《The Spark of Balance: The Realm of Mianite (Book 1)》Ch.107 Jordan

Dianite POV-
Fifty villagers turned into crisps later, he still wasn't any closer to containing his anger.
He could still hear her screams and hear the noises of splattered food along the walls of her cell.
He thought time would get her to calm down and come to her senses, but five days later she was still screaming and cursing his name. Even as her throat dried up he could still heard the words so clearly.
Now he just sat in his throne scowling at anyone who passed by and quickly murdered those who stared too long. After a few demonstrations of what his mood was like on that particular day, most servants avoided the main hall.
Good.
The solitude should have been able to help...but it only made him more furious. She had sat on that same throne with him only weeks ago. Jordan had laughed with him and kissed him with such affection that he had been willing to spare a few servants who had done a poor job cleaning that day.
Now the floor was bathed with the blood of those servants who had gotten in his nerves lately. It was bright red, as his anger. A servant had come a few minutes ago to clean up the recent mess but found himself joining it a few seconds later.
Jordan would have yelled at him for it, or begged him to spare the servant. Thing was, Jordan was down in a cell screaming her head off and hating him with every ounce in her body.
He never thought of the image of her locked up for too long, never let that kind of pain sink in too deep.
"Not your lady anymore" she had said that day he was forced to lock her down below.
Those words sparked his anger so fast that the throne room had set on fire on multiple occasions the past few days. Of course he never burned with it, others weren't so lucky. Dianite expected a visit from his brother any day now, he would have heard about the massive amount of his subjects meeting their end in his hands and come for retribution.
Dianite wanted him to come, so he could fight him and maybe calm his mind. A fight with his brother was bound to be a fun distraction.
"You were gonna kill my best friend and burned a town full of innocents for me?! Don't you dare tie me with that! Did you think I would swoon and thank you for it?" The memory of Jordan screaming that at him made him clench the edges of his throne hard enough to break the stone.
"Consider this an official break up and a promise that I will defeat you in this war, me and Ianite, together" Jordan had said
Together.....
TOGETHER!
He was about to let his anger unleash the room into flames when a knock came from one of the adjacent rooms.
"What!" he screamed down at the servant who now stood behind the door, shrinking behind it like a coward.
"The council requests an audience my lord" he said between his shaking breath.
"Fine, let them in" he replied, relaxing his grip on the throne. Still, he could feel Jordan sitting on his lap with him, the memory distracting him enough to not notice the council had been kneeling before him for a few minutes.
They didn't dare stand until commanded to do so and he wished he could just rip their throats out just because they had been there that day everything went wrong. Despite that, he suppressed his anger and motioned them to rise.

"My lord, we came to inform you that the left squadron of the armies has finished training and is ready to be deployed" His war advisor said firmly but with enough submission for Dianite not to rip him to shreds.
Jordan had looked terrified that day she saw his council, her war general had managed to stun her the most that day.
No, don't think about that....
"Then do so. Any other matters that can't wait for my attention some other time?" He said with enough bite to let them know how fragile his control was.
"We were wondering what you plan to do about the prisoner..."
"DON'T YOU DARE DISRESPECT HER! SHE IS MY LADY, YOUR QUEEN, AND YOU WILL NOT CALL HER A PRISONER" he screamed as fire came to life on his hands and snaked its way up his arms.
How many times had Jordan caressed his arms to comfort him....
"Forgive us Lord Dianite" said his pathetic record keeper
"She seems discontent at the moment but we completely understand this behavior will pass once she comes to her senses. The issue is that the residents of Mianite have been looking for her senselessly and by doing so we can't deploy the armies without being noticed by their scouts" said his war general, Arlo.
As always, that monster was always sucking up to him.
"Then kill them, or better yet, have Thomas lead them away. Make him useful for once" the lord replied quickly.
The members of his council looked at one another with doubt before his record keeper spoke up once again.
"Thomas has cut off contact while he looks for the Ianitee...I mean...your lady" he said
"What Colbert is trying to convey is that having the champions, priest, and your own brother around has made it difficult to proceed cautiously" Arlo replied
"Speaking of that nuisance" Dianite said as he felt his brother's presence coming close
"Leave" he commanded and his council fled like rats out of the room.
