The sky was dark and gloomy, with grey clouds covering it like a blanket, and not even a peak of blue could be seen from within. The downpour had already begun, everyone on the streets bracing themselves against the heavy shower, a coldness and chill in the air.

As the raindrops fell furiously, they were managing to hide Mia's tears, which similar to the rain, did not seem to be keen on stopping.

The weather looked like it matched Mia's mood, as she walked out the office and into the rain, unknown to where she was going or even where she wanted to go, only knowing she wanted to leave.

In her rushed state, Mia hadn't even grabbed her coat, bag or phone. The rain was soaking her from head to toe. Her hair was stuck to the face, the blouse she wore clung to her body, and since she hadn't changed from her heels, her feet were also getting wet. She could barely make out the path she walked on, with the raindrops over the lens of her glasses.

However, Mia didn't care about all that, not when she felt heartbroken.

The one person she really needed, had let her down.

Angry and dejected, Mia walked through the rain, not caring about the way people on the street stared at her, clearly confused by her state.

She carried on walking, even when she heard a familiar voice call out her name.

"Mia!" Sebastian shouted, as soon as he spotted her walking through the rain.

He knew how much she hated the rain, yet here she was, walking through it without an umbrella. Not even a coat to keep her warm.

'She must be livid,' he thought worriedly.

Sebastian ran from where he stood, in his attempt to catch up to her. He knew that she'd heard him call out her name, from the way that she stiffened, but then ignored it and carried on.

He saw that she still wore her heels, and worried that she'd slip in the rain.

"Mia, please!" He shouted once more, as other people looked at him like he was a crazed fool, and in reality he was just that, a crazed fool, for ever letting her walk out the door without stopping her.

"Mia, God dammit! Please! Listen to me!" Sebastian pleased, completely drenched in rain himself.

He'd ran out the office without his blazer, his white shirt clung to his upper body and his tie flailing about in the wind. He looked a mess, but didn't care. Not when she was in the same state.

"No," Mia then said, without even stopping in her steps.

For a moment Sebastian was left a little shocked.

He just wanted to hold her, wrap his arms around her, provide her with warmth against this cold. He wanted to hold her and tell her she was mistaken, but he knew he couldn't do that, not yet at least.

Instead, he followed her, knowing it was the only thing he could do.

"I can't do this," Mia said in a broken voice, choking through her tears. "You still believe it, don't you? After everything, you still believe it," she stated, remembering the way that he looked at her, the way that he stayed silent.

He shook his head, despite knowing that she couldn't see him, or rather, wouldn't turn to see him.

"Please, just listen?" He begged her.

Mia then turned around abruptly, which startled Sebastian, and he halted in his movement quickly, before he bumped into her.

Sebastian saw the broken expression on her face, and the tears that spilled from her now, red eyes, despite the rain doing a good job of washing her tears away.

He knew he was the cause of it and it pained him deeply.

"What? What would you say that's different?" Mia questioned him.

A crowd had begun to form around the pair curiously, as onlookers tried to figure what was happening. To them, it probably was just that, a dramatic scene, like something straight from a movie.

This wasn't the first time she'd been the centre of attention. It'd happened many times before, for her to even care now. Their thoughts and opinions didn't matter to her, she was just carried on looking at Sebastian.

He, however, was feeling slightly awkward to discuss their business in front of all these strangers.

"Can we please go somewhere?" Sebastian asked her, as he looked around to see everyone's eyes set on them.

"No," Mia shouted. "Every time I'm the one who is humiliated in public. Why? Why is it only me that gets insulted? Only me that people point fingers at?" She asked him.

Immediately, Sebastian was filled with guilt.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I didn't know," Sebastian apologised and took a step forward, but frowned when Mia took one back from him.

"I'm so tired of living in the past, Sebastian. I can't keep doing it," she said, her voice sounding almost defeated.

She hated how she was constantly made to feel like this, no matter how hard she tried to make herself feel stronger.

When he heard her words, it terrified Sebastian. He felt the panic surge within him. He never wanted to make her feel like this, especially when they were just in such a good place and happy.

He wasn't ready to let go of that happiness.

Not ready to let go of Mia.

"Please, Mia," he pleaded.

"Go home, Sebastian," Mia said, more tears falling from her eyes.

She never wanted to say this. She felt the happiest she ever was when she was with him, but Mia held her self-respect too high, to let it get crushed once again.

"Not without you. You're my home," Sebastian said, a silent tear slipping out his eye, which pained Mia, but she was too hurt.

She was ready to move away, until she heard him speak up again.

"Mia, I love you."

Sebastian had never expected to utter those words like this, in pouring rain, surrounded by strangers whilst they caused a scene. Not when the girl he loved, was heartbroken due to his own actions.

He known for a while now, that he'd fallen for her, long ago. He'd only realised just how much that was, when they first kissed each other, in the park. All those tugs at the strings within his chest, all the emotion, everything, it was because he loved her. He was in love with her.

