Chapter 52 : The Sea Serpent's Trial Part 2
Liu Xiao called out in shock.
The octopus stopped wriggling and it's grumpy eyes glanced down at him, his gaze moved To Wu Qingge's direction and the octopus started to tremble wildly.
Liu Xiao gasped silently. That thing's sacred?! But that tentacle is the best to make bunch of sushis though... Wu Qingge glanced at Liu Xiao then indifferently looked up to the octopus as he replied,
The octopus's eyes widened and started to growl at him.
Liu Xiao yelled back, trying to calm him down then glared back at Wu Qingge who was looking away.
The octopus raised his eyes.
Liu Xiao nodded and answered,
the octopus took a step back and glanced down t Liu Xiao.
Liu Xiao awkwardly laughed and repeatedly agreed. He knew that the Sea King octopus is a high and mighty creature and likes to brag about how high he is so he had no choice but to agree on his every boast and lowered himself. The octopus keeps praising himself while Liu Xiao is agreeing to his self compliments, the two of them talked a bit more until Wu Qingge from the back went forward to ask him.
Liu Xiao glanced back t him and immediately answered,
Back when he was at the modern world on his family reunion, his grandpas are always talking like; "Hey, i caught a big fish!" then the other would be "You caught a fish? Then i caught a shark!" then the other granpa will also be like "Just a shark? I have a pet whale back at home! You should see it!" and they will boast about non real things on themselves until they were saying that they owned the whole ocean and their past lives were gods, nobles or shitty theories.
( Hahaha! This is just based on my household cause whenever my family had a reunion, the grandpas on our house would always talk about their "oh wow!" achievements that is not really real. 🙂 )
Then when Liu Xiao will be left with his grandpas, he will be forced listen to all their bullshit achievements and be like; "Oh, wow! You did it?!", "How amazing! I'm envious to you grandpa!" or "Wow! You're awesome grandpa!" compliments then those grandpa's noses will turn so long like Pinocchio from all the bragging and praise. But deep inside, Liu Xiao was cringing to death and wished that the family reunion will end immediately.

Back to the reality, the octopus laughed merrily and patted Liu Xiao's head with his chopped tentacle and shouted,
Wu Qingge's face turned gloomy and pulled Liu Xiao away and he answered on his stead,
The octopus snapped at him and his eyes turned into a deep frown.
Wu Qingge indifferently nodded and replied,
The octopus was astounded and was taken aback after a while.
Wu Qingge paid him no mind and stared at Liu Xiao who was looking at both of them as if he had seen two children plundering over on a single toy. Liu Xiao sighed and shook his head to erase the thoughts and looked up to the angered octopus.
Liu Xiao realized that he was taking too much time so he decided to get straight to the point.
The octopus immediately answered his question without suspicion.
Liu Xiao's eyes brightened and abruptly nodded his head.
The octopus laughed loudly and turned around.
Liu Xiao shook his head and replied with a smile.
The octopus glanced back at Wu Qingge direction and humphed.
The two of them rode on top of the octopus's head as they swim to the ocean full of beautiful corals and fishes that was actually an illusion. The octopus then started to speak and Liu Xiao listened intently.
Liu Xiao grinned.
The octopus humphed and continued,
Liu Xiao nodded. So that's why those nobles who sailed the sea came back empty handed. Because Sea Kings wasn't able to do anything as they please... They have no freedom, huh? That's kinda tough. The octopus then continued with his story as he swim forward to the ocean.
Liu Xiao staggered as he thought. The book says that mermaids are creatures who always seek for love, and that pearl of life was priceless and an incomparable treasure. Could it be that the Sea Serpent loved someone and was betrayed in the end?
Haa... Your highness, for all the things you can love... Why a fucking human?! People everywhere are all sweet talks and shits! It's obvious for her to get used because she's too ignorant on the ugly side of humans.
The octopus continued again.
Liu Xiao awkwardly laughed and realized that they were already infront of the massive Water Palace. It was like a palace made of corals painted in teal blue. There were glowing corals on the ground everywhere and swimming fishes all over. A beautiful statue of a mermaid and a sea serpent intertwined on each other was displayed on top of the castle and it was radiating a teal blue sparkle.