Not a second later, his brother appeared before him, calm and composed as always.
"Brother" Mianite said "I expected you to come search with us given that your lady is missing, but you seem very comfortable in that throne of yours"
He had two options, either say they were together and were not to be disturbed or that he had legions of his own searching for her. Both good lies, but both could cause problems.
"Since when do you care so much about finding my Jordan?" he asked cooly, reclining back on his throne with a bored expression.
"Since she hasn't been found for five days. I thought you cared about her deeply brother..."
"Do not belittle my feelings for Jordan, you know not how much she means to me. I care for her more than anything" he snapped back
"As do I, she means a lot to many people and we are all worried" Miante said
"Well, clearly she doesn't care that much about all of you then. She was upset about the incident with the pirates and went far from the island, as soon as I realized she wasn't home I sent scouts for her. When she came to me she was so distraught that we decided to get away for awhile." Dianite said
"The island was making her upset, making her remember the deaths of the pirates so we decided to leave for a romantic getaway. I'm surprised she didn't tell you all" he added
Mianite's brows furrowed in confusion.
"Then where is she?" his brother asked

"She's actually waiting for me to return. I had to take care of some court business briefly but am on my way back to her, so if you don't mind" he said, standing up and turning his back on Mianite
He heard his brother sigh and make his way over to him
"How is she doing now? The others told me how she reacted to the...the pirates" he asked, but Dianite could sense this was some sort of test, a way to figure out the truth.
"No better thanks to you brother, you brought those pirates here and made her get close to them by bringing up Ianite. You caused this pain brother and you know it" Dianite said coldly
"Was it you who killed them?" his brother asked
"Of course not, I have better things to dow with my time, like getting back to Jordan. Tell the champions to stop looking for her, she will go back when she decides to" he said before teleporting away to his chambers.
Now that those pesky mortals will stop looking for his lady, he could move in the armies with ease. At least some good had come of spending unnecessary minutes of conversation with Mianite.
Still, he couldn't help destroying his work desk and slicing through the couch he and Jordan had once been in. Both of those objects already had some damage done to them from the previous days but even their remains brought him memories he didn't want to surface.
He wished he could indeed hold her in his arms, her small fragile hands running through his hair, and her sweet words warming his heart.
Dargon missed her too. When he took him out for a ride the other day, the dragon waited expectantly for Jordan. Once they lifted off alone, Dargon stayed silent but looked on the ground for her.
It was odd to see his beast so concerned and infatuated with her, but it shattered something in his dark soul to see his dragon with the kind of pain he too was feeling.
After much hesitation, he teleported before he cell door.
It was quiet inside and there was no sign of light from under the door.
As he approached the door, his hand froze on the wood but he pushed past that doubt and willed the door to open. Only with his magic could such doors open and close, he wanted no one else there with her after all.
When he entered the room, he found it was indeed pitch dark and there was food and wine all over the floor and walls. She had been starving herself then...
The bed was empty but the sheets were shredded much like the couch upstairs to his surprise.
If that didn't seem like enough of a mess, the clothes he had picked out for her were equally as destroyed along with pieces of the furniture scattered among them on the floor.
The carpets were torn, revealing the blood stained floor underneath which she had clearly discovered.
Perhaps she had done all that on the first few days and was no longer upset with him by now. He searched the darkness for her silhouette and found her sitting in the corner of the room hugging her legs.
She didn't greet him or ran over to give him a hug like she had done so many times before.
Instead she stared at him with a deadly glare, not moving a muscle.
"Hello my lady, I see you have made your own accommodations to your room" he said as he made his way over to her.
He was so distracted by her beautiful eyes and desperately waiting for her response that he didn't register when her arm moved and she threw the candle holder straight to his face.
After it made impact she stood from her spot but didn't get closer to him.
Dianite didn't even bother to ease the mild pain in his forehead as he stared at her, trying to asses her thoughts.
"I think you mean cell, and what part of our break up didn't you understand? Go lie and kill for someone else, I'm busy wasting away in yet another imprisonment" she said coldly but he could see the small tears leaving her eyes.
He went over to her, placing his arms on either side of her head and caressed her cheek but she flinched away quickly. Still unable to leave the corner they were in she looked to the side to avoid his gaze.
