《Maeve》ChapterTwentyThree: Defending Tommy

"What the fuck is that?"
Maeve froze. At first, she didn't even know someone was at the door but when she heard his voice it sends chills down her spine. The possessiveness that she heard on his voice was something she had never heard before. It felt like he would throw Tommy out of the window in the next few seconds. Of course, Maeve would throw herself from the window before losing another friend. She will always miss Cory but she can't and won't lose her mouse friend.
It felt like even Tommy froze, too. She wouldn't be surprised if he would have run away if she wasn't holding her.
"My f-friend." She whispered. Actually, she wanted to scream that into his face but that wouldn't end well for her and for Tommy. They would be both lying on the ground with broken necks. The king had a very short temper and no one should go against it.
"A gnawer? You should throw that thing to the cat's."
"Never." Maeve put Tommy closer to her chest and tried to calm him down. It was obvious that even though Tommy is a mouse he could sense danger in the room. Few weeks backward they saw each other when The King and Cato were trying to snap poor little Tommy's neck. She was able to save him then and hopefully, she can do it again.
"W-would you throw your f-frie..... Oh .....never mind," She forgot who she is talking to. He is a monster who executed his own cousin and if you believe in the rumors he has killed many more blood relatives. Maybe she should ask why he killed Caspian? Was it because he fed her properly and didn't let her starve with a piece of a molten bread? She turned to look straight into his eyes and decided that maybe it wasn't the best time for that.
He took a few steps forward and in a return, Maeve took few steps back. Her back was almost touching the wall. There was something in his aura that made Maeve feel like she should run to the hills. Unlucky for her that there was an angry alpha male blocking the exit.
"Give him to me."
Tommy froze in Maeve's hands and looked straight into her eyes. He was scared like he could understand what Dominic is saying. He didn't want to die, he was too young to die.
Maeve shook her head. Her mouth was as dry as a desert and even if she wanted to say something her body would betray her.
The last time he was in the same room as the mouse Tommy would have probably died if something urgent wouldn't have appeared in that moment. He wanted the mouse dead, you could see it in his eyes. How could someone hate an innocent mouse? He has done nothing to The King.
"I won't let you ki-kill him," She whispered. "If y-you throw Tommy to the cat's I'll t-throw myself to t-the wolves." Maeve is sure that the rogues that once tried to eat her wouldn't mind a little night snack. She stroked Tommy's torso and put her hand, in which the mouse was, in front of her small frame. Straight under Dominic's burning gaze.
"H-his name is Tommy," She wanted to hit her self with a wooden stick for allowing herself to be afraid of him. "I m-met him in the c-cell," She continued. "I split m-my food with him."

"I don't want to hear his life story," The King snarled. That little flea nest should be lying on a cat's feeding cup and not lay in the hands of his woman.
Maeve startled at his voice, but she didn't give up. "M-my best friend ran screaming away from him," Keep going, Maeve you can do this, "You a-almost snapped his neck with Cato." Her hands trembled so much that she was afraid that Tommy will fall to the ground and hurt himself. You need to calm down he will not hurt you. "He disappeared f-for last week and I cried after him, t-thinking about the worst. He was t-there when I needed someone to hug." She took one deep breath before finishing her story, "Everyone calls h-him with disgusting words acting like he doesn't own a soul. E-everyone glares at him all the time and t-try to squish him under their b-boots like he doesn't feel anything. Everyone want's him dead a-and don't even bother to grieve because he isn't l-like them. He is like me."
The human looked straight into the eyes of her mate. She expected that he would have looked concerned or even caring but he stared at her with the same murderous look as before.
A tear fell on her cheek. Maeve quickly wiped it away not wanting to look weak in front of him. But it didn't succeed so well as she believed. She has always been weak in his eyes and nothing will ever change that after all, she is only a human. But as a human, she is way braver than most of his counselors. She dared to speak to him.
"Throw that rat away."
"That is exactly what I meant! He is a living creature and not a trash you can throw away." Maeve started to see red. He doesn't understand her it is only a reminder that they are from different words. She loves nature and every living creature in it when he destroys it in every chance he gots, he doesn't care or love anything or anyone.
Dominic couldn't believe that they were fighting over a cat's lunch. It was clear that she was afraid of him but it didn't bother him. She should be, everyone's should be. He has done terrible things in his past and will keep doing them in his future.
The tray of food he had on his hands was laying on the ground but that wouldn't stop Maeve from eating it. She has been forced to eat a molten bread so a food that has once touched the ground won't shake her a lot. There was even a little slice of cheese that will warm Tommy's stomach.
"Without him, I w-would be dead," She whispered not knowing the reason why. Without the little mouse, she would have hung herself when she was still on the dungeon. Why should she live if she didn't have a reason for it? Now she has and the reason is on her hand.
She looked at him at it looked like he was thinking. His brows were wrinkled and his gaze was dozed on the mouse.
"Dominic?" She didn't know why but calling him by his name was so natural on her.
"Don't call me by that!" He snarled and something unfamiliar flashed in his eyes for a second.
"Isn't t-that your name?"

