《L'ANGE DÉCHU- MANXBOY》CHAPTER TWELVE PART TWO- ESCAPE

‼️

From the time we first got here up to now, we have done absolutely nothing. For the past four hours I sat awkwardly in Zhayne's office watching him do work. People occasionally came in and out to talk to him for a little while but other than that, our time was spent in complete silence.

I won't say I'm mad at that, though. It's not like I want to talk to him. I just wish I had something to do other than stare at a wall. I'd been counting the framed photos of what looked to be of him and his family since our arrival.

Well, I did check my cellphone a few times. Just to see if Nas had texted me or not. But I had to be discreet about it because I don't know how Zhayne will react. He hadn't necessarily told me I couldn't have it but he might if he sees me with it so I won't take any chances.

It took a while but Nas eventually did text me and told me that he would be here in about 2 hours. That was 30 minutes ago so he should arrive soon, I hope.

I can't help but wonder what how he planned on getting me out of here. I'm worried because things might not turn out the way I would hope for but the only thing I can do right now is pray things go well.

"Don't you have something you could be doing?" Zhayne asked me, sounding surprisingly calm as he broke the silence. I took my focus off the wall and shifted my eyes to him. He was currently flipping through some papers with a focused look on his face. My lips set into a straight line at his stupid question. But I knew it was best for me to hide my annoyance.

"Um...no. But uh- can I?-"

He cut me off, not looking up from the papers in front of him. "If you're about to ask me if you can you leave, shut up. You will stay your ass in here until I'm finished." My shoulders slumped at his response. He didn't even let me finish.

"But-but I was going to ask t-to leave under your supervision!" Zhayne looked up at me for the first time in literally hours. And the look he gave me was not what I was expecting. His facial expression basically screamed; 'What did I say?'

I expected him to say yes because he would be watching me but that didn't make him change his mind. I whined and slumped on the couch. Man, if I had the balls to walk out of here like I owned the place then I would. To be honest regardless if I do or not, I know that won't end the way I'd want it to so it was really pointless.

So I ended up sitting another half hour with absolutely nothing to do but stare at the wall and ceiling. I eventually got bored to the point where I began counting how many objects were in the room all together. I won't lie, though I was bored out of my mind, that was kind of fun.

"Come here." I suddenly heard Zhayne say after ages of silence. There was absolutely no sense in trying to do otherwise, so I obeyed. Reluctantly of course. I got up from my spot and stalked over to Zhayne, making sure I took my time. When I got to his side, he dropped his pen and turned around to face me. When he slightly parted his legs I knew what to do. I got in between them and stood still with my eyes planted on his chest.

"Angel." He warned.

I winced a little, dreading the inevitable. I craned my neck upward and forced myself to look into his evil, lifeless eyes like he expected of me...I don't think I will never fully comprehend how he's able to stare at me so intensely without looking away.

"I have an important meeting to attend." He started off, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me closer to him. "If I could trust you while I'm away I would have allowed you to do whatever you'd like, as long as you are in this building and I am aware of where you are." Zhayne sighed.

"But I don't. And I never will trust you. Therefore, you will be present at this meeting with me." He paused for a minute, watching me closely still. I thought he was done but he said something else that made me feel on edge. "I feel like it's only fair for me to warn you, since this probably isn't something you see often..."

He narrowed his eyes at me and swiped his tongue over his bottom lip. I can tell he's reading me thoroughly with each word he speaks. Like he's waiting for a different reaction. But I kept myself composed.

"Things will get messy. But your job—" he moves one arm from around my waist and uses it to poke at my chest lightly. "Is to stay put unless I command you to do otherwise." Zhayne told me firmly. There was not a trace of any joking in his tone.

"Listen to me carefully, okay?" He asked now holding my face between both of his large, cold hands. My heartbeat sped up and I nodded my head. Zhayne was not pleased with that. "Words."

"Y-yes."

He continued. "If you try to leave...I swear to god if you even fucking attempt, I promise I will make you regret it and I will fuck you up beyond repair. Do you understand me? I am not fucking playing around and I expect you to do the same."

The last little bit of hope I had in me officially shattered at his words. There is absolutely no way I could escape him now...But what about Nas?

"Angel you are taking too fucking long to speak."

"I-I'm sorry. Y-yes, Zhayne. I understand." I replied, utterly defeated.

"Good. You don't have a choice but to. Now let's go. I don't have time to waste." Zhayne stood to his full height and grabbed my hand, dragging me out of the room.

When we left his office he locked the door and led me down the corridor. We only walked for a little bit before we stopped in front of the familiar room which was VIP only, I believe. The room where this all started. The guard standing in front of the steel door quickly stepped to the side as he saw Zhayne and I approach.

Zhayne opened the door for us to go in. Since I felt bad that he completely ignored the poor man's presence I offered him a small smile. I made sure Zhayne wasn't looking though, there was no telling how he'd react to me simply smiling at another man.

I kept my eyes straight ahead as we walked in, not wanting to make eye contact with anyone here. Upon our entrance I heard Zhayne being greeted by countless people already. They stood up from their spots with quickness just to say hi to him. It's crazy to me. It was like they were awaiting his arrival or something. Was he that important?