The realisation had hit him a while ago and he wasn't entirely sure on what to do. Sebastian had never been in love before and this was completely new territory for him. He wasn't sure if it was too soon to be in love, or but he definitely felt the emotion ten-fold.

However, he knew that if he told Mia before, he'd probably scare her away. If he had doubts that it was too soon, then it was most likely way too soon for her.

He didn't want to say the words like this, so sudden, but as he saw her figure walking away from him, he needed to say those words. To let her know how he felt.

Mia was shocked by his confession. It was something she wanted to hear, but not like this, they only just got together. She didn't understand how he could love her so soon, and that insecure part of her didn't believe him, despite the look in his eyes being truthful and genuine.

"Don't. Please don't," Mia said, as her voice cracked and she took a step back.

Sebastian noticed her retreat and his expression fell. She didn't believe him, that was clear enough, and he didn't even blame her.

"You walked away," she said, as her lips quivered.

The image of him, just closing the door of his office whilst she looked at him, still playing in her mind.

"I fucked up, I know. It kills me to know I hurt you again. I deserve it all, your hatred, your anger, if you want to hit me and I won't even move away, but please, please don't leave me," he pleaded.

The overbearing guilt that he felt inside, was crushing him. He'd found home in a person, and now he couldn't let her leave. He'd be any empty shell without, and he couldn't do that.

Mia shook her head, she wanted to believe him, believe his words, but she just couldn't.

Sebastian could sense her hesitation, and so in the midst of the crowd and the rain, he got down on both his knees, right in front of her.

"I'm begging you. Please, don't leave me," he begged, staring at Mia intently.

"You don't trust me. You never did," Mia said, her hurt was evident in her voice.

"I was in shock," Sebastian then replied.

Instead of his words doing any good, it just fuelled Mia's anger further.

"I asked you if you believed me and you didn't say anything!" She yelled at him.

She was in disbelief. She couldn't believe that he was using the fact that he was shocked, as his defence for not saying anything. The video was of her, playing for all to see, shocked was how her state should've been, he wasn't allowed to use that as his defence.

Sebastian painfully nodded. "I didn't say anything. I admit it. I walked away. But it wasn't because I don't trust you, I swear it," he said, and Mia shook her head.

"You must've seen that I was on the phone? Right? I was calling someone to get rid of that video. Erase it. I hate that it's still out there and pains you, so I wanted to get rid of it. I swear to you. My timing is shit, I should've said something, I know. I'm an idiot, Mia. You know this. I promise you, I didn't think my actions would lead you to doubt me."

It had never even crossed his mind for a second, to not trust Mia. She had his complete trust. After working with her and getting to know her, Mia had come to understand that whatever had occurred during that prom, was not the truth. He was so badly mistaken at that time and had been the biggest idiot to ever believe Victoria or Tucker.

For Sebastian, the Mia he had grown to know was the truth.

"Do you believe me?" She then asked once again, echoing the same question she asked in the office, only this time Sebastian had an immediate answer for her.

"Yes," he said without hesitation. "I fucking love you, Mia. I've learnt so much about you and enough to know whatever that video was, it can't be real. It never was. Because that isn't you. It's not the girl I've come to love. You're my, Mia. You're beautiful, strong, caring and all things good. I was an absolute prick for ever thinking you would do something like that in the past and I'll regret it forever."

The crowd seemed to love his words, with some even tearing up at his confession of love for her.

"I don't want to get hurt," Mia said in a low whisper.

Sebastian heard this and finally stood up to move closer to her, and this time she didn't move away.

He gently removed her glasses, placing them in his pocket, before reaching forward to cup Mia's face. He raised it slightly, so that she was looking straight into his eyes and could see the promise within them, as he said the next words.

"I won't ever let you get hurt. I won't ever let anyone hurt you. Not even me," he told her.

Mia could see the determination in his eyes. He truly meant his words.

He trusted her. That's all she wanted from him. All that she needed to know.

She was already aware of how much he cared for her, he'd made that clear before. Elated. That's how she felt right now, to know, without her even having to tell him, that all that happened in the video wasn't true. He believed her! He knew her.

"I love you, Mia," Sebastian said, this time taking a few steps back from her and opening his arms up, confusing her until he spoke up. "I'm standing here in the pouring rain, in front of a load of strangers, and all I want, is for you to be in my arms."

She saw a smile, that gave her this warm fuzzy feeling inside, gracing his face, and it was all Mia needed to see, as she leapt into his awaiting embrace. Her arms looped around his neck, as Sebastian held her waist and pulled her flush against him.

"I'm so sorry, love," he mumbled into her ears, and all Mia could do was nod, nuzzling her face into the crook of his neck.

The crowd around them erupted in cheers at the sight of the embracing couple, like a scene out of a movie.

Hearing the cheers, Sebastian spun Mia around in his arms and her laughter filled the air.
