the oldest Chen for working hard towards their family. So he maybe looked like his father, but the temperament is different. He wished that his father was just like him, but it was the complete opposite. Cheung Chao maybe showed disdain towards Chang Bao because of his looks, but he knows that his brother wasn't like their father who abandoned them like trash. Chang Bao loathed his face of course, but that doesn't mean that he hates himself. Just his face.
Chang Bao leaned on the sofa and closed his eyes, he was hopeless about this situation. He wished that he was a good brother and protect Li Jie from being hurt but he failed.
"You're sighing heavily. It's your brother's marriage soon, you should show your white teeth." Jiang Hua joked to ease the awful atmosphere. But still, he felt heavy.
Chang Bao smirked, he looked at the ceiling and frowned.
"If only it wasn't that man, maybe I could tolerate it. But he was Delun, the one I loathed the most."
He closed his eyes, the miserable feeling he felt wounded his heart again.

Blood & Noodles
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] As they always have, humanity hunts the gods roaming the world, craving the supernatural power that flows within their veins. Even a drop is zealously guarded, passed from master to student through the ages. It is with this stolen power that the Blooded - those with divine blood coursing through them - grasp beyond mortality and achieve prestige, power, and greatness. Yet, for every fraction of power gained, thousands perish, slain by the gods' supernatural prowess. But everything is beginning to change. Eight years ago, for the first time in human memory, a god was felled. Part-time chef and full-time nuisance Orvi wants nothing to do with gods. Living in a derelict city, his only concerns are ensuring his adopted family's restaurant is prosperous and how to best beat the neighbourhood boys in a fight. If he's lucky, he might even snag a date with the farmer's daughter at the market. But even though he cares nothing for the gods or their blood, the world won't leave him alone forever. Because to reach godhood, one must first leave their humanity behind. *** The first arc of Blood & Noodles follows the adolescent Orvi as he attempts to navigate his rapidly changing home and - by his own definition - protect his family. The story is told almost entirely in the first-person, from the perspective of a teenager who isn't always the sharpest tool in the shed. There are tragic elements, especially in the current arc. It's character-focused and driven, though the protagonist's shenanigans are backdropped by a world operating independently from him. Orvi's a generally light-hearted character, and though the story veers into darker territory, I also want it to be able to make readers smile. Action sequences, despite the fantastical elements, are meant to be grounded and clearly-conveyed; Orvi is a brawler, not a warrior. I'm trying to write a story that's enjoyable to read and flows nicely, mainly because it's more fun to write. I'm also trying to improve my writing, so any feedback, whether positive or negative, is welcome!

The Favoured, immortal mages of immense power vie for territory and power in the Fabric. Umbra a naive ward of the Duke is almost Grown and that means she will need to take an apprenticeship. The issue is she isn't good at anything, but she catches the eye of a master of magic, he thinks she might be one of the fabled Protectors the ones that would save them from the coming destruction. But Umbra isn't the hero everyone wants her to be. Updates will at least one chapter every two days. Notable Location Poliagoras. Poliagoras is the most important world in the Fabric partly due to it being the centre of everything both literally and metaphorically. Trade, commerce, travel, and politics are all conducted primarily on Poliagoras, it has the biggest city in the fabric stretching to cover almost the entire world. It also holds all the known Great portals in the Fabric which are the only way to travel to other worlds. Even without these things, Poliagoras would still be the most important world in the Fabric as it is home to the largest population of Favoured. They were mages chosen by the Deities and given the potential to become more than mortal. I cannot overstate how appreciated constructive criticism is. This is the first story I have written of my own volition so even a small comment on how I could improve would be great. The current title is most definitely a working one. I know it isn't great.
