"Brendon, you never told me how you two met," Grace says, during lunch and Dallon immediately feels his cheeks go red.

He just looks at his plate, while Brendon starts talking.

"Well, I told you how I had that internship at a software company, right?"

Grace nods and takes a sip of her tea.

"Well, they treated me like their assistant and at one point I had to bring coffee, during meetings. During one of those meetings, Dallon and I first saw each other and he asked me on a date. We went on a few dates and then we decided to make it official," Brendon says and Dallon smiles a little.

Brendon grabs his hand, under the table and smiles at his boyfriend.

"You guys seem so happy together. I'm really happy you found each other," Grace says and she smiles.

"I've been a little worried about you moving to New York on your own from time to time, but it's good that you've found someone you really love, now."

Brendon smiles even more and Dallon just blushes a lot.

"I'm very glad Brendon and I met because he made me realize that work isn't the most important thing in the world," he says and Brendon squeezes his hand softly.

"I love you," he mumbles, smiling at his boyfriend, who smiles back at him.

"I love you too," he answers before he takes a sip of his coffee.

After lunch, Dallon goes to his office again, to call the legal department of his company, but he just decides that it's not really worth bothering. This was probably gonna be over sooner if he just let it slide and didn't pay any attention to it.

He'd just ask Brendon if he wanted to come along to a benefit gala that he had, next week so he could show everyone that he had a boyfriend who he really, really loved.

He just works for a while, just calling a few business associates and answering some emails.

After that, he just walks back into the living room and sits down next to Brendon, listening to the conversation.

"Why didn't Ciara come along?" Brendon asks his parents and his mom frowns a little.

"She's managing the restaurant. She said she'll come by for a few days, somewhere next month, if you wanted that." "Oh, that's great! I'd love to see her again because it's been a while." "Yeah, it has been. We've all missed you, at home."

Brendon smiles sadly and he looks at his lap, making Dallon frown a little.

He decides to not say anything about it, though because this was clearly a family matter that Dallon knew nothing about.

"Well, it's not like you guys really tried to visit me, or something," Brendon says and Dallon gets up.

"Anyone want something to drink?" He asks.

"I'd like some coffee," Boyd says and Grace nods.

"Me too," she says and Dallon nods.

"Great. Babe, do you want anything?" Dallon asks, looking at Brendon with a soft smile and Brendon just gets up too.

"I'll help you," he says, sounding a little bitter and he walks into the kitchen, with Dallon right behind him.

"Hey, baby..." Dallon mumbles and he leans against the kitchen counter, pulling Brendon closer to him on his hips.

"Try to stay calm, baby. Your parents don't mean it in a bad way," he says before he kisses his boyfriend softly.

"I know, but I don't like the fact that they make everything seem like my fault. They have more money than I have and still, it's my fault for not visiting them when they literally could've visited me!" Brendon says and Dallon just pulls him into a hug.

"I know, honey. It's not fair, but I don't think that starting a fight about it is gonna work, okay?" Dallon asks in a soft voice and Brendon just nods, resting his head on Dallon's chest for a few seconds.

"They're usually really nice, though. We usually never argue and stuff." "I get it, baby. You just haven't seen each other in a while and knowing that your parents could've visited you earlier, must kinda suck," Dallon says and Brendon nods.

"I shouldn't get so annoyed at them, though. Thanks for ending that conversation before it turned into a full-on fight. Because I think it would've if you hadn't intervened."

Dallon just smiles and nods.

"Of course, honey. Now, let's make some coffee." "Yeah, let's do that. Do you want coffee too?" Brendon asks, taking a deep breath and relaxing again.

"No, thank you, babe," Dallon answers and he lets go of Brendon, as the shorter man walks over to the coffee maker and he smiles a little.

"I love you," he says, out of nowhere and Brendon giggles a little.

"I love you too, baby," he answers and he kisses Dallon's cheek softly before he steps back again and smiles at his boyfriend.

"I really, really do," he adds and Dallon smiles even more.

"I really, really do too, baby."
