《Dark Lord》Chapter 12

Jin lifted his head up at the sound of the door opening. His eyes landed on Wu Luiyin, as Wu Luiyin walked closer to him.
"Jin, please, tell me why you would do something like this?" Wu Luiyin asked.
Hearing this the pain he felt in his heart only worsen. Of course. Wu Luiyin didn't love him anymore. He didn't love him, and therefore, wouldn't believe his words. But he had no evidence to claim that he didn't do this. Even if he did, why would Wu Luiyin believe him?
Love was beautiful. But it was only able to live for a short while before disappearing. His cold eyes looked up at Wu Luiyin.
"I didn't poison her." He stated.
"Jin, if you tell me the reason why you did this, I can give you a quick and easy death. Otherwise it would be death by 3,000 cuts." Wu Luiyin said, his voice turning stern.
It didn't seem like he was talking to someone he had loved. No. It seemed like he was talking to someone who had betray him.
Jin's heart turned colder as he heard these words. Death by 3,000 cuts? It was the most painful death you could experience. You would experience yourself being cut endlessly and would then be left to die, after hours. That was if you haven't die from blood loss yet.
It seems like no matter what he did, he wouldn't be able to gain Wu Luiyin's trust anymore. What was the point of talking anymore? Wu Luiyin wouldn't believe him.
Hearing no reply from Jin, Wu Luiyin prepared to leave. When he exited the door, his voice sounded out.
"Please enjoy the last day of your life."
Enjoy? Even if he was going to die, he would choose that instead. He would choose death rather than the pain of someone you love betraying you. If he had left Wu Luiyin, maybe now he wouldn't be experiencing this pain. If only he hadn't saved him.

The whole nation was in an uproar. The male consort that the Crown Prince had taken in, was sentenced to death by 3,000 cuts. Rumors flew about, as the talk became even more heated. The male consort was going to die from 3,000 cuts tomorrow.
Even the Empress and Emperor weren't spared from this shock. The Empress took it harder. She didn't believe that Jin would do such a thing, but she couldn't talk her son out of doing this. She could only watch on as this happened.
Jin opened his eyes at the sound of the door being unlocked. It seems like the day has already passed. As he was dragged outside, the weather had drastically changed. The cold wind blew past him, and all signs of the flower had disappeared. How long has this been going on?
Jin was dressed in a white robe, as he kneeled in front of Wu Luiyin. His knees were cold at the touch of the hard ground against it. His eyes wandered around, seeing that many people had come today.
He stared at his maid, knowing full well that she would try to stop what was going to happen. He lightly shook his head at her, he knew that she would get the message.
Xi Yu covered her mouth, muffling her cries from getting out.
She wanted to shout, to scream out that it wasn't her Consort's doing at all. But she knew that if she did, her Consort wouldn't like that one bit. She had to fulfilled all her Consort's request. Even if it was this, she couldn't find it in her to not fulfill it.
She could only watch as her Consort kneeled for his death.
Then, his eyes landed on the Empress, who was trying to hold back her tears. Her face showed sadness, but also helplessness.

Wu Luiyin took a look at Jin before stepping away and sitting on the chair that was prepared for him. Ru Lian held her belly beside him. Her eyes held immense hate and her lips were up in a smirk.
"Begin!"
The palace guard lifted up the knife.
With that, the first cut engraved itself in Jin. The first one was bearable, but as it continued, the pain got harder to bear with each one. The blood that he was losing wasn't little. Not to mention that his health was good either.
At 200 cuts, snow started falling. As the snow piled up more, it was dyed red with Jin's blood.
Pain. That was all he felt. But it was even more painful to watch Wu Luiyin stare at him with no emotion in his eyes.
Jin clenched his teeth, not willing to make a sound even though it was painful.
At 1,000 cuts, Jin was extremely pale. His face held no color to it and his lips were turning blue. His body was covered in cuts, and the white robe he was wearing was no longer white, but instead, a bright red. Many cuts were engraved into his beautiful, pale skin.
The Empress couldn't bear this pain. Her heart ached for Jin. There were still 2,000 cuts to go, and she knew that Jin couldn't bear this pain anymore.
In a far away place, a lady sat on the stool. There was no sound and only silence lingered. Her head lifted up at the sound of numerous small cracking. Her eyes held panic, and worry clouded her eyes, as she looked at the many small cracks on the Life Jade, placed in a beautiful box.
No. It wasn't possible. She got up immediately, grabbing the Life Jade. After finding the location of where he was, she disappeared.
Life Jades were pieces of Jade that told whether someone was still alive or not. If it shattered, that meant the person was dead. If it started to crack, it meant that the person was in extreme danger. Life Jades were bounded to the person who uses it.
They were common amongst cultivators, but only a few could track down someone's location.
2,000 cuts. By now, Jin had sweat forming on his forehead as he fought the urge to scream. He knew that no matter what, he wouldn't be escaping today.
The Empress could no longer take it. She looked at her husband, her eyes begged him to give Jin a quick death. To stop this torture, and let him go.
The Emperor saw the look in the Empress's eyes and immediately understood. He knew that she thought of Jin as her own child, and no mother would want to see their child suffer.
"Enough! Behead him!" The Emperor's voice sounded out.
Jin closed his eyes, thanking the Emperor and Empress for their kindness.
The palace guard was handed a sword and turned in the knife. Right as he lifted it, a shout came out.
"How dare you!!!!!"
A tyrannical aura stretched out, everyone felt it, and many fell to their knees and coughed blood.

We like to think there are no monsters. No magic, no gods, nothing waiting in the night but the stars and cold, hard science. It’s a comforting thought. It isn't true. Magic isn't common, mind you.
