《Persona 6 (Fan-Made) [STOPPED]》Chapter 6: Enki

Night Time, Yokohama Chinatown.....
"Well, we're here." Kaidou puts his arm to his waist, sweating a bit.
"Nervous? You can run if you're scared, thief." A small snake came out from my hood, mocking sweating Kaidou.
"I-I'm not! I'll be fine, its to prove myself for the Phantom Thieves!" Kaidou was getting pumped. I was a bit worried for him since it's our second time we're going to the 'Lost Eden' and it's going to be his first time to summon a persona.
"Worried?" Enki noticed me, looking at Kaidou with worried eyes.
"... Yeah," I said.
"Don't be, it'll be fine. That bafoon wouldn't die anyway... I think." Enki tried reassuring me.
"Yeah, true." I smiled.
"What are you waiting for? Its almost 12:00 pm." Kaidou was getting impatient.
"Alright go to an alleyway," Enki ordered. We then ran to the nearest alleyway, that was not visible to crowds or the police.
"Now take out your syringes and be ready." We took out our modified syringes that were used to summon our personas. As we wait till the clock hits 12, my mind goes back to two days ago.......
---------------------------------------------------------
Two Days Ago, School.......
It was lunchtime, we were about to meet with Enki, a snake that saved us when we're at that place. We headed to rooftop, where most students-well no students are allowed to the roof, so Kaidou had a duplicate key for the rooftop door.
"Why do you have such a thing?" I asked the hooded Kaidou.
"Hmm? Oh, you mean the key? Yeah, it's just for emergencies... Or a nice place to eat." Kaidou said as he puts his arms in his pockets.
"You eat by yourself?" I asked.
"Yeah, its because I steal and trade other people's stuff they in the end just brush me off and ignore me, sometimes I get into fights." Kaidou just smiled while talking about it.
"Eh? Getting into fights but..." I looked at him, head to toe. He doesn't look like a person who could fight. It seems like he would lack experience in fighting.
"Yeah, I'm really weak. So at times, I compromise with them. If that doesn't work, I then run away using a planned detailed escape. No one knows where I live. And if that doesn't work..... Well, you know." Kaidou had a sad expression on his face. I would say its best if I leave it alone.
"But I've been getting better... Or is it worse? Well whatever, right now we're looking at something that could change our lives!" He shouted right in the hallway, most of the students stared at us, some murmuring. I just sighed.

"... L-Let's hurry." He said, blushing. When we arrived at the rooftop, we saw a small snake curled up. Waiting. We then walked towards it.
"... Enki?" I said to the sleeping snake. It then lunged at me, making us both jump. We both fell on the floor.
"Hahaha... Sorry." The snake then laughed at us. We got up and Kaidou wasn't pleased with the joke.
"Don't scare us like that," Kaidou whined.
"What? Are you a coward? I was just playing around." Enki slithered. Kaidou was getting angry so I then talked.
"Um... What did you need us for?" I asked, trying to ignore Kaidou's anger.
"Right... Sit down." He said. We sat down and put down our food as well.
"Well then, let's start with introductions first," Enki said.
"I'm Enki, a snake if that's what you human calls us, and a blacksmith. Nice to meet you." Enki said. Kaidou then leaned towards me, whispering to my ear.
"Should we trust him?" Kaidou whispered. I ignored him and started my introduction.
"I'm Ryu Himuro, a second-year in Seikawa High." I bowed my head.
"Ah, you just ignored me!? What the hell!" Kaidou was pissed.
"Come on you bafoon, just introduce yourself." Enki provoked him.
"Yeah, you're wasting our time here." I also provoked him.
"Ah, fine." He sighed.
"The name is Kaidou Sonezaki, also a second year in Seikawa High." He bowed his head.
"It's nice to meet you two!" Said the cheerful snake.
"Likewise. Anyway, what did you want us to talk about?" I asked. Enki then looked serious, though I don't know how a snake looks serious I felt some kind of aura.
"It's about yesterday," Enki said slowly. We gulped.
"W-What about it?" Kaidou stuttered.
"... It was a first for a human to get out of there safely, moreover for someone to achieve power, that is called persona," Enki told us. We looked at each other, worried.
"You must have questions about that right?" Enki asked.
"Yes, what was that place?" I asked my first question.
"That place is called the 'Lost Eden'. Its, in its name, an Eden for lost souls or unloved souls. It's not a place where humans go, willingly. There are those who search for a place for comfort, to grieve, to get out of reality. That's what the 'Lost Eden' is. It's born by those who are lonely, unloved, despair." Enki explained further.
"Then, what are those things that we fought?" Kaidou asked.

