Guess what time it is!

That's right, it's time for another pair of author interviews. So instead of rambling on like how we usually do, let's get right to it!

Wrestling team captains Max Desera and Axel Cortés must settle their long-standing rivalry - but a different kind of fire may ignite between them.

*****

The school decides it will only keep one of its two male wrestling teams, adding fire to the cutthroat rivalry between the two captains, Max Desera and Axel Cortés. Axel sees Max as undeserving of the title, but when Max, who is proudly bisexual, finds out that Axel is closeted gay, their dynamics begin to change. Things heat up before the tournament when a terrible incident of foul play occurs, forcing the two sworn enemies to suddenly rely on each other - but this time, the heat feels different.

Author of Fighting Fire With Fire, Extra Ordinary, Better Sorry than Safe and more!

Wattpad Star Paid Stories Author

I wanted to join NanoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month in November), and I already knew I wanted to do an enemies to friends to lovers dynamic. I decided to make the protagonists rivals, and because I had never read any stories about wrestling on Wattpad, I decided to make them wrestlers.

Initially, I wanted to keep the storyline and characters simple because, as I said, this was going to be a NanoWriMo book and I was supposed to write it fast. But the further I got into the writing process, the more Max and Axel started leading lives of their own. I became more invested in this book than I ever thought I would be and eventually that led to a sequel.

I research until I feel ready to write the book. For some books it takes more time, for others less. Sometimes, I already know a lot about the topic, but that wasn't the case for Fighting Fire with Fire. I knew squat about wrestling, so spread out over two weeks I studied wrestling moves and jargon, and I watched high school and college wrestling tournaments on Youtube. Some of it I researched while I was already writing the book.

I discovered Wattpad through a random Google search! Stumbled on a lesbian book between an outcast main character and the most popular girl love interest (I wish I remembered the title!). I joined very shortly after that, because I'd been looking for a platform where I could share my work. Wattpad seemed like an excellent fit, because it was immediately clear to me lgbtq+ books are very welcome on the site. :) One of my favourite experiences has to be finally finding the courage to share my work, and getting an overwhelmingly positive reaction. I absolutely love reading comments, and how close the author and the reader are to each other on Wattpad. That's something I really missed while writing in isolation, and it motivates me to write more. I'm also happy that I met my writing friends on this website. They're awesome!

I'd love to have a cup of coffee with , , and . Some of my writing friends I've already met but, unfortunately, these three live a little further away. I'd love to meet them someday and have coffee together!

I work out every day (weight lifting and running), and I enjoy playing video games and board games. I mostly enjoy strategic RPGs, and Dungeons and Dragons with friends. I work in IT, but I have a love-hate relationship with it, haha.

I identify as bisexual.

I was hoping you'd ask! I'm currently working on a lesbian story between a prom queen and a girl who wants to become the prom queen. Lots of tension and conflicting feelings in there. ;D

And for all the people who enjoyed Fighting Fire with Fire, you're in for a treat this Pride Month! I've started up a new sports-themed book, this time starring cheerleader Timothy and gymnast Emil who definitely don't like each other at first, but that's bound to change when they end up on the same cheer squad.

The best advice I've ever received is: allow yourself to suck, especially when writing the first draft. Don't worry about making that first chapter or even that first sentence perfect from the get-go, just write your book and finish it. Nothing is etched in stone. You can always come back and edit, but you can't edit an empty page.

Only three?! My favorite songs tend to change weekly so this is hard. Okay, I'd choose one of those piano music three-hour-long ambiance medleys for concentrating. I'm also gonna say Work B*tch by Britney Spears because there's nothing like Britney Spears telling you to keep going during a workout. Third, Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson. I think that song has a message I really believe in: if you want things to be different/better, start with changing your own ways.

Absolutely! I enjoy works by , , , and . These authors all write stories with lgbtq+ characters, so definitely check them out!