One again, he felt that mild sting inside his gut but ignored it once again as he focused on the task in hand.
"You haven't been in this world fo long, you don't yet understand that all I have done has been for you. What I have done isn't as wrong as you think, I have killed to keep you safe" he added
She didn't turn to look at him but released a low laugh.
"Killing is killing in any world Dianite, and killing those I love is worse" she said just as low
"You know I care for you, don't throw our love away because of this" he said as he grabbed her chin and forced her face to look at him.
"I've missed you terribly" he added and saw the pain in her eyes
He used his other hand to grab on to her back and pull her closer, never taking his eyes off of her.
"Remember when you used to come see me and we used to hold each other like this" he asked
Jordan tried to look away again but he held his grip on her face firm, waiting for her answer.
When she didn't respond he brought his face closer to hers, now just inches away from hers.
"Remember you would greet me with a kiss that would cause us both to get lost in each other's embrace" Dianite added
He saw that look on her face, the look of her remembering all the times they had together. He could see the longing in her eyes mixed with some remaining pain and anger.
When tears ran along her cheeks, he kissed some away and used his thumb to remove the others. He felt her flinch at their contact and the unfamiliarity of it stopped him dead.
"I thought you were a better person than everybody else though, I was wrong..." she whispered
"You have loved me despite that, remember?" he said against her cheek
"Did you command Furia to befriend me?" she asked softly and that question alone made him pause again
"No, but that doesn't mean he may not have had some plans of his own. If I had know he had been around you so much I would have stopped him, that boy is always plotting."
"And now he is your champion it seems"Jordan said and now looked him in the eye.
"I want to speak with him, privately" she added quickly
Talk. Why? Why would she want to speak to that monster and not him?
"My love, please stop all this. I promise I won't deceive you again and..." he began
"but you will still make me choose, you will still want me to kill Ianite and you will still kill the innocent. Me being by your side without doing anything about it makes me just as responsible for their deaths you know" Jordan said, a bit louder now and with more bite in her tone.
"Can't you see that even though the good you do in the world bothers me to no end doesn't cause me to try to force bad into you. I let you be who you are without trying to make you stop and be like me" he snapped back
"Can't YOU see that you do sometimes. All those times we were in the throne room and you almost killed one of your servants, those deaths would have been on me! You wanted me to watch and find as much pleasure in it as you did"she said
"and I spared them for you!" he screamed
"Exactly! not for them, not for you, but because you didn't want me to run away from you by doing what you do when I'm not around to stop you. I cant fool myself into being in a relationship that is causing more bad than good" she screamed back
"So now you'll go into Tom's arms?" Dianite asked, soon realizing he didn't want to know the answer to that
"Of course not! I don't need a man to be happy or to do the right thing! He is my best friend and if you would have understood that before we wouldn't be in this situation and many innocents would still be alive today" Jordan said as she pushed him back
He made his way back to her and threaded his fingers in her short brown hair.
"You love me still" he said, more to assure himself that it might be true and waited for the confirmation he so desperately needed.
She looked at him with pain in her eyes. Jordan then grabbed his face and kissed him lightly. When Dianite tried to deepen the kiss she pulled away and anger became more visible.
"We're done. Let me go home" she said
Still shocked by her words and kiss, he said nothing no matter how much he tried to force with mouth to move it wouldn't budge.
She just scoffed and made her way around him towards the cell door where Furia was currently standing.
Jordan laughed at his general, grabbed the candle holder from before and chucked it at Furia too. His general managed to duck in time and let out a laugh of his own.
"He should have stopped her, he could have, but her hatred had stabbed him through the heart and replacing all that pain with anger.
Jordan looked at Furia again before moving past him.
"Show me the way back home, you and I need to talk anyways" she said
"Really?" Furia answered with an amused gleam in his eyes
"You have a lot of explaining to do or you can stay here and continue to be Dianite's bitch though I think you will like to get of the nether for a few hours" she replied, not bothering to look back at him or say farewell.
Furia didn't even turn to him for permission and just followed after her.
His blood boiled further but he remained were he was long after Jordan had excited the nether.
Dianite tried to scream or summon his flames, when he came up short on both he teleported to his trining room and began to do what he had done earlier.
"Summon villagers, I need target practice" he instructed no one in particular and fired away.
