The world was revolving. Everything was spinning, and Jevil was fighting harder than he ever had, not holding back. This was the first time in who knows how long he's had visitors, and he wanted to spend every minute enjoying himself. He couldn't let this game end, because then they would leave and he'd be alone again.
It's been so long. Jevil didn't have anything with him in that room besides his Devilsknife. Back when Dimentio would visit he would bring things to play with, but it's been a long time since Dimentio came. Jevil didn't even know what he himself looked like anymore, since it's been years since he's seen a mirror.
And this music. Jevil liked it. He'd never heard it before. Now THIS theme, was awesome. He liked the other one, but this one. He felt like it really was HIS own theme. Jevil liked it way more than the other one. He felt that this one represented him way more. And look, now he had two themes. Oh, how wonderful.
....
Ralsei cast Pacify.
Jevil stopped. The room fell silent.
Oh, how unfortunate. The game was already over.
"WHAT FUN!!! I'M EXHAUSTED!!! YOU KIDS TIRED ME UP!!! NOW I WILL SLEEP FOR THE OTHER 100 YEARS."
100 years. Long time. Should be long enough. By then everything should be over. Everything should be fine by then.
"UNFORTUNATELY, YOU KIDS CANNOT HAVE SUCH A PLEASANT DREAM. FROM NOW, A NIGHTMARE WILL AWAKEN IN YOUR HEARTS. IN THE SHADOW OF THE KNIGHT'S HAND...LIGHTNERS, CAN YOU STOP IT?"
Of course not. No one could stop it. But if they could best him....maybe there was hope. Not much hope, since many would be stronger than him, but still hope.
"UEE HEE HEE! EITHER WAY, A MISCHIEF-MISCHIEF, A CHAOS-CHAOS...! LIGHTNERS! FROM INSIDE YOUR LITTLE CELL!! TAKE THIS AND DO YOUR STRONGEST---!"
Jevil transported himself into his Devilsknife and flew away, handing over JEVILSTAIL to the Lightners. It would serve as a form of armor for them, giving them his energy, if they were to face what was coming.
Once they left, he prepared to rest. He transported himself out of the Devilsknife and looked at the door.
It was open. He couldn't hide here anymore. Now everyone else was free.
"HMMM, MAYBE THERE IS ANOTHER PLACE TO HIDE."
Jevil yawned. Sleep. He needed sleep first. But maybe he wouldn't need 100 years. Maybe he could go someplace else safe.
After all,
Dimentio did say he would be making a perfect world.
Maybe he was waiting for Jevil to join him.
Luigi and Dimentio made their way to the Dimensional door. Their ticket back to Flipside. About every two minutes Dimentio would ask for his Magic back.
"Come on. Just let me float at least!"
"Nope. Come on. Walking is good for you!"
"Well, can you carry me?"
"No, I'm not going to carry you. Quit complaining."
"Ughh"
They arrived at the door. Luigi turned around and faced Dimentio. "Okay, so how do we beat him?" Dimentio shook his head. "I already told you, we probably can't. I couldn't beat him." Luigi tapped his finger to his forehead. "Hmm.... well he's alone. With the two of us we must surely be able to best him!" Dimentio laughed. "I don't think you understand who this is. I barely understand. I mean, I wanted to make him slip, but I didn't mean for him to absolutely lose it."
"Wait, YOU made him this way??" Luigi asked. Dimentio smiled. "Essentially. I mean, helped start it, but then I left him alone for a while. When I came back he was way worse. I don't know if it was because of me or if it was something else. He did keep mentioning how he was hiding from something."

Luigi nodded. "Okay....well, he's just one person. I've seen Mario defeat powerful enemies on his own, so I'm sure the two of us together can take him!"
Dimentio looked around. "Maybe...." The two exchanged glances before proceeding through the Dimensional door. They arrived back in flipside.
Dimentio looked around and took a deep breath. He was finally out of the Underwhere! It was so bright out here! So bright and beautiful! He didn't think he'd ever see sunlight again.
"Ah ha ha~! Smells like Chaos!"
Mario burst through the door to his house, finally finished with his adventure. "Luigi?? Luigi, I'm home! What was that call about??" He looked around. The house was silent. "Luigi?"
Mario had just gotten home from his adventure. He was a little exhausted, but he had to know what that phone call was about. Luigi almost never called unless it was an emergency, since he didn't like interrupting Mario's adventures.
He searched the house. Nothing. No one was home. "Oh, Luigi, where are you??" Mario muttered. He ran outside to see if anyone knew where he went. Most people he asked said they haven't seen him. All except one toad.
