《The Spark of Balance: The Realm of Mianite (Book 1)》Ch34- Letting go...

Claire POV-
Jordan opened her eyes to find Tom right on top of her.
She was back home in bed...looks like the Shadows kept his promise after all. Actually, he had told her his real name, if her memory served, his name was Botan. Aside from the many things they spoke off before she fell asleep for the second time, that was one of the most important.
She would need time to analyze all the things the had told her, analyze and remember... for now, she had a terrified Tom right in top of her. If she hadn't been in this world for so long, she may have just freaked out.
"Jordan! You're not gonna believe it, my fancy sword, it's gone!"
That's when she remembered her betrayal toward him. The look in his eyes, it's really did sting just now.
"Are your sure you didn't just misplace it last night?" She asked, although she already knew the answer.
"No mate! This is bogus! It was death!!!"
"Do you have any idea how weird that sounds? So what if death took your sword, just ask Dianite for a new one" she said as she got up from her bed and ran downstairs.
"He would kill me if he found out I lost it!"
"How about this, you look upstairs once more just to make sure. I'll go check my basement. If we can't find it we'll ask Tucker and Sonja when they wake, ok?"
"Fine. But there is something strange going on.."
"When isn't there?" Jordan said as she ran to her basement, locking the door behind her.
The guilt was eating at her, she had stolen from one of her best friends. It was to keep them safe sure, but that doesn't make it right.
Jordan began uselessly looking though all her chests knowing she wouldn't find anything, when she saw a tall shadow behind her. Before turning around she decided to carefully plan how she would react, she was his champion after all.
" Hello my lord. What an unexpected surprise, is there anything I can do to assist you?" She asked innocently as she bowed to 'her god'
"Good morning my dear champion. I trust you...slept well. I am in fact here with a task for you, one that will truly help our cause" he said taking hand.

As she fought the reflex to yank her hand away, she kneeled down and let go of her weapon.
"Anything for you my lord" she lied
"I would like you to go burn the scales of justice. It is a false symbol that should not be showcased, it only promotes an evil god"
"You want me to destroy them... what a waste, they took me so long to build..but you are right as always. I shall go destroy the right away, I want no trace of my devotion of Ianite to remain."
That coward wanted her to destroy them. Her scales! He tribute to her god, destroyed... this would be the hardest things he would ever have to do, but she already came this far through the plan.
"Very well. We will meet soon. Take care." He said as he teleported out of the room.
As always, she never knew where he could be, she kept her posture and tried to hide the fact that she had just died inside.
'I'm sorry Ianite', she thought over and over as she gathered explosives and packed them as quickly as she could.
Once all her supplies were set, she made her way to the front door, confident she was able to sneak out without a problem until then.
"Where are you going? Did you find it?"
"No. I actually forgot I have to take care of something today, it won't take long. I'll be back in a bit."
" Hold on, you have been acting weird since last night. You're the one that told me to leave to sword here last night, something tells me that's not a coincidence. That and I noticed you have a new ring...I didn't notice it last night before we went to bed.."
"I've always had this... and as for the sword, can you blame me for being afraid of being stabbed by accident during my sleep. Anyways, I'll see you in a bit."
Jordan ran to door and slammed it hard being her. She could bare to look back at Tom, he knew...
She tried to walk to the statue as slow as possible, trying to buy it more time. In the end it was inevitable. If she was to succeed, she had to do whatever the Shadows asked.

