《The Spark of Balance: The Realm of Mianite (Book 1)》Ch.40- Betrayal

Claire POV-
The shadows was just as dumb as his sons, but he had been right about a lot. She appreciated that, but not that much.
When the shadows turned around he saw there was a sword through him, he looked down at his abdomen and then back at her.
"How dare you! You cant kill me with a mere sword you mortal! You're not as smart as I thought." He said.
She couldn't help but crack a smile, if there was such a thing as self pride, she was full of it.
"Actually this isn't just a normal sword. Remember that sword you had me steal from Tom, you wanted it so badly because it could kill you. Before we left, I replaced it with my sword behind your back. I knew you would be on guard as long as I had the bow, but you never expected the sword now did you?" She said proudly as the shadows fell to his knees.
Fear filled his eyes, as he tried to pull the sword out he faced his sons.
" Who would have though we would meet our end together. In the end, I never thought I would die by your sides, specially by her hands. Who knew a human could outsmart us all? She has managed to do the impossible and kill three gods....hahaha...this is madness!" The shadows said in a panic
"Actually I didn't. Both Miante and Dianite aren't dying." She said
"What?" Asked Dianite
"Here take these potions of healing, you should be fine." She said, throwing two bottles at the ground in front of them
"But...what?" Said Mianite
"I did use the bow capable of killing gods, but I didn't use the arrows the bow provides. I used regular arrows instead."
"Then...you were never on his side?" Asked Mianite.
"I was considering it to be honest. I was almost sure that killing all the gods was the best call until Mianite mentioned that Ianite was so hurt he couldn't even stand. That's when I realized that the shadows had lied to me. Ianite being so weak explains why he wasn't around as much. Plus I did a little research before burning the scales, I snuck into the priest's house and quickly grabbed some books on Ianite. I know that what happened wasn't intentional, or completely his fault." She said
"Then you don't hate us?" Asked Dianite
"I know the capabilities of evil the shadows can create from...stories, I do see him as a big threat, hence why he is dying. Both of you still have some things to explain to me but I don't hate you. Well Dianite I do hate a little bit..."

" Then all of this was just to gain father's trust?" Miante asked
"Yes. I am somewhat hurt by what you guys said about me but I know it's the truth, and I'm glad that Ianite didn't come. Last thing I wanted was to fake shoot him too."
"About that, he doesn't know anything about this. We just said that to convince father of his mistake. Ianite has been worried sick about you, I told Ianite that what you did was not your fault, he knows everything and he doesn't blame you" said Miante
"When?!" Asked Dianite
"Before you locked up the cell, I was afraid she would die so he deserved to know the truth. Besides he couldnt mess up the mission from a jail cell" said Mianite
"Anyways...I'm kinda sorry for shooting you guys. I hope Dianite doesn't throw fire balls at me for the rest of my life for it.." she said nervously
If anyone would be mad at her little fiasco it would be Dianite, although it had felt good to shoot him that didn't mean she wasn't afraid of him
"You guys are all dead!" Said the shadows with his last bit of strength
"Good luck dealing with mother's rage, say hello to her for us. That is if she even lets you talk." Said Dianite right before his father passed away
As soon as his life gave out, the shadow's body turned into ashes and evaporated.
The three of them stood there watching his ashes being washed up by the wind, that's when it hit her that she had killed a god....wow.
"Anyways...no hurt feelings?" She asked nervously trying to break the silence
"You carried out the mission, it wasn't easy. You are in my very good graces and I am eternaly thankful to you for riding the world of my fathe's darkness." Said Mianite
Then she slowly turned towards the lord of the nether nervously
"I guess it was a cunning plan on your part, and the arrow didn't hurt that much. I wont kill you." Said Dianite with a smile
In her mind that might have actually been the closest she would get to a complement. Before she had a chance to appreciate how lucky she was she saw Miante look behind them.
"There is a boat in the distance." Said Mianite
"Wait...is that Nade?" Jordan guessed, squinting her eyes as much as possible to,try to see past the settting sun.

"He followed the shadows, how are you gonna explain this! He will hate us for killing his god." She said in a panic
"Leave it to me, your original idea may be of use." Said Dianite as he teleported toward the edge of the island to speak to Nade.
After a moment of silence Jordan spoke up the burning question on her mind.
"Did you brand me?" Jordan asked Miante
He looked a bit shocked at her statement but quickly gave her a warm smile
"Of course not. Did father tell you that? Let me guess, the jewelry I gave you. I did not brand you. Jewelry does symbolize branding in this world unless its enchanted, the one I gave you is very much tampered with magic. My mother had a wizard place a spell on it, since it's magical it is a sign of trust." He said almost laughing
"Oh. So it was just a symbol of your trust...if you don't mind me asking, what was the spell the wizard placed on it?"
"Happiness. To mother, a spark of happiness was the greatest remedy for any situation. I hoped that it would shine a light to you and Sonja in dark times, to keep you happy."
"And the one Ianite gave me?"
"Ahh well, that's better than the one I was able to offer. It..." he said before he was cut off by shouting in the distance.
Both turned around to find Tucker, Sonja, and Tom rushing their way for the other side of the island. They were all in full armor ready for a fight but they slowed their pace when they realized there was no problem between her and Miante
Confused they all slowly made their way still on guard.
"I will tellt them that this was all a test like you had mentioned before, you were just helping Dianite trick Nade. If they think it's a prank I'm sure they will take it more lightly since that's what you all do. I will also return all their lost items to prevent this conflict from escalating. Now go check up on Dianite, hopefully he isn't being to hard on that mortal. Once they have cooled down you may speak to your friends" said Mianite as he sent her away
To her friends this would all just have been a test, a prank, when the truth was much more troubling. All of the decisions that she had made so far were based on logic and probability, all up to this mission. This was all about what was right or wrong, as stressful and scary as it was, it sure was a great boost of confidence. A great story she wou,d never be able to tell.
After all was cleared up everyone headed home, except for Nade, he was in so much trouble he would be spending some time in the Neather with Dianite.
To her surprise Tom headed home with her, she tough perhaps he had moved back home.
The walk was long and they hadn't spoken since they were in the island, even that had just been simple apologies. Before she had a chance to break the ice, Tom spoke up.
"You're wearing the cape I got you. It suits you well, as I had predicted of course." He said with a smile
"I love it. I can't believe you went trough the trouble of getting it made." Jordan said embarrassed
"You haven't even seen the best part I bet. If you lift up the thin top layer of it I had your initials engraved on it, we'll sort of" he said lifting up a small layer of cape
Sure enough the letters CS were engraved on it in the color gold.
"CS?" She asked
"Remember our jokes during training. How I used to call you Captain Sparkles when I taught you how to use a boat. I thought it would be hilarious. The top layer comes off if you want the CS to show. But I figured you would love to just have a plain red cape at times"
She couldn't find the words to thank him for that small personal detail. Sure enough, to her it looked like the Captain Sparkles logo that Jordan's minecraft skin had, but now it had become something personal for her.
She let go of her bag and gave Tom a big hug. She had missed her friends this whole time it felt good to be in Tom's embrace. They must have stood there for minutes until they finally made their way back home.
This time she didn't complain about Tom being in her room. She was happy to have her friends back that she let him sleep there without a doubt, sleeping in his embrace was the best sleep she had experienced in weeks.