"Have you seen my brother??" Mario frantically asked. The toad turned to face him and smiled. "Oh, Mario! Thank heavens you're back!" Mario smiled a little. "Yeah. I'm back. Have you seen Luigi??" The toad nodded. "Yes. When I heard about the trouble in Flipside I went looking for you. But when you weren't home he heroically agreed to go solve the problem!"
"Problem?? What problem?" The toad's face paled. "You haven't heard? Dimentio is back."
Mario's eyes went wide. "WHAT??"
Mario grabbed the toad and shook his shoulders. "YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THAT DIMENTIO IS BACK, AND YOU SENT MY BROTHER, LUIGI, THE ONE HE SPROUTED AND USED TO DO HIS EVIL BIDDING, IN AFTER HIM???" The toad began to nervously sweat. "w-well he said he'd be fine. And you were gone. Those people needed help! Toadsworth told me to get help. I'm just the messenger toad!" Mario let go of the toad and pressed his fingers to the bridge of his nose. "okay. Okay! This is fine. I just have to go in after him and hope I'm not to late!" Mario ran back to his house and searched his important things.
"Aaaaaand, he took the return pipe with him. Great. Looks like I'm walking." Mario turned around and started running.
"Hang in there Luigi. I'm a-coming."
Jevil stepped outside his little freedom. He took a deep breath. There was so much room. If he wanted, he could run the streets and play with everyone.
But no. He had to remember that he was trapped out here, and he needed to be free.
Jevil teleported himself away into the files.
"WHAT WAS DIMMY'S GAME CALLED?" He asked himself. "SUPER, SUPER, SUPER PAPER MARIO?" Jevil looked around. Deltarune was where he was from. Right next to it was Undertale, ugh, so many games.
Doki Doki Literature Club? What a cute looking game, but not the one he needed. Five Nights at Freddy's...that looked fun! But nope. Kirby Super Star....wait, that name sounded familiar. "KIRBY SUPER STAR....I'LL COME BACK TO THAT." Jevil continued searching around.
Super Smash Bros Brawl, Super Paper Mario, Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask....wait.
"SUPER PAPER MARIO! I FOUND IT!" Jevil looked into the file. "OH, GOODY GOODY. PERFECT WORLD, HERE I COME, COME! NOW I'LL HAVE ALL THE FUN!"

Seam waited, when the three heroes returned. They asked more about Jevil.
Why were these people so curious about him? Most didn't even know he existed.
"He... was a funny little man. Once, the court jester. I, the court magician. A friend..? Could I consider him a friend? Perhaps, perhaps not."
Seam thought about it. Of course he was a friend, he was his everything. But that was the old Jevil. This Jevil....wasn't his Jevil. Seam looked back at the memories. He never liked looking back at the good things, because it hurt knowing they were gone.
Why were these heroes forcing him to remember? It hurt.
Seam chuckled.
"But he was the only one who matched me in the games we use to play."
His expression turned darker. "But one day, he met a strange someone... and since then, he began to change. He started saying bizarre things that didn't completely make sense.....but didn't completely not make sense either."
Seam let out a sigh. "Soon, he began to see the world as a game, and everyone as it's participants.....As the court mage, and his only companion, I was forced to lock him away."
Seam looked down and chuckled.
"Or, rather, lock US all away, in his own words."
He stopped chuckling and looked back up again. "Since that time, the strange words he's said have stuck inside my cotton....and my view of this world has become darker, yet darker."
Seam's eyes softened as he looked around the room, then down at his hands.
"....reflecting on these old memories, I think perhaps - I miss playing games with him..."
Seam took a breath. He was old and worn out now. Who knows how long it had been since he was young. Back when he was friends with Jevil.
"And I wonder, if I hadn't been asked to lock him up.... would I have found a little more purpose in my life?"
Kris, the Lightner, told Seam that they had beat Jevil. Seam's eyes went wide.
"You defeated him!? You REALLY defeated him!?" The heroes nodded.
They didn't hurt him...did they? They didn't...kill him, did they? If they could defeat him, then they must really be strong.
"I see.... perhaps you three may really be 'Heroes' after all..."
Seam remembered Jevil's words. How terrified he was of what was coming.
"But JEVIL was just a taste of what you'll face from now on. One day soon.... you too, will begin to realize the futility of your actions. Ha ha ha... at that time, feel free to come back here. I'll make you tea....and we can toast. To the end of the world!"
