Amunet could feel every fiber in her body tingling. Her heart pounded furiously in her chest and her breathing was harsh and heavy. Sweat slipped down the side of her head and trailed along the curve of her spine. Amunet tried to steady herself as her pace slowed to a walk. She looked behind her and felt the air catch her throat.

She'd really done it.

She left.

It was like a weight lifted from Amunet's chest. Memories of her conversation with Ebonee flashed through her mind and moments with Teremun drifted around in her head, but Amunet didn't feel broken. She'd thought leaving Teremun would destroy her. After all, he'd given her everything. Amunet loved him. Right?

Amunet placed a hand over her heart and felt the steading of the rhythm while a cool breeze blew over her face. Amunet knew she'd be eternally grateful to Teremun for sparring her. For giving her a chance to be something more. He'd given her so much. But he never thought of giving her the one thing she so desperately wanted.

Freedom.

True freedom. Freedom where her choices would be hers alone.

Amunet felt her face split into a smile and excitement began flooding her system. Amunet turned and with her hair billowing around her started running again.