Luckily there was no one around to witness this. She took out the explosives and laid them around the statue. Once they were all connected and ready to go, she stepped back as far as the wire would let her.
Jordan took one last look at them, her monument for Ianite.
She was about to press the button when Sonja, Tucker, and Tom showed up.
"What on Mianite's name are you doing Jordan!" Screamed Tucker
"The scales...are you...why are you blowing them up!" Sonja asked terrified
Before she had a chance to explain, the shadows teleported next to her, he wrapped his arm across her shoulders as if to make a statement.
"As you can see, Jordan is blowing it up. She doesn't want any more ties to her old god. Now she is my champion, she has been for a while."
"You're lying! She wouldn't, what kind of threats have you told her!" Asked Tom as he got his sword out, ready for a fight.
If she didn't do something this would get messy and she would lose her cover.
"He didn't! I wanted to become his champion. He is my one true god, it is my honor and duty to serve him, and I wan to do it. I hate the gods, all three of them, the shadows and I will end them once and for all. I would appreciate it if you didn't get in our way" she said, fighting back the tears of frustration.
"This is some sort of joke. You love Ianite, he is your god."said Sonja
"She is no longer his, now her and I are one. I would advise you not to get in out way, it might get messy" said the shadows
"We won't let you hurt the gods! If you want to do that, you have to go through us. Even you Jordan."
Sorry guys.
"Fine. Let this be a demonstration of what I can do." Jordan said as she pressed the button to detonate the explosives. She knew they would be to close to the blast, they would die. If anything it may just prove her loyalty even more.
Once they all exploded she saw the scales collapse into a million pieces, many flying all over the place. Worst of all, she saw her friends die, she had killed them.
"Impressive my dear. I have taken all your stuff to our base, you no longer need to stay with them. We will plan our next steps there, for now we will lay low there for a while. Shall we go?"he asked as he handed her his hand.
"Lets get out of here." She said as she took it. They teleported back to the secret hide out where she would be living now.
Her friends surely hated her right now. They had good stuff on them that they would never be able to recover... this sucked.
"Welcome home. I'm glad we will be living together for now, it's best that you no longer hang around them, they are too brainwashed by their gods. All that I need is you, and here you will be safe from their recklessness."
"I agree. If they stand in our way, i will deal with them my lord. I hope that destroying of the scales was as satisfying to you as it was to me."
"It will definitely send a message. You have gained my absolute trust. Not only have you denied Ianite, but you have sided against your old companions. Soon we will end the gods, I promise"
"Anyways...where will I be sleeping?"
"The bedroom is on the second door to the right, you may chose which of the two beds you want. As a god I don't need to sleep, but I have a bed in there just in case. Feel free to make yourself at home. For now I'll make us some lunch, we can go have a picnic later."
"Sounds like a..great idea. I'll go settle down then" she said
This was bad! She was sharing a secret home with a destructive god, her friends hated her, and she had no way to get out if this. All that was important for now was to keep the act, not just for the plan, but for her own safety now...

Blood Quest - A LitRPG
Leon's family has been diagnosed with a new type of incurable blood disease. It's an absolute death sentence and when it turns aggressive, you only have a few more years of painful life left to live. His mother has just begun the last years of the disease when a person supposedly comes back from death with supernatural abilities. He talks about a choice you get after death--get an extra chance to come back to life, or die. Even with Leon's diminishing life span, he won't consider the option of going there, until he meets another survivor who had the same goal as him and succeeded. Leon has a choice to make—die now for a chance to save his mother, or die in a few years, where the disease rapidly melts his muscles from his own body. He enters a game-like world, a sort of limbo, where his ultimate goal is to climb the tower of Katastroph before his mother's time runs out. There are a few problems with this though. The tower is almost impossible to beat, if you die you won't revive, and only three people in over twenty years have actually made it back. Leon has two years to climb the tower, with the help of the few people willing to try, while Ai, the tutorial guide, makes things harder for them. ***** The story starts pretty dark but goes onto a lighter tone. Then (more) dark again. Disclaimer: This story is an experimental project and I hope to get any and all feedback you can give me. Warning: First draft. Chapters tend to be between 3400-4100 words long (about 8-11 A4-pages). Mentioning it since I've seen it in other fictions :P Sometimes they're shorter, sometimes they're longer. ******************************** CHAPTER RELEASES UPDATE: As the first "book" in the series is done, I'm going to release coming chapters somewhat sporadically, and when Writathon ends, I'll probably go back to publishing one chapter per weekend. We'll just have to wait and see! I hope you enjoy the story! I really appreciate all comments and feedback, so if you have anything to say, feel free to voice it :) ************ [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
