《The Spark of Balance: The Realm of Mianite (Book 1)》Ch74- Jordan's conflict

Dianite POV
"I'm sorry" Dianite said when they got back to his room and the others had left
It was harder to say those towards her than he thought it would be, they almost came out too forcefully.
"Can you just tell me one thing?" Jordan asked him
"What is it?"
"How bad is he? How badly has he been tortured while we were up here making out?" She asked with a harsh tone, not like her at all
"Actually, he hasn't. Ever since I figured I felt something for you I haven't gone down to see him, much less torture him. I felt that if I did, it would be like torturing a part of you" he answered honestly
It's not as if he hadn't tried to, but when he looked at his brother he could hear Jordan's screams for some reason. Nothing made him angrier than seeing his relieved expression.
"The quarrel between me and my brother goes back years and his imprisonment is more complex than you yet realize. Its unfortunate that you feel torn between the two, just understand that this is being done for just matters"
"Just matters? For whom?" She asked
Before he could answer, he attention shifter elsewhere in her mind. She didn't even make it to the couch before she collapsed with worry and dismay.
"Jordan? What's going on!?" He asked as he teleported to her side
"Nothing, I just...remembered I have to meet with the wizards about the house they are building for me today" she lied
"The giant tree? You know it is very tempting for me to burn it" he joked to make her laugh
A fait smile crossed her face for a few seconds before sadness returned to her complexion.
"Do so and I'll blow your castle apart, the wizards have been so kind as to make me a new home that reminds me of..."
When she didn't finish her sentence worried crept up around him. She had mentioned that the concept of the tree had been based on him and his brothers but Jordan would have mentioned it just then if that was it.

"it just reminds me of someone" she said
"Whom might that be? Do I know him?" Dianite asked
"Not personally. He is someone from back home whom I idolized, but he is someone who would make different choices right now if he were I'm my shoes" she said,
"And?"
"I admired him very much, his kindness and sincerity brought a smile to my face. I wish I could do him justice at times, the tree is my best attempt to do so" she said
Dianite joined her on the floor. She had a saddened smile on her face, her mind seemed elsewhere.
"Was he your partner before me?" He asked, not wanting to hear an answer because that was a man he could not kill, he was in a far away world somewhere far from the rage of his fireballs.
Jordan just laughed.
"Of course not, I'm practically invisible to him. He is a somebody and I a nobody, just one amongst billions of people" she said
Billions? He had no idea her civilization was so diverse or that someone that had become so much in the island would be unnoticed in a world of people who couldn't possible compare.
He knew the sting of feeling like a shadow, unnoticed, it just never occurred to him that she would feel it too given the fact that she's always surrounded by love and support.
"I guess he'll live to see another day then" Dianite added
"Don't you dare ever threaten my sweet cinnamon roll! Plus the internet would kill you if you did" she added unable to hide a smile that time
"Who is that? And why are we talking about food? I meant the boy" he said
She laughed for a while and rolled her eyes as if her explanation was obvious and she had to explain it to a child. Still, as much as he...enjoyed...her smile she wouldn't let it last long.
Her eyes grew focused and full of determination, sweet Jordan was gone, this was the face of a Jordan that used force first and set feelings aside.