The evil man wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me closer to him as we made our way past the crowd of people who made themselves comfortable on his furniture and at his bar. He barely payed any attention to them, though. In fact he'd ignored every person that has spoken respectfully to him. Even though I wasn't looking at him, I knew he was only focusing on me. I could feel his intense stare as he gazed down at me. It was hard to miss, since he did not care to be discreet about it.

Zhayne led me somewhere past the bar area and we walked until we reached another door with yet another guard standing in front of it. But this was different. This time, the guard took a set of keys from his pocket himself and unlocked it for us, murmuring a small 'boss' while moving aside. I furrowed my brows. Why did he have to unlock it? I looked up at Zhayne in confusion. Not only was that odd, but also, what was up with all these guards and everyone nodding to him in respect? I get it that he owns the club but I think that's just a little weird. It's like they're obligated to do so.

I shook the thought off and let Zhayne maneuver me inside the nearly dark room. Immediately, I was greeted with a thick cloud of smoke and the strong smell of cigars mixed with weed. The scent was similar to what I smelled back when Nas took me to that party but this was much, much stronger. I coughed a little and waved my hand in front of my face to try and get rid of some of the smoke.

It didn't do much to help, though. It must have been multiple people in here smoking because it just kept on getting stronger and stronger it seems. I don't know how Zhayne isn't even bothered by this, I can barely breathe in this toxic air.

Due to my vision being limited I hardly could make out Zhayne striding toward a seat that was placed at the end of a very long table. He let go of my hand and made himself comfortable in the chair. Not knowing what to do I stood still awkwardly. When Zhayne started staring at me a little too long, I began wiping my watering eyes, which actually helped improve my sight a lot more than I thought it would. I thought for some reason that would make him look away but it didn't. His gaze never faltered.

Zhayne snatched me by my waist and leaned over to murmur in my ear. "Don't act brand new. You know where to sit. Things won't change because we're around other people."

I had almost forgotten that there were other people here. The only thing that gave away their presence was the unhealthy amount of smoke circulating around. That obviously couldn't have come from nothing. But the room was eerily and abnormally silent, the others giving nothing away. I didn't even hear anyone inhale nor exhale the smoke.

I swallowed thickly, my eyes meeting Zhayne's expecting stare. He removed his large hand from around me as he saw me move from the side of his chair to reluctantly place myself in his lap. The intimidating giant pulled me to him yet again, so close that his thick lips rested just above my temple. I stiffened.

While one hand was pressed on my stomach, he raised the other to motion for someone to come here. Since my vision had cleared and I can see a lot better, I could easily make out a man approach us with a golden tray in his hand.

He looked to be around his mid forties. The man had his hair gelled back into a neat quiff. It was blacker than the night sky, with strands of grey here and there. He had few wrinkles on his face that looked like they would double if he were to smile or even talk. And he was also dressed in very formal attire. He wore a plain black and white suit, accompanied with a fun looking red tie to top it off.

The middle aged man stood to our right and placed his hand onto the tray. He grabbed something off of it with his gloved hand and held the tip of the object up to Zhayne's lips. My eyes widened in realization as I recognized what it was.

Weed.

He grabbed something else off of the tray, and before I missed it I quickly caught sight of what it was. It was a lighter, which confirmed my suspicion. He started it up, the sound of the flame emitting from it was the only thing that could be heard. The stranger held it up to Zhayne's blunt and lit it for him. Then without a word being spoken, he put it back on his tray and walked away. Zhayne inhaled it deeply and blew the smoke back out.

"Speak." He suddenly says. And it was like some of the tension had been lifted. I felt like I could breathe a little more, despite the contaminated air.

I heard another sudden click of the lighter. "As a man who appreciates conversation this quiet game you had going on was a little too bland for my taste." A gruff voice called out in the silence. As soon as he opened his mouth to talk I swear it was like the smoke cleared up some more, causing a shift in the atmosphere as everyone sitting at the table appeared before me. I had to keep my composure at the sight alone.

Sitting at the long table were 3, very intimidating men. Like I guessed, they all held cigars in between their fingers and calmly took hits every few seconds. They had pointed looks on their faces as their gazes were trained heavily on the very man I happen to be sitting on. They didn't even bother to pay me any attention, it was like I didn't even exist. Their business was strictly with Zhayne and that was clear.

I also couldn't help but notice how they presented themselves. The men dressed nicely, wearing suits that I could tell were expensive just by looking at them. Then not only did their clothing look top tier, but they also wore jewelry to top it off. I saw diamond watches, diamond rings, gold chains and so much more. I know all of that must have cost a fortune.

And just when I thought it couldn't get any more bizarre, the man sitting at the end of the table opposite of Zhayne and I had gold rings encompassing four fingers on both his hands along with the boat load of jewelry he already had on. He had on more than anyone in here combined. Nothing else about him stood out, that was the only thing I could focus on.

I couldn't stop looking at him. In fact, I'd been staring so hard that he eventually caught on and looked back at me. My heart stopped in my chest and I felt my cheeks heat up in embarrassment. His eyes seemed to sparkle as he shot me a discreet wink and went on about his business.

