Tom POV-
Jordan was inside, he could see her inside Champwan's place. She was laughing along with the rest of his friends, squinting her nose the way she always did when she laughed too hard.
There he was, five steps away from his beautiful Jordan that he hadn't been able to see for days. It had been a long day, taking care of some last errands for Dianite in the morning that were more dangerous than he would have liked and going mining later on in the day really made him just wanna fall asleep in that instant.
But he had to see her.
He wasn't aware of how well Jordan had recovered from her death experience. Tom had asked Champwan how she was, he gave a vague answer of "She's doing much better" like he wasn't worthy on an answer.
Jerk.
Tom began walking until he stopped right in front of the door. He could still hear the laughter and undoubtedly Jordan's music. She had let him borrow her magic device a couple times to listen to recorded music.
He quite loved it.
In fact, Tom already knew more songs than he could count and Jordan loved singing along with him.
Maybe they could sing some more later, it always cheered them both up in times of stress or even before a purge.
Before he had a chance to knock on the door it opened by itself. The light from the nearby candles made it hard to see who opened the door, it wasn't until he heard a familiar squeal and laugh that he lunged into her arms.
"Tom!!! You're back!" Jordan screamed as they embraced each other
"Did you miss me?" Tom said as he hugged her even tighter
"Are you kidding! I thought Dianite would work you to death, I was worried sick!" She said "Please don't leave for that long even again without communicating"
"There is no place I'd rather be than here" he said
Just as he was starting to enjoy his reunion with Jordan two bodies tackled him from behind and the four of them fell over.
Tucker and Sonja...

As they all finished their reunions, Champwan was in the kitchen preparing a meal or something, but he never welcomed him back. How rude.
It didn't matter. He was finally in the living room alone with Jordan after 20 minutes of being questioned by his friends.
She looked healthy and back to normal, much different from how she looked last time he saw her. Tom was beyond happy with relief, somehow he knew that Tucker and Sonja as well as the wizards wouldn't let her die again.
But there were other things that worried him.
"So I heard you've been staying here" Tom said
"Yeah, in case I had a...medical emergency. But all has been great, me and Champwan got along great" she said
"So are you planning on going back home today, or you could come have a sleepover at my place" he said
Then they all started laughing.
"I have to stay here for a couple more nights since my wound isn't fully healed yet and that could cause inner bleeding. But..have fun at home" she said before she began laughing
"What did you guys do!" Tom yelled
"Nothing, just an early birthday present. Wanna go for a swim?" Said Sonja
Go for a swim?....oh no they didn't!
"Youre gonna love it. We built especially for your pet fish. Now he can live in a proper home" Tucker said
As much as he didn't want to see his house filled with water, Tom had to check on his stuff. He had some very important god items that if he were to lose could get him killed.
Tom didn't even continue questioning them and just ran in the direction of him home, but of course everyone followed.
When they reached the small island his house was in, Tom was in shock. His house was gone! He had expected to see water dripping out of his house all over the place, instead there was no sign of it.
"Jordan...where is my house?" Tom asked nicely. As cruel as the others could be Jordan would never let them blow up his house, and if they had, she wouldn't be laughing along with them.

Jordan took off her shoes, jacket, and cape and left all her weapons and bag behind.
"Wanna go for a swim?" She asked
Before he could ask what was going on the rest took off their valuables as well and jumped into the water, disappearing into the darkness.
"Whats going on?" Tom asked while pulling her back before she could dive in with the rest
" Well, I had to keep busy while you were gone, I was bored to death" she joked
Tom was still very concerned for his house and belongings, but at the end of the day they were just material things, and he loved the way Jordan joked.
So he began sprinting towards her with a battle cry. She tried to run away but her laughter slowed her down and Tom caught up pretty fast. He carried her on his shoulder and spun her around till she begged for mercy.
"Hahaha ok. You know, I wanted to say this earlier, but I was worried sick about you. I hate that I had to leave when you were in such a rough state" Tom said as he finally put her down but held on to her waist
"You shouldn't have, everyone took great care of me" she said "Though I did miss you terribly, I missed movie nights"
"I did too... Whats wrong? What are you staring at?" Tom asked when Jordan looked away from him
"The sky, its so beautiful tonight. Reminds me of a dream" she said
"Well it better not be a dream with god of the end" Tom joked
"No, not at all. Maybe we can talk about it tomorrow if you want to hear about it" Jordan asked
" Your dream stories always entertain me" he said "If fact we have lots to talk about, stay at my place tonight and we can stay up talking"
"Haha dont you want to see where you will be staying first?" She said
Jordan loosened his grab and ran into the water, seconds later she was beckoning him to join her before she disappeared underwater.
He joined her.....but when he looked down he couldn't believe his eyes. It was his house in some sort of underwater glass ball. What on earth had they done?
Jordan swam ahead through an opening, as soon as she reached the inside she began falling down into the ground. He wanted to swim faster to catch her but he was barely at the opening.
Champwan caught her though.... So gracefully too
Meanwhile Tom just fell into a nearby pool of water, the fall was terrifying, but seeing Jordan was still in Champwan's arms took some of the fear away and replaced it with something else.
"Thanks! I miscalculated where the pool would be" Tom could hear Jordan say
"No worries, I'll always be here to catch you" Champwan replied
That little....
Tom got out of the pool and took a good look around. Everything looked the same down to the same trees.
"I cant believe you guys did this! I'm not gonna lie...I kinda like it. Good luck trying to attack me during a purge" he said
The rest cursed at themselves for not thinking about that earlier. Looked like he had won in the end after all.
"Well if you dont mind, I'm gonna look around to make sure you guys didn't steal anything" Tom said
While the rest laughed and said their goodbyes, Jordan stayed behind.
"I'm sorry but there is something I have to do tonight, mind if I come in the morning to hang out? It is your birthday after all and I'm planning on taking you out somewhere nice" she said
Tom couldn't help but laugh. He was sad she wouldn't stay with him tonight but fantasies of tomorrow filled his mind with nothing but joy.
"My lady is taking me out for my birthday? Cant wait!"
Jordan gave him hug before she began crawling to a lower whole to exit his tank home.
"Have a good night Tom" she said
Tom stood there, watching her swim safely to the surface where Champwan was probably waiting for her.
Something was off about him, he seemed upset. Although he didn't really care how others felt, Tom couldn't help but wonder if Jordan was involved.
No matter, tomorrow would be great.

Force Majeure: A web novel
In the Qursan Empire, the grey walls of the city press down on its subjects. It is a highly divided society which is based on the magical strength of its citizens. While the most powerful are trained as Mages, the majority of citizens use their limited skills with essence to power the city in their assigned jobs. Jano is pretty much the lowest of the low in the Qursan Empire. A Class Ten citizen forced into transitory work after having his power restricted. When he gets the opportunity to change all of that, he takes it with both hands. Please note this is an edited version of my story ‘city of captives’. It follows a similar structure but I’ve ironed out some of the kinks. If you read that version, much of this will be similar though there are some differences. This is a slow burning progression fantasy. Please expect at least two chapters per week. I love writing this story but I do have unfortunate things to deal with like work and life outside of writing. I may be able to write and edit more than that, but it will never be less! If you enjoy this, consider following me on Instagram by just searching Crow J Williams.
