《The Spark of Balance: The Realm of Mianite (Book 1)》Ch48- Talks and Vault building

Claire POV-

"Just take a seat anywhere, make yourself at home" Champwan said

"Your place is amazing! It's huge and very well organized! How on earth did you build all this?" Jordan asked when she realized they were no longer in the same room.

She panicked for a bit, the place was huge and she already didn't know where the entrance of the home was.

She was completely lost.

"My father built this place, I merely perfected it for my lifestyle. I don't get many guests, thought that may be my fault" he said sepping back into the room with some tea

"I won't be staying long. I have a bone to pick with a certain god later" she said taking the tea and sitting at the chair in front of his

"Don't tell me Mianite ha should running errands" he said sipping his tea

"No, Dianite and I just have a lot to discuss"

He almost choked on his tea, spilling some out into his rug. He took a look at her before setting the teacup down and taking hers.

"I had a talk with him recently, he seemed rather distressed about you. With Dianite that usually means he wants to kill you, but he seemed different. He actually asked me what I knew about you"

"He did? What for?" She asked

"Don't know. I told him the truth, that I didn't know anything more than the others. Which is why I wanted to talk, I became interested in you the more I thought about it.. you are quite the mistery around here" he said

"So that's why you wanted do talk, to tell Dianite my weaknesses! I thought you didn't work for the Gods, I thought you were neutral in all this!" She said taking the teacup back

"And I though you were loyal to Ianite, yet you worked for Mianite and Dianite in stopping the shadows" he said softly

"What...that was just me getting back at Nade. The shadows weren't real..." she said.

He didn't say anything for a few seconds, just sat there looking at his fireplace. Jordan could see the flame of the fire reflected on his eyes and the power he possessed.

"You don't have to lie to me, I know everything. Before you deny it all I want to assure you that I won't tell the others,I understand what's at stake here for the god's. That being said, I want some information in return for my silence if you don't mind" he said never losing sight of the fire

"Depends on what you wan to know and who you want to tell" she said

"I won't tell anyone, this is for my own curiosity. It's like you said, I'm neautral. If Dianite wishes to know anything you tell me he will only hear it from your lips, you have my word"

Whether or not she could trust Champwan was undecided. He seemed genuine and if there was a question that was problematic she didn't have to answer it. Though it was odd that someone like him would be so interested in her.

She was nobody after all.

The most concerning part was that Dianite wanted information about her, why he wanted it was troubling. But at the end of the day, telling Champwan a thing or two to keep her friends safe seemed logical.

"Fine, shoot" Jordan finally answered

Champwan turned back to face her and threw her a blanket. The room was warm with the fire but still cold enough that she was thankfully for it. She wrapped it around her body and Champwan cleared his throat.

"Well, I wish to know your real name for starters. Then I want you to tell me why you follow Ianite, just to break the ice" Champwan said grabbing g a blanket for himself

"Um ok. My name is Claire, that's the name I was born with. I follow Ianite because I believe not only in him, but in his cause. I couldn't find myself identifying with the othe gods because they had characteristics I didn't feel comfortable with if I'm being honest"

"That brings me to my next question, it's about the gods and you. I see you have jewelry and gifts from all three gods, that's very rare here. For staters, what is your relationship with Ianite?"

"That's easy, I'm his champion! We have helped eachother in more ways than one, I would even dare to say that we trust eachother" she answered nervously, why would taking about her god make her nervous?

"Got it. Well what about Mianite the all mighty?"

"Well, we get along. He has helped me I guess though we don't talk often. I guess I also don't talk very often with Ianite but that's for other reasons"

"As expected I suppose. Yet he seems to trust you, enough to give you one of his most prized possessions at the very least. What about Dianite?"

"Ugh don't even get me started! He's such a bully! All he wants is for me to joint his side and see me suffer. Why the hell does he pick on me so much?" She said flustered

If there was one person in the island that she could not stand or comprehend it was the god of the nether. Sometimes she just wanted Tom to leave team Dianite because she was afraid he would get hurt, but nothing could ever change his mind.

