POV Dayanara.

The mall was still in Alexander's territory. Unlike the school, which was on no man's land.

After two hours at the mall, Alexander was already carrying three bags on each arm. Suddenly a weird, filthy smell entered my nostrils. Even though I couldn't shift, I still got heightened senses.

"Rogues." Alexander growled. He pulled me to the side. "Stay here, I'm going to get the guards." He walked off after putting the shopping bags beside me.

"What's a pretty thing like you doing all alone?" A voice asked and I turned around.

"I'm not alone." I told the guy. He seemed around my age and he had blue eyes. The other three were maybe two or three years older.

"Would you look at that?" The blonde smirked, his gaze lowered to my neck. "We hit the jackpot. It's the Alpha's mate." I pulled a confused face.

"I'm not his mate, I can't even shift." I frowned.

"Then why are you wearing his necklace?" The brunette questioned, he seemed young, almost innocent.

"Why are you trespassing?!" Alexander's voice snapped behind me. His arm snaked around my waist and pulled me behind him.

"We didn't know, we're just passing through." The oldest said.

"Looks like you're staying." Alexander smirked. "Take them to the dungeon." He looked at them thoughtfully. "Except for that one," he pointed to the brunette. "He may go but he'll be escorted out of my land."

~~~
Alexander carried my bags to my room and set them next to my bed. "Alexander?"
"Yes, tesoro?" He replied, turning to face me.
"The rogues said that I'm your mate after they saw the necklace." I stated. "Why?"
"Every Alpha family has a type of stone on a necklace, they'll give it to their mate after they found her. The stone in my family is a Ruby and I had it made for my mate." He explained. "You may have seen your mother wearing one."
"She always wore an Emerald." I nodded. "But why did you give it to me?" I said confused, I was pretty sure I didn't have a mate.
"I gave it to you as protection. You need to wear it until you're officially a member of my pack." He instructed. "That way everyone will know not to harm you."
"Alright, I guess." I nodded.
~A few days later~
These past few day have been great. Dayanara's tan skin got its glow back, making her look healthier because she is not pale. She also gained a few pounds, bringing her to a healthy weight.
I love the way her eyes sparkle when she talks about something she loves. The wounds her uncle caused were healing quicker but I was still keeping her eye on her. Thinking about her like that made me want to see my mate.
So I walked out of my bedroom and followed her scent, which let me to the kitchen. "Hey." I backhugged her.
"Hello to you too." She smiled and turned in my arms.
"Uhm, why are you doing that?" I asked when her canines started to grow.
"I don't know what's happening." She panicked as she watched her claws appear.
"It's okay, calm down." I took her hands in mine. "Just imagine that your normal hands are in my hands."
"Thank you." She sighed when her claws and fangs were gone.
'Why did she suddenly change?' I questioned. 'She can't shift.'
'Maybe her wolf is waking up because she senses her mate.' Angelo suggested.
"Try it again." I said, she nodded and closed her eyes. Slowly her fangs appeared but she didn't shift completely. "Maybe you'll be able to shift into a wolf after practice."
"I hope so." She grinned excited.
"I have to handle some business with Gabe and Theo. I'll be gone for four hours tops." I informed. "I'll sent my Delta, the headwarrior, here."
"He's gonna babysit me." She raised her eyebrow.
"I guess you could see it like that." I nodded.
"Alright, I'm going to take a shower then." She smiled. "Don't forget that we have school tomorrow."
"I know." I smiled. "Keep practicing that shift and stay in my room! Not your own." I instructed. "Bye." I hugged her before calling out to Gabe and Theo. Once they arrived, we left.
I put on the clothes that I took with me to Alexander's bathroom. My outfit consisted of white jeans with Alexander's baby blue hoodie.
I really didn't think he's the kind of guy to have baby blue in his closet. I just hoped he didn't mind me snooping around in his closet.
I sighed as focused on my hands. I imagined them to grow my claws. It didn't work and I groaned in disappointment.
I stepped out of the bathroom and noticed the Delta sitting on Alexander's couch. "Jonathan!?" I gasped and his head snapped up.
"Dayanara?!" He exclaimed, jumping up and came towards me. He leaned in to hug me but I stepped back. "What's wrong?" He asked confused.
"I thought you were dead." I whispered and he chuckled. "I don't see what's funny." I frowned.
"I found my mate in this pack." He smiled.