The heroes nodded and left. Once they were gone Seam chuckled to himself.
"....Perhaps, I really do miss playing games with him." He looked around his small shop. Years wasted, doing nothing. Alone.
He got up. Where he was going, he had no idea. He almost never left the shop.
He made his way to Card Castle. He looked at his old room. The room he use to share with Jevil.
....it was completely empty now. Nothing was there. Someone just walking around would never know that Jevil use to reside in here.
Seam turned around, and made his way down to where he locked Jevil up. He walked inside. He knew what he was doing now. The door was open.
".....Jevil, I've come to join you in freedom."

There was no response. "Jevil?"
Oh no, had those kids actually killed him?? If he was loose, he would make it obvious. He had to be dead. Otherwise he would be here, or spreading the chaos.
Seam looked around before slowly sitting down on the ground.
Yeah, this was pretty much what he was expecting. Still, it was hard not to be disappointed.
"I'm sorry, buddy," he said. "Sorry I didn't come and join you sooner."
Seam sat and waited in the open cell. In Jevil's little freedom. He quietly started humming to himself.
When Jevil was younger, he would sometimes sing in his sleep. This was before Jevil lost it. Before he began to change. Seam never really thought about the words Jevil would mutter while sleeping, but maybe if he had, would he have been able to predict what would happen and stop it? It didn't matter. Seam smiled at the memories, before slowly singing along.
"When...the...light is running low....and the shadows start to grow....and the places that you know....cut away the afterglow. There's a light inside your soul....slowly shrinking in the cold....from the truth deep down you know....and yet darker we will go...."
Was Jevil perhaps always destined to have this fate? Even without this "special someone," He was always a little off, craving more out of life, always asking questions.
Seam laughed to himself. He spend so long waiting for nothing, and now he's truly lost the one thing that mattered. How incredibly empty his life was. No purpose. No meaning. Just, nothing.
Jevil teleported himself inside the new game on top of Flipside Tower. his was his first time in a game other than his own. How exciting! A crowd gathered at the base of the tower, looking up. "What's going on? What is that?" A Flipside resident asked. Jevil laughed. "UEE HEE HEE...."
He transported himself inside his Devilsknife and went rushing down towards the crowd of people, swiftly cutting through the air. He landed a mere two feet in front of the crowd, leaving a large crack in the ground. Everyone jumped back. He then appeared. He grabbed ahold of the Devilsknife sticking out of the ground and stepped forward, a large smile on his face.
"LOOK AT ALL THESE SMILING FACES! EVEN DEVILSKNIFE IS SMILING!" Jevil looked down at his Devilsknife. He swung it around, before it disappeared in thin air. The crowd of people stood there, frozen in fear.
"Is this the psychotic clown who almost ended all worlds not long ago?" A woman asked. Another resident shook their head. "It can't be. I thought that guy was sent to the Underwhere to be locked away for all eternity in the river of Twygz." Another resident chimed in, "But, this has to be him! Who else looks like that?" The crowd began all talking over each other. Jevil stared at them all, smiling in delight. Were they talking about Dimentio? How nice it was that his good friend was able to make a name for himself here, despite not getting assigned an important role! He looked around. He was pretty sure this was the town known as Flipside. Dimentio mentioned it in one of their many many talks.
He cleared his throat. "THIS IS THE INTERDIMENSIONAL TOWN OF FLIPSIDE, CORRECT?" The residents all fell silent upon hearing his voice again. One child nodded. "Yeah, you're in Flipside....what do you want."
Jevil's smile grew even bigger. "AH, A BEAUTY IS JOYING IN MY HEART! IT'S SO EXCITING...I CAN'T TAKE IT!" An old man stepped forward. "Uhh, why do you speak like that? Your voice...it's an actual voice. It's not text." Jevil flipped around to face the man. What a funny question. It happened so often, that he barely noticed it anymore. He wondered why no one else could speak like this in these games. "THE REAL QUESTION IS, WHY DON'T YOU SPEAK LIKE THIS?" Everyone seemed slightly confused.
"I HAVE TRAVELED FAR, SEARCHING FOR THIS PLACE! IT'S SO BRIGHT HERE! NO NEED TO HIDE FROM THE DARKNESS IN THIS PLACE! UEE HEE HEE!" The crowd of people stepped back.
"Who are you, and what are you going to do?" A small girl asked. Jevil turned to her and smiled a big, somewhat creepy smile. He summoned his devilsknife, swinging his arm and making it appear in his hand. "OH, DEAR CHILD. I CAN DO ANYTHING."
