《Dark Lord》Chapter 17

Jin looked down at all these people gathered up to watch this fight. And those that participated in it.
He smirked, his red eyes glinting from the sun, shining tightly. His long, white hair, that was tied up, drifted from the wind, gently flying. The mark on his face shone, a warning to everyone.
He came to a stop, continuing to wait. His family followed him.
Wu Luiyin looked up at that voice. That voice that seemed so familiar, but also so different. He knew this person all too well.
But when he spotted that man, he couldn't believe. Was that really him, or was he just imagining it?
But he knew that he wasn't. It was real. That was really him. That was Jin.
How did he change? He almost couldn't recognize him. He was so different, everything about him had changed.
Xi Yu looked up, her eyes clouded with tears as she knew that he had finally arrived. She knew who he was right away. He has change. On the outside and the inside. This was for the best. Now he wouldn't be hurt ever again.
Xianghou, Fuyin, Loxou, Wangji, and Yangguan. The nation's that made up the Five Nation's.
Each sect was the most powerful sect of that nation. Sent to achieve the title of strongest sect in the Five Nations.
Xianghou sent Heaven's Sect. Fuyin sent Tian Sect. Loxuo sent Mian Sect. Wangji sent Bazu Sect. And Yangguan sent Yang Sect. All powerful, but also weak.
Three disciples were sent from each sect, along with one elder.
Why didn't anybody send Shadow Sect as their representative? Because those who were able to track them down, never came back. At least, not alive.
Jin landed himself onto the platform.
The crowd felt their body stiffen, sweat beginning to appear on their forehead. Not to mention them, even the participants of the competition were struggling to remain still.

The oppressive aura coming from those five people were stronger than an entire sect. But the one up front held an even stronger aura. They felt terror. There was extreme bloodlust coming from that aura.
A sound rippled through the air, as an arrow flew towards Jin. He merely looked at it, and put his hand up.
"Stop." He commanded.
The arrow dropped down.
"State your name, and why you have intruded upon this competition." A voice asked.
Such courage they had for being so weak.
Jin didn't know who this person was, but he was going to use him as a warning anyway.
Jin's eyes darted around, searching for the speaker. Finally finding him, he used his power to lift that man up into the air.
The man screamed in terror when he found himself in the air.
The man stopped right in front of Jin.
"Such bravery you have. But in front of me, that is something useless. Nobody, orders me around like that, ever! Bravery is useless when up against power. Think of it as your mistake for being a fool. Only at Silver Rank Level 1 and acting like such a big shot." Jin said. His voice turning cold, his eyes glaring at the man.
The man's body went limp, as he fell on the platform, making a sound. Then, his whole body was burnt into nothing.
Everyone's eyes landed on Jin. Not being able to believe it. This guy, he was even scarier than King Yama (King of Hell).
"Jin." A voice entered Jin's ear.
Hearing it, Jin felt this uncomfortable feeling inside of him for just a second before regaining his composure.
"To call me such a name like that, as if we know each other. I don't know who you are, so it would be best to stop before you become like that other man." He warned.

Jin didn't like his name coming out of that man's mouth.
Jin looked towards that direction, finding a man dressed like a prince. Immediately, he knew that this was the Crown Prince of Xianghou, Wu Luiyin. Next to him, a small child sat on the chair, looking intently at him, Wu Wenting, he presumed.
Wu Luiyin froze in his seat. Did Jin say that he didn't know who he was? At first, he thought that he was lying, but when Jin still had that threatening look. Then he knew that it was true, Jin no longer knew who he was.
Xi Yu sat on her chair, looking at Jin, then Wu Luiyin, and suddenly broke into a smile. He lost his memory. That meant he no longer knew who that guy was, and doesn't remember what had happened to him. But then, he must've forgot her too. Her face changed, deathly pale. She clench her teeth before finally sighing.
It was fine. Even if he forgot, she wouldn't. She didn't like him as in liking him and wanting to be his wife, but the kind of like/love that best friends would have.
She could somehow find a way to get close to him. Even though she knew it would be hard when he had become a total different person.
Wu Wenting sat on his chair, his hands on his father's clothes, tugging it lightly when he got no response. Seeing that his father wasn't responding, he looked towards the direction his father was facing. There, he saw a man with pure white hair, vibrant red eyes, and a black mark on the left side of his face. The mark stood out because of his pale skin.
Right away, he was able to sense that this man was a strong cultivator. Even stronger than his father.
He knew that he wasn't the typical 1 1/2 year old child, but he had been different since birth. When he was 5 months old, he had already learned to walk, and when he was 7 months old, he started to speak.
He knew who this man was. The way his father looked at him, his eyes held tenderness and deep love, something that not even he had gotten.
His father would talk about a man that had once been his. Willing to take a wrongly accused crime, and almost died. He would talk about how he had loved that man and that man had also returned his love, the promise they had once made, and how he was the one to break it.
And he also knew about the fact that his mother had poisoned her and him just to get that man killed. His mother was a scheming woman, someone who would always think she deserves better. In the end, he was unable to cultivate due to her. Though, he was happy when he was told that she had been banished from Xianghou.
Now, he had only one mission in mind.
Bring his father and that man together again.

The first chapter is an extended prologue that sets the scene of a riparian frontier of an alternate world, somewhere between medieval and the pre-industrial age, during an era of turmoil and possibility. A mysterious man is summoned to bring forth a new kingdom, but does he bring hope or calamity?

8 81Deliverance : an adaption of Jane Eyre
This is one of those 'what if' adaptations. I've always wondered why Mr Rochester had to be broken so thoroughly before he could be happy with Jane Eyre. What if she had not been able to get away, what if he had been waiting by her door a second time, pleading her to stay? Would she indeed have lost herself and been made his mistress?