"He does seem very invested in you, all the gods are. Claire, I'm gonna be honest with you because you have been with me. There is something different with the god's when it comes to you, they are just fascinated by you. It's not because of where you come from that's for sure, and it's not because your an Ianitee... but they all want you on their side. They've told me that much."

Jordan couldn't take it anymore. She never thought about he much attention she was recieving for the god's compared to everyone else. It just seemed natural to have them as a part of her daily life. Now that she thought about it. The god's only interés te dwith their champions most of the time...

"What else did they say? I didn't know you guys were best friends and had talk about me behind my back"

Champwan stood with her and rested his hands on her shoulders. Jordan knew that he was a much better fighter than she was, trying to fight him would be useless.

"It's not like that. Though they have the priest as their messenger and babysitter of sorts, I'm kinda like a Councelor for them. The gods have lived for centuries, that causes some serious need to vent about stuff. But eversice you came, that's all that both of them have been talking about, you"

That was creepy.

"I'm not that big of a deal, I'm sure they are just annoyed by me. Speaking of which, hypothetically speaking, if a god were to kiss someone would that mean anything?"

He was the god's Councelor, if anyone could give her answers, it was this guy.

"Gods don't kiss people Claire. If they did that would be ungheard of, as god's they try to show no emotions whatsoever. Ianite is the youngest so maybe he would be more in touch with human qualities, was he the one who kissed you?"

Jordan's baked away quickly to the other end of the room as fast as she could. She knocked against some swords and lost her balance.

The god's don't do that.

"Of course not! It wasn't him! Like I said, it was hypothetical! Besides why don't they show emotions?" She asked. Unable to pick herself back up, she just sat down and collected her thoughts

Why had that son of...why had Dianite kissed her then?

"Gods can't afford them, they are immortal. If they did show emotion then that would be different...they are even stoic with their own champions, the people closest to them. Though I must ask, were you planning on kissing a god?" He said laughing, making his way over to help her up

"Of course not! I just read something about that in a book and it seemed weird that a god would do that..." she lied

"Well, god's have fallen in love before. That's the only time they have shown emotions, though these gods have never fallen in love, there are records of god's falling for other gods and even humans sometimes" he said picking her up

She took his hand and wrapped her blanket back on. The conversation was getting really weird so Jordan just wanted to change the subject fast, nothing was making sense at that point.

"So...have you fallen in love before? Aside from Tucker and Sonja I don't see other couples here" she asked nervously as she played with the threads of the blanket for comfort

"I mean, there were no other women in the island up until your arrival and I've lived here all my life so...no I have not. I also don't have time for that kind of stuff, as you can see, I have a very difficult job to handle. Though I enjoyed our talk, it was nice to have company for once. Even though now you have cuts all over your arms...I'll fix that" he said in between chuckles

She may have taken on three gods and succeeded, but she was still incredibly clumsy. Oddly enough, she hadnt even felt her injury until he brought it up, guess she was getting used to all sorts of pain by now.

Champwan then guided her to a bedroom and have her some cloths to stop the bleeding.

"I'm gonna go get some healing potions, in the meantime just sit around and relax. We don't want you tripping on the floor and getting a concussion." He said as he exited the room

Jordan stayed seated at the bed for a few minutes until she noticed a painting on the bed stand. It was a little boy with an older man...and the gods. And by gods she meant the three gods! Ianite was there!

She took the small painting and smiled at the sight of her god. He looked so happy and full of life, she could look at his smile for hours and she would have were it not for the other mystery of the painting....

Dianite was different. He didn't have red skin or horns, he actually looked a lot like his brothers, the only difference between the three was their hair and eyes. They were all around. The same height and had the same body features, they even had similar smiles.

Dianite still looked moody but was smiling regardless, he was even leaning on his brothers shoulders. The painting must be of Champwan, he was the little boy and the older man must be his father. She could even see the priest in the background sleeping on a hill, the place looked exactly like the front of the house she was in right now..

She had so many questions about the gods but she snapped out of her thoughts when she heard steps coming from the corridor. She put the painting back were it was and sat where Champwan had left her.