"You didn't even look for me?! Do you have any idea what I've been through?!" I yelled. "What you could've prevented!?"
"You didn't look for me either!" He shouted.
"I thought you were dead! Killed in one of the rogue attacks!" I argued as tears started to stream down my face. "You knew I was alive! Everyone knew the Alpha's daughter survived! You just didn't care, did you!?"
"Of course I care!" He roared. "What was I supposed to do?! March up to you say that I found my mate and I'm leaving the pack!"
"That would've been better than making me grief for you and leaving me behind with some stranger!" I screamed. Jonathan let out a loud growl and threw the lamp on Alexander's nightstand against the wall. "Get out!" I whispered.
"Don't disrespect me!" Jonathan snarled as his eyes turned black.
"Get away from me!" I screeched and he dashed out the door. I paced while holding my head in my hands as tears streamed down my face.
~Three hours later~
I ran up the stairs, excited to see my mate. I growled slightly to myself when I noticed that Jonathan wasn't guarding the door. I hoped for him that he was inside and stormed in. The room was empty, there was no sign of my Delta or my mate.
I focused my hearing and my sense of smell when I heard a slow heartbeat and calm breathing. I followed Dayanara's scent and it led me to my desk. I kneeled down and spotted Dayanara asleep underneath my desk with tear stains on her cheeks.
'Jonathan get your ass up to my room, this instant!' I roared in the mind link. I picked up my little mate and sat down on the couch, cradling her in my arms.
"Stay!" I growled when he entered the room. "Why was Dayanara left unguarded?! More importantly, why did she cry?!"
My mate stirred slightly and I placed her on the couch. I grabbed Jonathan by his neck and slammed him against the wall. "I'm not going to ask again!" I snarled.
"We got in a fight." Dayanara stood up and I snapped my head to her. "He threw the lamp and I kicked him out." My grip tightened when she mentioned him throwing my lamp.
"She disrespected me!" Jonathen gasped because of the lack of oxygen.
"She is an Alpha, by any means you disrespected her!" I growled. 'She is your Luna!' I snapped through the mind link and his eyes widened. 'Even if she wasn't, she is an Alpha's daughter.'
"He's my cousin." Dayanara wrapped her hand around my wrist and sparks erupted, making me loosen my grip.
"Cousin or not, he shouldn't put you in any danger." I let go of him. "And where is the Ruby?" I turned to her. I waved my hand dismissively and Jonathan rushed out.
"I- I just showered and I didn't want to loose it so I took it off. And- And it's in my room on the desk." She stammered. "But I also grabbed this hoodie from your closet, I'll give it back as soon as possible. No now! I'll go change."
"It's alright." I took a deep breath, then I noticed that she wasn't meeting my eyes. "Are you, afraid of me?" Hurt was clear in my voice.
"No, I mean..." I cut her off.
"You are." I took a step back.
"No, I'm not." She came closer, holding my hand in hers. "I'm not! It's just the things that people say about you. I never see you like that but when I do, it's weird."
"You are scared of me." I denied as stepped back again. Hurt that my mate was afraid of me.
"No." She shook her head and wrapped her arms around my waist while leaning her head on my shoulder. "If I was I wouldn't dare to do this to you, the most feared Alpha. If I was I wouldn't have moved in here. I'm not afraid because I know you won't ever intentionally hurt me."
"I believe you." I sighed and pulled her closer, burying my head in her neck.
"Are you free now?" She chirped as I pulled back a little. I still had paperwork to do but the grin on her face made me forget all about it.
"I'm all yours." I smiled.
"I haven't been able to shift again." She pouted as she sat on my bed. "I've tried twice."
"Maybe you didn't try hard enough?" I asked, taking a hold of her hand. Eventhough I knew it was probably because I wasn't around. "Try again."
She exhaled and closed her eyes. Her canines were growing and her claws appeared. I glowed with pride as I watched her. "What? Why didn't it work earlier?!" She whined.
'Because I wasn't with you.' I thought. "Maybe because you were too distracted." I shrugged. "Anyhow, tell me about you and Jonathan." I laid down on the bed, motioning for her to join me.
"He is my cousin, he found his mate here and I thought he died in one of the rogue attacks." She yawned.
"You should take a nap." I whispered softly, tucking her hair behind her ear. She nodded and closed her eyes. It didn't take long before she dozed off.
I admired her and then she started moving around. On instinct, I pulled her towards me and she rested her head on my chest. I breathed out in delight and felt my eyes het heavier.