"Those are called Shadows. They are the lower psyche of the human heart, suppressed thoughts that are given physical form. It may look different at times, some may look like a human." Enki had a dry chuckle. Kaidou was sweating.
"... What about that power?" Kaidou asked. I have already known the answer to that so I kept quiet.
"The power he used is called Persona, its a manifestation of your psyche. They are called Persona-users, they are able to tame Shadows." Enki explained all of Kaidou's questions.
"I-I see...." Kaidou said, confused.
"Take your time, but it seems like Ryu here already understood everything." Enki noticed that I knew about most of the things. I then opened the plastic of my Yakisoba bread and ate it. I looked at Enki, who wanted to ask a question while Kaidou was still trying to piece everything together.
"Ryu, I have a question," Enki said.
"Yes?"
"Its the first I see someone summoning a persona with an artificial object. I only have seen someone summon one by tearing off a mask." Enki said.
"A mask?" Kaidou asked.
"Yeah, but I've never seen a man-made summoner." Enki moved closer. I took out the persona syringe, which I bought with me to school.
"Why did you bring it?" Kaidou asked.
"Intuition, I guess?" I answered.
"... Right." While we were talking, Enki was observing the syringe.
"Woah, I never knew such a machine is able to be created by humans." Enki was intrigued.
"Hey, snake-eyes. You think I can get this power too?" Kaidou asked the intrigued snake.
"Hmm? Yeah sure, though I don't understand why." Enki was a bit confused about Kaidou's decision.
"It's just that... What we discussed just now was something really important, especially this 'Lost Eden'." Kaidou was trying to find a reason.
"You want a way to destroy the place?" Enki asked, uninterested.
"Yeah, basically... It's just-"
"Why, you should leave it be." Enki just ignored Kaidou.
"Huh!? What do you mean by leave it be?" Kaidou looked at Enki, questioning him. I also looked at him.
"I mean, isn't better for that to happen? I mean you get rid of the trash in the world so that there is space for those who are-!" Enki was interrupted by Kaidou slamming the floor.
"That doesn't mean we should leave them be! They are still people and we can't just ignore that! Right, Ryu?" Kaidou then looked at me to support his argument.
"His right Enki. If you knew someone for so long and you see him in trouble, would you ignore him? And leave with that guilt for the rest of your life." I stood up.
"We now know about something that could be catastrophic to the people in this city and we have the power to stop that. It's normal for a human, no, for anybody to try to save them, even if they are trash." I finished my statement.
"... Haa, fine. I'll need to borrow this for at least a day, so I can make a duplicate," Enki said, taking the syringe with him. I looked at Kaidou and smiled.
"Yes! Thank you!" Kaidou said, excitedly.
"Anyway, do you have the pills I gave you?" Enki asked. The pills which he gave me right after he saved us. I nodded.
"Good. Every midnight, you will be transported to that place. Use the pill to get out." Enki said as slithers off.
"Right, but what are these pills-?" Kaidou turned to see the snake gone, also the syringe. The bell had also rung.
"Well then, we should get going," I said. As we walking back to class,
"Thank you," Kaidou said. I looked at him, confused.
"For what?"
"For helping me. It was the first someone else then Rei helped me." Kaidou smiled at me. We stopped right in front of the class.
"From now on, let's take care of each other back, partner." Kaidou raised his fist for a fist bump.
"Of course, partner." We fist-bumped.
...!?
Is this the social link Igor told me? I'll ignore it for now and We went into class and it began as usual.
---------------------------------------------------------
"Ryu, you ready?" Enki asked.
"Yeah, Kaidou?" I asked the enthusiastic boy.
"Always, partner."

Blood Quest - A LitRPG
Leon's family has been diagnosed with a new type of incurable blood disease. It's an absolute death sentence and when it turns aggressive, you only have a few more years of painful life left to live. His mother has just begun the last years of the disease when a person supposedly comes back from death with supernatural abilities. He talks about a choice you get after death--get an extra chance to come back to life, or die. Even with Leon's diminishing life span, he won't consider the option of going there, until he meets another survivor who had the same goal as him and succeeded. Leon has a choice to make—die now for a chance to save his mother, or die in a few years, where the disease rapidly melts his muscles from his own body. He enters a game-like world, a sort of limbo, where his ultimate goal is to climb the tower of Katastroph before his mother's time runs out. There are a few problems with this though. The tower is almost impossible to beat, if you die you won't revive, and only three people in over twenty years have actually made it back. Leon has two years to climb the tower, with the help of the few people willing to try, while Ai, the tutorial guide, makes things harder for them. ***** The story starts pretty dark but goes onto a lighter tone. Then (more) dark again. Disclaimer: This story is an experimental project and I hope to get any and all feedback you can give me. Warning: First draft. Chapters tend to be between 3400-4100 words long (about 8-11 A4-pages). Mentioning it since I've seen it in other fictions :P Sometimes they're shorter, sometimes they're longer. ******************************** CHAPTER RELEASES UPDATE: As the first "book" in the series is done, I'm going to release coming chapters somewhat sporadically, and when Writathon ends, I'll probably go back to publishing one chapter per weekend. We'll just have to wait and see! I hope you enjoy the story! I really appreciate all comments and feedback, so if you have anything to say, feel free to voice it :) ************ [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.

Cascadia
Corvayne, a warrior exiled from his desert village, ends up in the backwater colony city Cascadia. He meets a strange girl, jumps through a portal to another world, and starts a journey to protect her and discover the secrets and treasures waiting in the mysterious rifts they call 'Towers'. Along the way Corvayne will accumulate a rotating party of friends and misfits, journey into through dungeons full of dangers and loot, and learn to use a bevy of strange powers as he faces threats inside the mysterious 'Towers' and through the city of Cascadia, which hosts secrets of it's own, all while trying to unravel his tangled past. Updates: Mondays + Whenever I feel like it. ****************** This story features: -A cast who are mostly good friends and mostly good people, despite exploring weird and dangerous worlds. -A mix of dungeons, dragons, and exploring the pine scented city of Cascadia. -Very light LitRPG elements that slowly seep into the story. Learning the system is a challenge that takes the characters a long time. -A strange universe with a mix of both standard magic and powers that twist reality itself. Some wizards know how to cast fireball, but a few can curse someone to be lost for eons. -No explicit sex scenes. Warning is for implied sex scenes and some nudity. -Lots of blood, mostly monster blood. -A long planned story and long character arcs. I have the ending in mind as I write. -Single character PoV, with plans to add bonus chapters for other characters. [A winner of the Royal Road Writathon challenge.]