"It's none of your business!" He yelled and left the room slamming the door behind him.
"Well, that was o-odd," She mumbled tot he mouse who looked like a frozen statue. "D-do you want cheese?" She asked and went to sit on the floor next to the fallen tray. Every step she took hurt her but she was hungry and didn't like to waste food. She found a robe thrown over a bench and she put it on. It was a little big on her but it did the trick of covering her.
She gave the little piece of cheese to her little friend and started herself eat some fruits she didn't recognize. Her mother would be proud that she stood up for herself but something inside of she nagged her. She wanted a peace for her mind but her body didn't let that to happen. It wanted her to speak things clear with The King. So she ran after him leaving the little mouse to eat his cheese peacefully.
Dominic stormed straight into the room he knew he could find some of the strongest wine the castle had. When he reached the wine cellar and took one big gulp of one of his favorite wines his nagging asshole of a beta stormed in.
"I have been looking for you a long time."
"I was busy," he murmured and took another gulp. God, that he loved this wine.
"With the human? I can smell her on you," Cato snapped. He had an urgent thing to tell him but he decided to throw all of his responsibilities away and have fun with the human.
"You had something important to tell?"
"He sent a message." Dominic raised his right eyebrow.
"He wants the human."
Something inside of Dominic stirred. Why would he want the petite human girl? If he wants slaves or something there are easier ways to get one.
"Why?" He took a large sip of the wine. Now he really needs something to calm his nerves. Why couldn't Cato tell this to him tomorrow?
"The message didn't tell that, sir."
"How can we be sure that it is him then?"
"I recognize his handwriting from anywhere." Dominic wanted to break something. The last thing he needed tonight was a few little rebels trying to break his monarchy. He should have killed him when he got the chance, but no Dominic had to be so stupid and don't kill a person in his entire life. Now he has returned and wanted the only thing that someone could consider as his weakness. he wouldn't call her that, she is more like his wolves weakness and if someone would try to take him down you would first have to make his wolf beg for mercy.
"Do you have the message?" Cato nodded and gave him the wrinkled piece of paper. There was a small drop of blood next to the signature. It was a simple message that no one could be misunderstood but the question lured in his mind, why would someone want a weak human girl? You could walk into any villages that had humans in them and find a weak human girl. What is so special in his mate? Is it the fact that she is truly his soulmate as unfortunate as it is.
***
Maeve saw him disappearing into the stairs that led to the basement. She had always hated them and they give her goosebumps, who know what they held inside? As much as she hated the thought of going into the dark and moist floor she wanted to speak things right with him. She wanted to know where their relationship is right now?
"...I can smell her on you." She heard a familiar voice saying. What is the beta doing down there? Maeve cheeks felt a familiar blush creep on her cheeks.
She heard Dominic say something but couldn't hear the exact words he said, but she could hear that he wasn't in the best mood and hopefully, after they talk things straight his mood would become little better.
"...He wants the human." What? Maeve is almost one hundred percent sure that they were talking about her. But who would want her? Almost every person she has met in here have wanted to squish her with a giant boot. She doesn't even want to know what the person who wants her will do to her.
They continued talking but Maeve was too deep in her own thoughts to even try to listen to them. If the person who they are talking about and ask for her, would Dominic kick her out in the first few seconds? She can only wish that that is not the case.
She wanted to know more about the person who they are talking about so she started to creep down the stairs very carefully. Werewolves had better hearing and if Cato could smell her in The King he probably could smell her from the stairs if she attracted attention. She didn't even want to think about would happen if they caught her eavesdropping. The curiosity won the internal battle in her brain and she continued to go lower down in the stairs.
***
Two werewolves that left their pack a few years ago were running in their wolf forms. They had an important message to their leader. Unlucky for them the camp had just transformed a place because of security problems. When they finally found the right place they shifted to their human form and went to find him.
"Elena, have you seen Harred?" The young brunette winced and shook her head. She didn't like to talk to strangers although she had seen the two men before they never had talked to her. It was a huge surprise that they even knew her name.
Many men had wanted to marry her but her uncle is way overprotective to let his niece marry a rascal with only one thing in mind. Her rosy cheeks and freckles made her look unique in her own kind of way. There was even a rumor that Harred wanted to marry her, but that was only a rumor because Harred has a beautiful mate.
The two men continued their journey before they found what they were looking for.
"What do you two fools want?" He snarled. He has had the worst few months because her mate died with his family, now he was all alone in the dark world.
The men looked at each other before the shorter one took a step forward and said the words that changed Harred's world forever, "We have located your daughter."

The Apocalypse Show - Dungeon Core
There were lot's of ways that people had predicted that the world would end. A few even had it partially correct. But how could they have predicted it would be a combination of the system apocalypse and aliens. Specifially aliens that wanted to create the equivlant of a TV show about the system apocalypse on Earth. Arthur woke up with a headache and the option to create a character. Most people would have gone with the safe choice and selected to stay a human. Arthur suspected that wouldn't be the safe choice in his new world. Instead he decided to see what other races were available. Eventually he decided to become a dungeon core instead. Of course being a dungeon core comes with a number of challenges. Starting with the fact that he was a giant crystal instead of having a body, managing a bunch of unintelligent minons, and most importantly the reaction of his human neighbors when they discover him. If he can overcome these challenges he may be able to enjoy some of the benefits. Such as the fact that dungeon cores are immortal and he would eventually have an entire army of dungeon minions that would obey any of his commands. Perhaps even find some female companions that are looking for a safe place during the apocalypse. Warning: If this fiction was a movie I'd rate it R for occasional scenes of violence, gore, nudity, and sexual content. This isn't something you would find in the young adult section. This does not mean that this would be rated NC-17 or X, if that is what you are looking for try lewd dungeon.
