《Dark Lord》Chapter 42

Mo Xin followed closely behind Xi Yu, her steps light, making sure not to make any noise that could alert people. Her breathing was kept to a minimum, to the point where only her chest was moving by a little bit. As she walked behind Xi Yu, her eyes trailed to the place they were in. The place they were in was a dark valley, forest stretching on and on. Trees lingered everywhere, and no sign of life were spotted in the forest. This sign itself was already telling Mo Xin that this place was dangerous.
In front of her, Xi Yu looked around carefully, trying to make an idea of how far it would be until they would be able to see buildings.
One step, then two, Xi Yu could feel her heart running a thousand beats per minute. She was anxious and most of all, scared about what would happen next. Although she knew that Jin wouldn't attack her, that wasn't to be sure with everyone else who were under him.
She looked at Mo Xin who was following her, a sense of relief flowing into her. No matter what happens, Mo Xin was much stronger than her and would be able to get out alive. Xi Yu wasn't strong, maybe in the nations she was strong, but here, she was considered one of the weaker ones.
Just then, Xi Yu heard human voices.
"Have you found the intruders yet?"
"No, we have sent our troops out, but we haven't found them yet. We will try our best to find them."
"Good. Make sure to keep them alive. We can't kill someone who isn't sent from the sects nor associated with them. The Lord has returned, he wouldn't want blood to be shed right away."
"Yes, General, we understand well and will make sure that nothing happens."
"You may go now."
Xi Yu tried to look into the dense forest, but she was only able to make out the figures of two men. From the respect in the other's voice to the other person, that person must be a high ranking person under Jin's power.

Xi Yu signaled a sign to Mo Xin to tell her to be quiet. They couldn't get found out now, they were close, much closer than she had thought. If they play it carefully, they should be able to make it there.
Xi Yu had decided, from the moment that she had left her brother, that she would be under Jin's command. Although she knew that she wasn't powerful, she was still willing to side with Jin. That was the same as Mo Xin. The two had talked about this before setting off.
They both had agreed that they were willing to be on Jin's side in the war. Mo Xin knew the sacrifice needed to save her brother, and Xi Yu knew what she had to give up to protect Jin. Although the two were strangers brought together by the same goal, they still felt much closer with just this thought.
Xi Yu stepped closer, sensing that both the men had left. She could feel Mo Xin following her from behind, and her steps got wider.
As they came out of the forest, no one was around them. Xi Yu knew that she couldn't be relieved yet. First, they needed to find Jin.
"Wait, something is wrong." Mo Xin could tell that something was wrong as soon as they stepped out of the forest. She was more powerful than Xi Yu, she could tell that something wasn't right.
At that moment, the sound of air being sliced echoed. Mo Xin was alert at once and grabbed Xi Yu, swinging out of the way of the arrow that was released at them.
She looked around, trying to see who had shot at them. From far away, she could see the slightest figure hidden away by a tree. Mo Xin did not want to attack someone who worked together with her brother. She was willing to defend herself and Xi Yu, but she wasn't going to attack.
"Whoever you may be, I want you to know that we mean no harm. Even though I will not attack you, I am still going to defend myself from your attacks." Mo Xin stood up straighter, her voice piercing through the cold air, her whole-being seemed dignified.

She waited for a second attack, but it never came. Then, the figure stepped out, showing a man as he walked towards them.
He was tall, standing at about 189 centimeters, his feature were chiseled and defined, his body was a bit buff but not by too much, and his eyes were a piercing black. His skin was not in the pale side, leaning more towards tan, and although his features did not make him stand out too much, with his aura, it enhanced his features.
"Who are you two?" Xue Yu stared at the two women in front of him.
One was more of a frail looking beauty while the other had a sharp edge to her. She was more beautiful as she stood in front, her power not wavering, and she did not cower in the face of danger. But the more frail girl also had an edge to her, in her eyes, it seemed as if she knew many things no one else did. Her eyes were deep and troubling.
Xue Yu knew that although he was one of the most powerful person in the valley, he still couldn't let that get over his head. The two women, although they didn't appear to be so dangerous, they had an air to them that made them seemed to glow. It was like a sign telling others not to mess with them.
Xu Yi looked at Mo Xin, shaking her head, to tell Mo Xin that it was okay to disclose their identity.
Mo Xin turned to look at Xu Yu quick, then turned back to reply. "My name is Mo Xin, Nangong Mo Xin, and this is Xi Yu, Xi Yu Fei. We need to talk to the Dark Lord."
"What! Do you even know what you're asking? You stepped onto this land, and are considered intruders and now you wish to talk to the Dark Lord. First of all, how do you even know that this is the place where the Dark Lord resides? Are you two people sent form the Sects again? Because if you are, I'm afraid I'll have to get rid of you two." Xue Yu did not hide his anger. These two women should know that they have no reason to be here in this place, and could easily be killed. But how did they even know that the Lord was here?
Xi Yu suddenly felt a hard bang against her head, her eyes went dizzy, and a screeching sound felt like it was going off in her ears.
"I beg of you, take me to him. I promise that I will tell you anything you want to know, I just need to talk to him." In all of Mo Xin's life, this was the first time she had ever begged someone, especially a stranger who's name she didn't know for something.
"I can't do that, you two are suspicious, especially since you know where the Lord lives." Xue Yu knew that he couldn't be weak in front of these two women, he needed to remind them how dangerous this place was for them.
Just then, Xi Yu spoke up. But for some reason, her eyes were glazed, almost turning gray as she looked off until the distance.
"He's in danger." Xi Yu's voice sounded light, but something was off about her. Though it was the same body, the same voice, something about her was different. It was like a different soul had taken over her body.
"What?" Xue Yu could notice the difference in Xi Yu's demeanor too.
Without saying anything more, Xi Yu ran towards the middle of all the buildings, dodging as she ran in, not bothering to looked behind.
Xue Yi and Mo Xin looked at each other before they immediately sprinted behind her.
He was in danger.
That's all they needed to know.
That's all she needed to say, she couldn't lose her brother, not like how he had lost her and their mother in the past.
