《Maeve》Epilogue

After four years of all the chaos that took place in Dominic and Maeve's life, everything has finally settled.

Their son, Cearul, had grown to be a healthy little boy that had two loving parents. He was smart for his age and Maeve really did hope that someday he would use all of his wisdom to rule the kingdom with it.

Cato and Elena had a daughter that is now a small toddler that is clearly going to be a strong woman someday.

Ethen, on the other hand, was found in the same place where Cory had taken her own life. In the exact same position and a knife in his heart. Days after his body was found he was buried next to his mate so that they could finally be together.

Tommy gave birth to three little baby mice. You could only imagine the look that Maeve had on her face when she realized that Tommy was more like Tomisha. The human named the three mice as Tommy jr., Tulsi and Tris.

The meadow close to Maeve's childhood home was now the place where she took her son every month. At the first times, Dominic hadn't come along and a few guards had accompanied them until he finally agreed to come with them:

Maeve couldn't be any happier as she ran through the meadow. Still, after years the small meadow was still her favorite place in the entire world. To be able to see all the different flowers and the beauty of nature.

Although, Dominic wasn't as happy. He had to drag his son behind him as he was too tired to walk anymore. It also seemed like Cearul was enjoying the meadow as much as his father.

He watched as his mate was finally happy and for him, it was the first time he ever visited Sector Seven. The forest around the meadow had been burned down but you could see small trees growing from the ground.

The king put his son down from his shoulder to the ground. The child laughed of happiness when she started to run after his mother. Apparently, Dominic was wrong.

She went around the meadow and pointed at places that had been close to her when she was younger. You were even able to see her old house from there.

Maeve had always wanted to return to the meadow where only happy memories required. Now she was there with her son and the man she had grown in love with.

It is true that their relationship wasn't the best one and it will never be one because if she learned one thing since she left this place it is that there truly are no happy endings in the world they live in. There are only fairytales and life is not one.

"Was that your home?" Dominic asked and nodded towards the small old cabin far from them. Maeve nodded.

"So you want to go there?" He asked but Maeve shook her head. "There is another place I want to visit," she whispered and grabbed his big hand into her small one.

"Mommy?" Cearul said and put his hand on his mother's free hand. They walked into the burnt forest and listened to the sounds of nature until they reached the place Maeve had wanted to visit.

"You see that little cross over there?" She asked Dominic. He looked into her eyes and saw that they weren't filled with joy like they were before.

"Yes."

She went to her knees and took three flowers she had taken from the meadow from her pocket. "This is my mother Alison," she said and put one flower on the ground. "Here lays my sister Kathryn" another flower was put next to the other one "and here is my brother Noah".

Maeve had no idea where Will or Kiera was. Sophie had been taken after she died to be burnt with other plague victims.

Dominic didn't say anything. It was clear that the graves meant a lot to her and he wanted to say something but didn't know what.

He took her into his arms kissed her on the lips and whispered the words he had never said to anyone and never did he believe he would say them.

"I'm sorry."

The human smiled as a tear made its way to her cheek. "Me too."

The tear made Dominic's heart hurt. He kneeled in front of her and looked into her teary eyes. He didn't want to see her cry. It had taken a long time for him to realize that she was way too pure to see the evil in this world. "Please, don't cry."

Dominic looked straight into her eyes and she gave a little nod. She knew it was the time because after all, he was a werewolf. He put his mouth to her lower neck and pierced her skin with his canines.

That night they finished the mating bond making Maeve finally be the Queen of Werewolves. No one could ever disrespect her again and even if they wanted Dominic wouldn't allow anyone to do that.

A year from that they said the "I love you", to each other.

It had taken five years for them to learn to accept themselves and still, their life wasn't perfect because of the scars both of them carried along their journey but they managed to make their own happily ever after.
