《Mermaid Origins》Brandon In The Barrel?

I groan in pain as I wake up. I opened my eyes to find that, I was in a dark small space that was fill with water. I move slightly to get in a better position and found that I could barely fit wherever I was. I bite my lip as I hit my wound on the side of the container. Looking down to my tail, I found the wound was covered in white cloth. I realized that the humans must have put me here and gave me this.
I sighed in frustration as I tried to touch the fabric only to feel pain run up my tail. Relaxing my body, I listened to see if I could hear anything to tell where I was. I heard footsteps and talking but they weren't close enough to tell what they were saying. Wanting to get out of this tiny space, I begin to feel around the walls. I pressed above me and felt something move. I push harder, feeling it coming lose, but it wouldn't open.
I grunted as I push on the bottom of the container with my tail and the top with my hands. Pain filled my body but I really wanted to get out of this small space. Realizing that this wasn't working, I coiled myself to the bottom of the container, then changed at the top. It moved some but still didn't open. I growled and did it again a few more times.
My shoulder was bruised from hitting the top so many times. Pain had flared up from the side of my tail, where the wound was. I looked down to find that the white cloth had turned red. I reopened the wound, I thought as I looked at it. One more time, I think to myself as I get into position. I looked at the top of whatever this thing was with determination.

I hit the top with all my might, making it pop. The container's top, which I found out was a barrel, popped off like a cork. A huge crash was heard as I peeked over the side of the barrel. The human with only boxers on, was on the ground groaning and the top of the barrel was flung into the wall when I popped it off. Oh, I thought, he must have been on top of the barrel. I couldn't help but to chuckle at the scene before me.
Footsteps were heard running towards the room that we are in. The guy that was on the floor got up slowly, looking around confused, trying to figure out what just happened. The door to the room flung open, making a huge bang. I ducked a little back in the the barrel as three people enter the room.
The looked at me to the guy on the floor, then back at me. The one with ocean blue eyes, Lucas if I remember, started laughing hysterically. The short one, who Lucas called Cap also chuckle. The brown eyed boy, Bryan, giggled into his hand, while the purple haired dude gave a small smile.
The male on the ground groaned, before looking up at them, glaring. "I warned you, David. I told you not to nap on the barrel." Cap said. David got up while saying, "You didn't tell me that they were so strong! How was I supposed to know that he could just throw me to the ground!" I peeked out more as I watched them. It was quite funny to me.
While I was distracted, I didn't notice Lucas walk over to me. I was still watching them, when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I tensed up, looking at who ever touched me. I relaxed a little when I realized I was Lucas. He seemed to understand that I didn't want to be touched so he took his hand away. A part of me wanted his hand back, but I ignored that part, for now.

Lucas faked cough to get everyone's attention. They all looked at him then at me. I wanted to hide in the barrel but the water had turned reddish due to the blood from my wound. Pain was along my side as I tried to cover it up with a blank face. Everyone came over to the barrel.
"How are you doing?" Lucas asked. I looked at him, saying nothing. Lucas tilted his head sideways. "Can you even talk?" The purple haired guy asked. I nodded.
"Then why aren't you?" David exclaimed. I whimper at his loud voice making my ears hurt. The purple haired guy whacked him in the back of the head. Bryan spoke up, "Maybe he's scared?"
The others looked at him then at me. I slightly nodded. The short one, the captain, walked up to me. "You have nothing to be afraid of. Your safe with us. My name's Michael," He points to Lucas, the purple hair, Bryan, and David as he introduces them. "This is Lucas, Pat, Bryan, and the stripper is David." He tells me. "Now what's your name?" He asks kindly.
"Brandon..." I say quietly. I wince in pain as my wound flares, making me whimper. Lucas looks at me concerned before he looks in the barrel, making him gasp. "What is it, Lucas?" Michael asks.
"His wound has opened up again. We need to wrap it again." Michael nods, before he turns to me. "We need to take you out of the barrel in order to help. Are you ok with that?" Michael asks. I nod. "Ok then. David. Pat. Help Lucas get Brandon out of the barrel and on to the floor. Bryan go get the medical supplies."
They all nod. Bryan runs out the door while Pat and David help Lucas take me out of the barrel. I grit my teeth as I'm placed on the floor of the ship. The wound wasn't bleeding as bad as when I first got it, but it was still bleeding. Lucas and Michael looked worried, while David looked concerned. Pat had a blank face as he stared at the wound. I hope Bryan hurries, I think, feeling my wound hurting.

Blood Demon's Retirement
Civil War had raged on the Al-Shan Archipelago for the past four decades, only recently coming to an end with the enthronement of the new Emperor. This is not his story. The Blood Demon, renowned general of said civil war, was tired of all the fighting and politicking that had described the last four decades of her existence. All she really wanted to do now is to go out into the world and see the many lands from her father's stories. Thus she retired, and went and did exactly what she wanted. This is the story of what happens when you toss a (retired) war machine with somewhat lacking common sense into an unsuspecting world at peace. Chapters will range from 1-2.5k words, scheduled for release every day from Monday to Friday. First time posting a story on Royal Road here, hoping you folks will enjoy. Expect: -slow going slice of life with occassional faster paced action -world building -detailed anecdotes on the world, its races, the magic system, and whatnot every now and then Do not expect: -romance, other than maybe some passing mentions -politics, again, barring passing mentions Any comments, reviews, and criticism will be much appreciated. And thank you for reading. ---------------------------- Disclaimer: This story is my original work and only posted on the Royal Road and Scribblehub websites. Also please don't be too hard on me when I make occasional grammatical mistakes, English is my third language after all. XD Edit suggestions are very welcome though. Discord

Sustaining the King's Life
On a secluded mountain situated upon a kingdom known as Feuersturm, resides a seemingly trifling cabin with an unlikely duo as its inhabitant—a witch, and her apprentice who presumably comes from a clan sought after by slave traders. Faustina is a sixteen-year-old girl who fled the slave market with the help of a sickly witch named Eula, who later on trained her as an apprentice for the span of seven years. Plagued with a mysterious disease for several years, Eula died despite the efforts Faustina had exerted to cure her; in her last breath, she left an odd request behind. "Sustain the king's life. This is your duty. Do not adhere to the prophecy." To which the odd plea shadowed a bizarre series of events, a consequential sentence, similar to that of a premonition. The same night the phrase was muttered, the chain of events followed: A warlock's intrusion to their home, with a peculiar yearning to resurrect Eula from the dead... and the king himself, asking for Faustina’s aid. ** 1-2 chapters a day (GMT+8) ** (The artwork belongs to me.
