《Mianite: Unitended》Unmarked

"Ok Hope, the long wait is finally over", I took one of the mours and put it in her hand.
The simplest one was the one for speed. Which how I figured out how to put the stones and the sugar together is against me. It was honestly one of those nights when I woke up and had to start writing equations on the floor with a piece of chalk.
Then when I was finally done I would pass out from sleep deprivation and wake up the next morning and walk around the room until I made sense of everything I had written down.
As would any person Hope immediately become excited and inpatient when I told her I could give her super speed. As much as I rather give these to Sonja, because I honestly think she's a lot more agile then Hope, no one else had the power of a strong will.
The mours are powered by adrenaline, which is fear and if there's anybody who can stand infront and laugh (I guess giggle in her world) at fear in the face, it's Hope.
"Woah", she didn't put it on her arm like I thought she would. She just stood there starring at it. The stone was a colorless grey that Tom, Sonja, and Tucker called a smoky quart. I had put a metal chain screwed in with fine prices of silver so Hope could attach the mours on get quiver if needed.
"So", I waited for a over hyper thank you,"What do yea think".
"It's so cool", she said all wispy like.
"You wanna try it", I asked.
She looked back up at me. Her eyes were huge out of excitement and surprise. "Really? I can use them out of emergencies".
Her naiveness made me smile, "Oh cmon you make me sound like a Mianite".

She jumped up and down out of excitement, finally.
"Any suggestions"
She got one of those devious smiles on her face, the ones that make me think she should really be a Dianite. "I heard the Modsteps are back in town".
I think she's a bad influence.
The Ianites were always figured to not have any enemies, which was true. We didn't hate people because they were Dianite or Mianite, we hated them because they were annoying. Like the Modsteps for example
"Where are they", Jordan asked more himself then me.
I shrugged and then peered into one of the old bay windows. I hate that old stupid Victorian house.
The place was beautiful, but the Modsteps never took care of it. They were always to busy plotting and playing poker and betting or rounding up me.
Jordan opened the back door. "If worse comes to worse we can just snoop I guess".
"Maybe they found a new place to stay", I suggested.
"I don't know kid", he sounded unsure,"They seem like people that don't have time to just pack up and leave".
Jordan had a point. As annoying and chaotic as the Modsteps are, they are some of the must stressed and busy people that I have ever met. I guess I didn't help with that. The projects they worked on we're time consuming and sleep depriving, but if they couldn't have taken care of me they shouldn't have taken the priest money and promised to give me a good home.
"The only reason I could see the Modsteps leaving", Jordan continued on, "Is for money or there life".
We walked through the living room to the kitchen. "Well what would spook them so much that they decided to leave?" I asked
"Uhh kid", Jordan gestured for me to pull my head up from staring at the ground.

The kitchen wall was splattered with blood and the wallpaper had the words 'we are the darkness, we are the shadows' scratched in.
"That's not the Modsteps is it"
"I don't think", Jordan said, "I think it's the rat's".
I looked at the ground where there was a dead rat. I looked like it was a animals lunch rather than a scare mechanism.
"Oh", I said.
Jordan looked grossed out beyond believe.
"You ok Jordan", I tugged on his coat sleeve.
"Huh", he shook his head. He still looked really sick. "Yeah, let's just get you out of here".
"I'm fine Jorda-"
He grabbed my arm. "Let's get me out of here".

The Infinite Labyrinth
(Story complete - Book 1 "Shanghaied", 2 "Shortcuts", 3 "Secrets" and 4 "Sanctions") It is the 19th century, and war smoulders between England and France. Any hope for a quick end to Napoleon's rampage across Europe ended when the Great Gates opened in 1800. For a fortunate few, the strange world of the Infinite Labyrinth offers opportunities, strange descriptors popping in their minds, informing them of growth, and status beyond that of a mere mortal. The materials and power crystal they bring back foster a new age, both military and civilian. Aether-powered Skyships prowl the skies, as all the great nations blessed by the Gates try to turn the blessings of the Labyrinth into immediate advantages. But for Jonas, an apprentice leatherworker, his friend Ira, and so many Londoners, the fabled ones that walk the Labyrinth are distant heroes, seen from afar. They fell short when their Potential was measured, and they fill their mundane lives with distant dreams. One man wants to break the stalemate. The Tyrant of the Dominion of France, Napoleon Bonaparte, has a plan. Eighteen years after the world changed, he will force it to change again. And when civilians are caught in the fallout, the unthinkable happens. Six people, unqualified, forbidden to ever enter the Labyrinth, find themselves stranded in a distant zone, forcefully turned into Professionals. They know little of what that means, but they have to figure out the rules that are now their lot, for they have little hope to escape their predicament otherwise. They need to understand what the descriptors in their minds mean, what each of the strange piece of gear waiting in treasure chests behind terrible guardians can bring them. They have to become Professionals on their own and rejoin the Empire. They will figure out their new lives one way or another. But will there be an Empire waiting for them when the Gates re-open? Caught in a clash of empires and high tiers, they will do what little they can. They will step up and do their best. One way or another. The Infinite Labyrinth is a slice-of-life litRPG adventure set in a real historical setting. It's a hard, crunchy litrpg. Expect blue boxes everywhere, and the system itself is very mathy. It started life as a serial. I prepared some proper worldbuilding, with enough details and background for lots of different potential story arcs, but as I wrote, I realized the main story needs to have a definitive end. So, there are four books in total, for a bit under 1500 pages, plus additional side stories, and even maybe a sequel one day. The Gore tag was added as a precaution because there are a few scenes with some light gore.

Force Majeure: A web novel
In the Qursan Empire, the grey walls of the city press down on its subjects. It is a highly divided society which is based on the magical strength of its citizens. While the most powerful are trained as Mages, the majority of citizens use their limited skills with essence to power the city in their assigned jobs. Jano is pretty much the lowest of the low in the Qursan Empire. A Class Ten citizen forced into transitory work after having his power restricted. When he gets the opportunity to change all of that, he takes it with both hands. Please note this is an edited version of my story ‘city of captives’. It follows a similar structure but I’ve ironed out some of the kinks. If you read that version, much of this will be similar though there are some differences. This is a slow burning progression fantasy. Please expect at least two chapters per week. I love writing this story but I do have unfortunate things to deal with like work and life outside of writing. I may be able to write and edit more than that, but it will never be less!