The unknown man let out a dry chuckle and ran his tongue across his bottom lip as Zhayne didn't reply. He only took another hit of the blunt and seemed to stare blankly at him, already looking pretty much over it. "Forgive me, Donovan. Sometimes I forget you prefer to get straight to business instead of chatting." Zhayne still didn't reply.

Golden rings looked as if he were waiting for some sort of response from him, but when it was made clear that Zhayne wasn't going to say anything he shrugged and reached over the side of his chair to pick something up. He lifted a black bag and stood up, unzipping it. Then he proceeded to turn the duffel bag upside down to spill its contents. When what was inside was revealed my eyes widened in shock.

Hidden in the bag was thousands of dollars in cash. I saw countless stacks of hundred dollar bills. I can't even begin to imagine how much money was laying in front of me right now. I'd never seen so much in one setting. I'd seen money like that in movies but to actually see so much like that in real life was baffling. I could even smell it from here.

What is going on?

The stranger tossed the bag aside when he was finished and stared at Zhayne with an expectant look on his face. "You got my order?" He asked, blowing the smoke out from the side of his mouth.

Zhayne sat back in the chair, making me glance at him momentarily. He had this weird look on his face. He looked nonchalant, but at the same time he had an even darker look in his eyes than usual, and his left one was twitching profusely.

Now alarmed, I looked away. I had to say a quick prayer, hoping that nothing will happen. That was not a good look. I don't know what could have possibly went wrong though. I thought everything was fine.

Zhayne sat still for a little while longer, staring pointedly at the other main man in the room. He inhaled his blunt another time before snapping his fingers.

Nearly 3 seconds later, I spotted the same man with the golden tray make his way out of the corner of the room where he was once hidden. But this time he did not have the tray in his hands. He now held a duffel bag similar to the other man's.

He walked over to the table and stopped in the middle. He unzipped the bag with his gloved hands and proceeded to take everything out of it in a nice, and orderly fashion. He did not dump everything like Golden Rings, he seemed to handle these things with care.

At first, I did not recognize anything being laid out. It all looked so weird to me. I saw multiple white blocks, bags of powdery substances, all kinds of pills, and even mushrooms. It was foreign to me and I had no clue why someone would have these things. But when my eyes happened to land on one thing in particular that was taken out after everything else, which was a large bag of weed. I put two and two together and used my common sense.

This is a drug deal. Right now, I am sitting in the middle of a drug deal.

"I hope for your sake that's the right amount of money, Eliseo." Zhayne told the man now known as Eliseo. I got the sudden feeling that it was going to get bad from here. It was something about Zhayne's tone...

"You know it is, boss." He said, emphasizing 'boss' as he walked over to the side of the table where the drugs were located. I heard Zhayne let out a soft hmm, like he didn't fully believe his statement.

"I don't know if I believe you or trust you any longer. You or your little side men." His statement made the tension in the room somehow get even worse than it was before. I thought that was impossible. The power this man holds is unbelievable. He can make the atmosphere shift just by speaking. I saw Eliseo and his men visibly shrink.

"I hired you because I was convinced you were good for business and I won't lie, you were doing good at first but lately you been falling slack to my expectations...you know how I feel about that." Zhayne inhaled the blunt, then exhaled the smoke again.

"You were so good that I even allowed you a place of authority over some of my workers. I put you in charge of a lot, Eliseo...meaning you have control over monitoring some of my sales." He paused for a brief moment, watching him closely. "But lately, I've noticed that a pretty good amount of my fuckin' money has gone missing." The men that sat on both sides of Eliseo paled at Zhayne's words, pretty much giving themselves and their boss away.

"What's the issue?" Zhayne asked, shaking some of the ashes off of his blunt on an ashtray in front of us. Eliseo placed a new unlit cigar in between his chapped lips and swallowed.

"Nothing at all. I've been making your money like always, Donovan." He responded, not looking at Zhayne as he reopened the duffel bag and places the drugs that he paid for into it.

I felt myself tense up as Zhayne let out a low laugh. I could tell it wasn't a fake, he genuinely seemed amused at Eliseo's response. And that wasn't a good sign. The large man shifted in the seat a little, before bringing one of his hands up to my hair and he began running his fingers through my curly strands slowly...I don't know if he thought that was going to calm me down but it did nothing to help at all.

"Bullshit." Zhayne murmured, catching Eliseo's full attention immediately. I watched as his demeanor changed completely. He went from collected and stone faced, to alert and guarded in less than a second. "I gave you 3 weeks to get the job done just like every other time. Ain't shit changed and my expectations are the same. My money was due 4 days ago and I was nice enough to not send my men after you and have them blow ya fuckin' brains out for being behind. What's the problem? You're fucking up my sales." His words cut through the air like a knife. I could already tell this was going to get worse. Someone in this room is going to get hurt. And I know there is no way for me to get out of this.

Eliseo finished putting everything in the bag and zipped it up, slinging it over his shoulder. Slowly, he craned his neck upward and locked eyes with Zhayne. "I don't get as many customers as I used to.." Zhayne tilted his head. "If you think I'm doing other things with the money y-you're wrong I just-"