the octopus leisurely swum up and Liu Xiao and Wu Qingge followed behind him. A little mermaids painted in a glowing teal blue color was swimming and spinning around them as they let out a tiny giggles and sound of a glass clanking as they swum in an elegant and alluring way.
The little mermaida was faceless but their voices were like a songbirds that was singing as they fly up in the air. The voices was pleasing to hear, and the clanking sound seemed magical as they spin around the two if them with a sweet tiny giggles.
Liu Xiao uttered while he raisedhis hand to touch them. The little mermaids hugged his index finger and giggled again as they spinned aroun while swimming in the water.
Wu Qingge on the back spoke,
Liu Xiao frowned and glanced back at him.
Wu Qingge looked at him with a slight confused face.
Liu Xiao glanced at the dancing little mermaids as he continued,
The two of them was taken aback when the octopus called them from afar.
Liu Xiao approached the gigantic teal blue doubled door and went inside. A beautiful alligned pillars with a sea serpent wrapping on it was decirated on the side of the beautiful hall a chandelier made with glowing teal blue corals was hanged on the ceiling and there were different types of nice figures gracefully carved on the walls.
A slight ray of light were passing on the window and a few fishes were swimming inside. Everything inside was painted teal blue and a small sounds of singing glowing little mermaids was echoing through croners of the silent hall.
Liu Xiao glanced at the octopus and asked,
The octopus answered with a laugh,
For some reason, Liu Xiao was feeling bad for the mermaid because he imagined himself givung everything he had for the one he loves just to be betrayed cruelly like that and you also ended up killing that person. He felt that the demon mermaid must've suffered for a long time and didn't dare to let other people pry on her own sufferings, not even her loyal Sea Kings subordinates.
"Liu...."
"Xiao....Liu...."
"Brother.....Liu...."
Liu Xiao held his head because of the ringing sound that resonated on his ears. He looked around the beautiful teal blue palace to find the person who was whispering on his ears. It was a man d alao a woman so Liu Xiao thought that it must be Bai Lan and the others. They were the only who was permitted inside for the trial... So maybe...
Liu Xiao's eyes widened.
The octopus was also about to say something but he suddenly disappeared in the air, leaving Wu Qingge and Liu Xiao alone standing in the middle of the massive pillars that were wrapped by a beautiful carved sea serpents.
The trial must've started long ago, then Chen Yi and the others had failed the trial and left them injured somewhere. Liu Xiao glanced at the countless doors around the pillar to decide where he would go fice to save them but a sweet laugh reverberated throughout the majestic carved ceilings of the teal blue palace. The glowing teal blue chandelier that was made of combined coral reefs died then glowed again as if it was dysfunctioning.
A sweet laughed reverberated again, making the glow of the chandelier died and glow again. A teal green silhouette of a woman in black hair was seen on the pillars like a passing shadow and her laughed reverberated again for the third time.
Her voice was loud and clear, gentle and soft but it was actually full of killing intent as she spoke.

8 79The Ingress Estate
Jonathon Eucole. Soldier. Scholar. Now an Initiate, the dedication without dedication, he finds himself both prisoner and master of an arcane edifice, the Ingress Estate, which can neither be escaped, nor controlled; only diverted, maintained, and pacified. This is a gothic fantasy story, set in a world in which gods and the afterlife are not only real and known, but were both established in living memory of some of the inhabitants after millennia of arcane warfare with the being who constructed the mundane reality the humans occupy. But this isn't the story of those who colonized the afterlife at the cost of their own humanity, but a somewhat more ordinary man, in somewhat extraordinary circumstances. This is also a LitRPG-lite, which means there's a system of sorts, fragments of which can be observed through Jonathon's eyes. Don't expect level-up screens, or statistics, or indeed numbers much at all, beyond those the inhabitants of the world itself apply to understanding their own reality. It pretty much doesn't matter to the story, I mention it so those who don't want to read LitRPG at all can successfully avoid it here. I don't have any particular plan here, just some ideas inherent in the genre. This is a character concept I toyed with some years ago; an old man, bright of mind but weighed down into apathy, both by his past and his responsibilities for a terrible estate that cannot be left without stewardship. Don't expect any kind of overarching plot or story, because that's really not what this is about. Also don't expect much dialogue. Or character development. Or much of anything, really, because I've planned nothing in the way of an actual book, here. Other relevant information, if you've read this far for some reason: The MC isn't super-powerful to begin with, and probably never will be. He's a veteran with some useful skills, and the insight on how to use them, so can deal with the world's ordinary threats reasonably well, but not too much beyond that. --- Currently on hiatus, as currently the story has a rather poor ratio of effort-to-personal-payoff. I may return to this once I have a clear idea of how to get the stories where I want them. I've started a more standard LitRPG using the same system. But if you like intelligence characters who cleverly min-max their classes, it probably isn't the story for you; it's the story of a rather ordinary guy who winds up in a very similar universe.

8 86Cardinal of Sin
They say sin comes at a horrible price. Or...perhaps I'm misremembering the saying. Regardless, I'm usually inclined to agree with the aforementioned statement. When one is held hostage by their own carnal instincts; never being able to fully control their primitive impulses...Well, let's just say, it would destroy a lesser man. That, I know. I died because of my lack of self-control, after all. I must admit, though. I didn't expect to change this belief of mine after meeting my end, but here I am. Breathing. In a world I don't belong; a world of magic. Here I am, whisked into another reality with the power to sin. To conquer.