"I have been willing to give you your space, I wanted you to take baby steps into trusting me but this is personal matters. You will tell me what this thing with Ianite is about because I'm not gonna let him suffer any longer and I'm not just asking because I care about him but because I care about you" she said getting up from the floor and folding her arms to her chest
He wanted to tell her, but at the same time he didn't. This was her state of revenge and she could either take it out on him or Ianite. It was a gamble, seeing whom she would side with.
"He sent the wizards to kill my people, they drowned them all so as punishment I had him end his people" he blurted out as quickly as possible, hoping she wouldn't understand any of it
"How do I know your not lying?" She asked
"You should know the difference between secrets and lies by now" he said
"Right. Well, I should go, we have a last minute purge planned for tomorrow and I wanna get up early to practice" Jordan said with little affection in her tone
"Very well, I'll tune in to see how my champion destroys all of you"
"You wish, I've made an almost complete recovery, he can try but Syndi made the mistake of teaching me some of his tricks" she said with an evil smile he had seen reflected on his collection many times but never on her, still, it suited her.
"Syndi? Since when does he have a nickname? And why that, it sounds so affectionate, he is the servant of the god of all evil!"
"Oh but Dia is acceptable? Gotta say, it suits your sweet side" Jordan said before flashing another smile and running out the room with a laugh trailing her steps
He chased around until the laughter couldn't let her continue and she collapsed in laughter. He joined her on the floor and bit her ear playfully as punishment, even though he too found himself laughing.
"Are we on good terms?" He asked
"Yeah, I guess we are. It will take more than this for me to give up on you. Now teleport me back home because I don't know my way out of this labyrinth of a castle you have"
"Now you're giving the lord of the nether commands? How bold of you Lady Sparkles, but as you know, I'm a man of deals. What will I get in return for my services?"
"Hmmmm...how about I promise to go easy on your champion for the first half of the purge. Maybe that will give him a fighting chance?"she said, moving strand of hair out of her face to look at him
"I have a better idea. How about you take care of my revenge towards the priest for bringing my brother into this. You will visit him after the purge and...make him uncomfortable by asking him for dating advice. You're not allowed to leave until his face is as bright as red stone or until he begs for you to stop"
"You trulls are evil!" She said with a fake gasp "Are u sure this isn't punishment for me as well? This is like me going in for a confession at church but not asking for forgiveness"
"Do you want to get back home before the sun rises or not?" Dianite asked with a smile, knowing it was a horrible trade she would have to accept
"Don't I get a girlfriend discount or something?"
"Afraid not, my deals contain no bias. And trust me, if I took feelings into account the price would me much higher and much more personal" he joked
She rolled her eyes and pushed him aside
"Fine, ill kill the priest emotionally! You win...but just know that I will take out my anger at the purge, your champion has no shot of winning now"
"Ah, I love it when deals come together. Well then my lady, if you would be so kind as to hold my hand. One teleportation coming up"

Void Breaker
Note: Sadly, this story is currently on hiatus :( Elizabeth Sayler had lost everything in the bombing of Reaver Stadium. Her career, her fame, her power — all of it vanished the moment she lost use of her legs. Now, she's beginning to lose hope of ever healing herself… until her world integrates into the Void. When the apocalypse comes in a flurry of System messages, everyone on earth is given a choice: give up what they value most in themselves, and acquire a path to their heart’s greatest desire. Most would hesitate, but for Liz? She has nothing to lose, and absolutely everything to gain. Armed with newfound powers in a world teeming with monsters, she’s determined to not only survive, but to somehow break the Void’s endless assault. * * * This is a small note about the portrayal of disability in this story. As much research as I do and as many people as I ask, I will in the end only be able to understand a small portion of paraplegia and similar disabilities. Therefore, if there is anything particularly disrespectful, please do not hesitate to contact me. I always intended to portray disability in a respectful way in this story, but please know that Liz as a character does not start out with a healthy view of disability. This is intentional, and a large part of her character development comes from this view changing as she learns. Disability is not something she simply "discards" at the beginning of the story, but an ongoing theme and a part of her journey.

Tabula Rasa : An Unbound Adventure
It starts as many things do: a clean slate, an empty page. What once was set in stone and wholly writ is gone, and all that's left is the vague notion of absence, a fullness lacking. The feeling of being tetherless, pathless, without direction or responsibility is something many would find terrifying. Others might find it freeing - an opportunity to strike out on new adventures and explore the unknown.Either way, first they have to figure out where they are and how they leave. ====== My first novel on this platform! An avid GameLit/LitRPG fan, I decided to start writing this when I seemed to exhaust all of my options for well reviewed content on the site! Inspiration for the world/general feeling is a mix of Azarinth Healer, Abyssal Road Trip, Winterborn, and the Power of Ten series, with a strong reliance on 3.5 and PF1 frameworks as a scaffold for the world. I see Arc 1 as a Robinson Crusoe style coming to terms scenario, lots of exploration of the System, the MC's options, the island and encounters with the denizens and visitors of the Timeless Isle, with a non-zero amount of introspection around their long term goals. I'll publish as frequently as I'm able but don't have a regular cadence planned at the moment.