"Her drink this, Tom told me during the purge you had a thing for potions but it will do you some good I promise" he said handing over a small white flask with glowing liquid.

She drank it without hesitation, she had so many questions for him that arguing over a potion seemed childish, she was 21 now after all.

Before she could even begin her question he beat her to it.

"What will you do now, its late. Would you like me to walk you home?" He asked

"That would be great, thanks. I actually think Sonja made some extra cookies this morning so you could come in and have some. I'll probably just work on my vault till morning"

"Vault?"

"Yeah, there are siempre valuables all of us want to keep safe from the purges so we are building rooms that we can lock so no one can get in. It's something we want to try out and I want to gets started on mine as soon as possible. Though I have a lot of excavation to do before I even build anything..." she said in distress.

Mining want her favorite activity, it was messy and although it didn't take nearly as long as it would back in her world, it was still a timely activity.

"Mind if I help? As you can see, I don't have much to do around here tonight" Champwan joked

"I'm down for that! I'll pay you with cookies in that case!" Jordan joked back

They both ran back to her house in record time. When they made it to the porch of her home she saw that her lights were turned on...

She want sure if it was just Tom wanting to have another sleepover or if this was something serious so she pointed it out to Champwaspn without saying a word. Both of them made their way in quietly only to find no one in her living room.

"Maybe I just forgot to turn off my candles I guess" she said

"I'm afraid that wa just me" said Dianite from behind her

As if from instinct, as soon as Dianite began to speak, Champwan reacted. He didn't even turn around to see who it was, he just pushed Jordan behind him and pointed his sword behind him. When he saw who it was he quickly lowered it and apologized.

"Sorry Lord Dianite. Jordan and I were just startled" he said

"Speaking of which, why are you both sneaking around so late at night?" Dianite asked

Champwan and Jordan looked at eachother confused. She just shrugged it off and went to the kitchen to get some cookies for her guest. Champwan just sat in her living room and received the food with joy. Once she handed over the food she faced Dinante directly

"What are you doing here anyways? Come to toss me to the river?" She asked

"As temping as that is, I came here at your request" the lord of the nether said calmly, never talking his eyes off Champwan

"Oh right. Well Champwan, do you mind starting the vault without me for a bit? I'll be down in a few" she said

Champwan weathered his food and some nearby tools and nodded. He made his way down the stars and when they heard him working away Dianite teleported Jordan to her room.

She couldn't think of what she wanted to ask first, there were so many question she had and he probably would answer any of them anyways. Turned out she didn't have to ask anything because Diante had things to say as well.

" If you want to ask me to release my brother again you are out of luck, it's out of the question." He said

Jordan made her way to her bed and just laid down in frustration.

"You're the worst.." was all she could muster out of her mouth.

Diante just laughed and laid down on the other side of the bed. Jordan wanted to move away as quickly as she could, but what good would that do?

She saw tired. She had a full purge day, visited the nether, and ran back home. At this point she just wanted to sleep and see Ianite, but she also wanted many answers and to work on that vault.

"I hate you more than anyone of this island, and trust me, it's very hard for me to hate others. I guess you hate me too, being an Ianitee and all. But why on earth did you invade my personal space! Did you curse me or poison me or something?" Jordan said wrapping her cape on her lap

"You will soon want to be on my side so I wouldn't worry much about that. As for what happened.." he said kissing her forehead again before she could flinch away " you will be my second champion, its something between us"

"For the last time, I will never be on your side! Ianite is whom I chose and who I will always chose. You and Miante need to get that through your heads, I'm not changing my mind" she said grabbing her sword

Jordan was beyond done with talking to him. She jumped off the bed and ran downstairs to the vault construction site on her basement. She looked behind her expecting Dinate to be there, but it seemed he was gone.

Jordan and Champwan spent most of the night digging until they both fell asleep down there. She drifted off with the hopes of finding her god once more, maybe he would know what could be done to free him.

Right now that was her only goal. He was the only one who could answer her questions after all.
