《Dark Lord》Chapter 43

RuJin closed his eyes, feeling another presence in the room with him, but he also wasn't too sure. Whoever it was, they were good at masking their presence. But yet, even though RuJin couldn't see who it was, the aura they emitted felt familiar. As soon as RuJin thought that, he shook the thought away from his mind. It was nearly impossible. Plus, he wouldn't hide his identity at all.

So as RuJin thought this, he carefully tried to locate the person.

Just then, the sound of a door slamming stopped his actions. Racing towards him was someone familiar. It was Xi Yu. RuJin was surprised to see her here so soon.

But....something was odd about her. She seemed stronger than what he knew, much stronger. The Qi radiating from her was strong and thick, if anything, she seemed weaker than RuJin, but much stronger than anyone else.

"Who are you?" Right away, RuJin knew that this wasn't Xi Yu. Although it was the same body, the soul inside seemed different. At the same time, the question was directed to the mysterious presence in the room, the one that got fainter and fainter as every second passed.

Xi Yu stopped, looking into RuJin's eyes as tears appeared on her face. Without any sense of danger, she raced towards him, throwing herself in his arms.

"Jin-ah, Jin, I'm back. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." Xi Yu held onto RuJin tightly, her tears dripping as she apologized.

This title of endearment, RuJin knew all too well. But it was impossible, it couldn't be true. This person, how could she be back?

"You, who are you?" RuJin had an idea about who it was, but he was scared that he was going crazy. He was afraid that he was just imagining things because of how much he missed this person. He feared that this person would disappear once again, that he would have to lose her once again.

"Jin, it's me. It's your sister, Zu Yu Xi. Brother, I have missed you so much. When I heard about your return, I wanted to come right away but I wasn't strong enough yet. Brother, I miss you so so much." Yu Xi stroke her brother's face, consoling him for all the struggles that he had lived through.

This body was also her. Xi Yu was also her. After reincarnation, she found out that her soul had been split into two. When she was born once again in this world, she found out that only half of her soul still remembered who she was in her past life. That half of her soul was what she called herself. The other half was called Xi Yu, the princess of Fuyin, controlling their body. Xi Yu didn't remember, but she did feel the same feelings Yu Xi did for RuJin. That was why she wanted to protect him so much.

During the time that Xi Yu was controlling their body, Yu Xi relived what her mother had told them. With the help of her mother's words, she cultivated half her soul to become stronger than the other. Yu Xi was stronger than Xi Yu, much stronger.

"I will explain to you later, I know this is hard to take in. First, we need to deal with the person here." As Yu Xi said that, she turned her body around, directing it towards the corner of the entrance.

But, just as she was about to attack, she faltered. Confusion struck her in the head, and she couldn't help but think.

"This.....isn't a person. No, he is a person but, he is now a puppet. I can tell that he is powerful, but, he seems to be held against his will? Or is he being forced to obey the words of someone else?" Yu Xi tried her best to analyze the mysterious figure, but she was left confused.

Just then, the presence disappeared. Yu Xi looked at the empty corner, her heart heavy. This person, who had sent him? Who was trying to kill her brother? Or, why was this person following their orders?

"It's alright, let him go. I need you to explain to me first. Come sit here, we have a lot to talk about." RuJin didn't care about the presence anymore. For now, all he wanted to know was how his sister had come back.

Maybe it was because of the realization that Yu Xi had come back, but RuJin seemed....a little more joyful. His eyes were still harsh, but they were a little warmer, and even though one could barely tell, his eyes had more light in them. Even he, himself, didn't know, and Yu Xi couldn't figure it out too.

As Yu Xi sat upon the chair, she took a deep breath. She had a limited amount of time until Mo Xin and that other dude pops up, and she needed to make it understandable.

"After mother told you to run away, the both of us...we were killed. I don't know what happens afterwards as my soul left my body but, I knew that it must have been a devastation for you. As I was left clueless, my soul had took me to the river of oblivion, the place where with one cup of the forgetfulness, I would've forgotten everything in my past life. I think that a part of me knew about that, so I ran away instead."

"By mistake, I ran into mother again, I was so happy to meet her. Then she began telling me things I never expected. She told me that our family descended from an ancestor who was known for her evil doings. So as a punishment from heavens, all descendants from her were born with an inkling of dark energy in them. I believe that we were the reason all the other villagers were killed, that it was because of us. But then I realized, no matter what, it wasn't us who had done any wrongs."

"Mother taught me a few things needed to become a powerful cultivator. After she taught me those things, she split my soul into two without me knowing, but I think that was the best way to do things. After I reincarnated, although only half of me knew about my past life, that was enough to keep me striving to become powerful. To make sure that no one found out about me, I sealed my other half from remembering anything that Yu Xi did. If Xi Yu were to do something, Yu Xi would remember, but if Yu Xi were to take over the body and do something, Xi Yu wouldn't remember."

Yu Xi opened her mouth to say some other things, but the door opened and Mo Xin along with Xue Yu ran in.

As Mo Xin saw RuJin, she paused. Then, she slowly walked forward.

"Hello, Jin."

Though said in such a familiar tone, there was a sense of lost.

What should she call him when he identified himself as the Dark Lord now, when he was now RuJin, and not LuJin?

Though Mo Xin was so confident before, now she was struggling.

It wasn't that she was wavering in her feelings, she just didn't know how Jin would treat her.

She was scared that she would lose her brother too.....
