Chapter 48 : The Demon Mermaid; The Serpent Of The Sea Part

A sweet laughter that came from the mermaid echoed throughout the vast ocean beneath the stary night sky, Chen Yi and Luo Xiao cursed under their breath and tightly gripped the hilt of their sword.

A swarm of enormous ghastly fishes surrounded the black and purple ship with their teal eyes glowing and their large mouth that was big enough to swallow a whole human with countless sharp fangs drooling at the sight of the people above the ship.

Shan Ling glanced at her whip that was covered in her spiritual qi and anxiously glanced at the other,

Chen Yi clicked her tongue in annoyance and stared back at her,

Shan Ling pouted.

Chen Yi frowned and her face soured.

Shan Ling was astonished and later on, her fingers fidgeted while looking at Chen Yi.

Chen Yi who was seriously listening at her with an expressionless face suddenly snapped, her face turning white to red in madness.

Chen Yi paused at looked at her with a disbelief and frustration in her face. She then took a few steps forward the edge of the ship and raised her both hands and widened her slender and pinkish palm.

A yellow spiritual qi burst out of her opened palms and spread around the whole ship, waving and dancing like a calm wave of the sea. Chen Yi slowly clenched her palms and closed it, making the smooth yellow spiritual qi that was dancing and swayng around the ship stiffened and shaped into a big round sturdy barrier that covered the ship whole, radiating a summer yellow light that blinded the demon fishes that were swimming nearer the ship.

Chen Yi faced the people behind and spoke in a serene way,

Liu Xiao and the other went silent, she's basically saying that tonight, we might die by the fish, by the water or by the demon mermaid, escaping the sea domain and staying safe is the first priority than killing the strongest demon cult leader, the former guardian of the sea.

Before they could think of anything, the yellow sturdy barrier shook loudly and a faint sound of scratche was head from below. Liu Xiao peeked his head at the edge of the ship and saw the enormous demon fishes, some were bumping on the barrier and trying to force themselves to enter, some were chomping down the sturdy barrier with their large mouth and sharp countless fangs and some were floating in the back, waiting for the opportunity to bare their fangs.

Their teal glowing eyes were glowing even more then turning dim for a moment when they came in contact on the sturdy barrier and receive a bit damage. Liu Xiao unsheated his sword and was about to throw a few spiritual waves when Bai Lan shouted from behind.

Liu Xiao remembered that his spiritual core is still in the verge of healing in he shouldn't use her spiritual qi recklessly because it may damage the half core inside him and make his situation worsen. Liu Xiao laughed at himself. My soul is basically half right now, Fuck.

Once a human gained a spiritual core in their body, their soul would fuse to the core and turn into one inside them. But only few people in this world had the chance to earn a spiritual core and not majority can have them. It was a golden chance that you would never regret having, an uncomparable gift.

Chen Yi who was looking at them the whole time from the front, her face turned sour and bitter at the same time from the intimate atmosphere behind when the four of them were risking their life to escape the demon mermaid's sea domain and kill the demon fishes from below.

As soon as the sturdy barrier strengthened even more by putting more spiritual qi, the demon fishes who were trying to destroy the barrier by bumping and chomping was knocked back, the other disperesed into ashes and the other was sliced into pieces.

The clear water of the vast ocean that was slightly receiving the ray of moonlight was painted red by the blood that was coming frrom the sliced demon fishes. The other demon fishes, allured by the stench of blood, swan swiftly on the sliced kin and pounded on them, eating their own kin's flesh and chewing on their skin.

Bai Lan murmured while loking at the demon fish with a frown and his lips pursed tightly.

The demon fishes must be very starving to the point of eating their own kin as soon as they died. After the dead demon fishes were all only pile of fish bones, the demon fishes went back to the ship, the corner of their unsightly mouth was dripping with blood and their white sharp fangs earlier turned blood red, growling at the people above the ship while drooling.

Bai Lan slowly raised his sword, his index finger and middle finger from the other hand were stroking the length of the blade, silver spiritual qi flowing in his fingertips and radiating a grayish glow, hugging the blade of his sword and infusing on it's metal.

His other hand gently swayed the sword, a silver shadow of a blade was following his motion in a smooth and graeful way. Bai Lan swung his blade in a vertical motion many times leaving a floating vertical silver lines in mid air. Bai Lan then gripped the hilt of his sword tightly to pour in more strength and made a forceful one swing of his blade in a horizontal way, pushing the floating vertical silver lines down the drooling demon fishes like a countless incoming silver arrows.

the silver vertical lines pierced through the flesh of the countless demon fishes, blood immediately rushed out of their body. The other demon fishes didn't know whether to run away from the arrows or eat their own dead kin. But in the end, because of their endless starveness for flesh, they all swarmed to the dead demon fishes, chewing their flesh and swallowing them whole.

Chen Yi who was still raising her opened palm in the air and continuing to strengthen the barrier turned anxious.

The ship immediately sailed forward while the yellow sturdy barrier still remained and clinging on it whole. The alluring song of the demon mermaid resonated in the quiet vast ocean again, beautiful and soothing to the ears. But the four knew it was just an enchantment and paid no attention and just focused on the demon fishes that were chasing them and swimming in the water in a fast and flexible way.

Shan Ling was shaping her spirtual qi into a blue small needles and shooting them to the swimming demon fishes from below, Bai Lan were drawing vertical lines in the air and pushing them down with a swing of his sword, Chen Yi was still spreading her palm open to maintain the barrier and Lan Yang was standing still and watching the demon fishes because he doesn't specialize in long range attacks.

Liu Xiao was staring at them in awe while they proficiently kill the swarming demon fishes from below. He doesn't really need to help them because they are strong themselves. With Chen Yi's gudance and support, they will likely succeed to escape the demon mermaid's domain.

Shan Ling, Bai Lan and Lan Yang's face paled and immediately raised their hand to help Chen Yi to strengthen the barrier, their own spiritual energies combined to Chen Yi's barrier and the yellow barrier hand mixed with silver, blue and green color, looking beautiful like an exquisite rainbow pearl from afar.

The giant tentacle slipped past the barrier and slammed on the ocean, a large force of wind pushed them back far away, there they saw a giant ocean blue octopus, tentacles wriggling and eyes glaring at the small ship from afar.

Chen Yi's eyes widened.
