● "Two sounds are cursed in this world as well as in the Hereafter: the sound of the flute played [in celebration] for a bounty, and the twang [of string instruments played] during a calamity."

● "Music is a charm of adultery."

● "Three things harden the heart: listening to diversionary words (lahw), seeking [game] to hunt, and frequenting the sultan."

✦⋆· "Singing (or music) is one of the things that Allah, Mighty and Exalted, has threatened to requite with the Fire, and this is the purport of Allah's verse: "Among the people is he who buys diversionary words that he may lead [people] astray from Allah's way without any knowledge, and he takes it in derision."

According to the religious teachings, there are two kinds of pleasant music in Heaven: One is the music of the nature of the Heaven, like the song of the Heavenly birds, the sound of rivers and waterfalls, and the sound of tree leaves while dancing in the breeze. And the second one is the special song of the Heaven.

Prophet (saw) said, "Every year on the first day of Ramadan, the leaves in the Heaven move with the breeze and make such a beautiful sound no one has ever heard."

Once a man asked Prophet (saw) if there were winds in Heaven. "Yes, there are." He said, "Winds made of light. Whenever the people in Heaven wish, these winds blow on their faces and they become delighted and cheerful. Then the rivers flow, the trees sing, the birds cheer and everyone in the heavens can hear the cheerful song of the Heaven."

There is also mention of a tree with a beautiful music in Heaven. It is said that people, who deny the joy of impermissible music to themselves in this world, are rewarded with the music of this tree in the hereafther world.

Prophet (saw) said, "There is a tree in the Heaven, which worships Allah (swt) loudly. The voice of that tree is the most beautiful music ever."

Imam Reza (as) said, "Allah (swt) rewards people who keep away from the impermissible music in this world; He will command the wind to blow on a tree in Heaven. Then the tree makes the most beautiful music ever."

Imam Sadiq (as) said, "The music of Heaven contains the song of people and angels as well. When someone asked Prophet (saw) if there was music in Heaven or not, he said that there is a river in Heaven with heavenly maidens sitting by it singing, They sing in such a beautiful voice that no one has heard anything like it before."

Imam Ali (as) said, "You would have turned away from everything in this world, if you knew what was awaiting you in the Heaven; the beauties in its nature and the sound of the leaves close to the rivers will astonish you."

A psychologist had written in his book, that a child in his/her mother's womb gets used to their mother's sound of heartbeat.

They did a test.

The child is born and they begin crying. Until the mother cuddles the baby.

Then the baby gets calm.

And if you bring a fake mother for the child, they'll find out. They haven't opened their eyes yet but they'll find out.

Then they tried to do something, they recorded the mother's sound of heartbeat and played it for the child that was crying.

What happened?

The child became calm.

The thing is, this happens to most of you, when you are watching TV and a music comes up or radio suddenly plays it.

While most of you I know don't listen to music. Like when you are riding a taxi and unfortunately, the driver just turns on the music.

So, when they play the music, suddenly, you start to feel sick and feel angry. The singer is not swearing or anything. It's made well with rhythms and other things.

You know what the situation is?

During a time where you felt upset, you had listened to music. Just for once. Even for a few seconds.

The researchers shows that, it has effects.

Someone came to me once and said, 'I don't know why when I listen to this singer, I get stressed.'

I told him to go and find out in the past when you were listening to this singer what happened to you.

At first he said nothing much had happened but then he remembered something. He said, during the time that he wanted to get married. He went through a lot. His current wife's brothers used to beat him up whenever they saw him outside.

Then this man would go home and sit in a corner and with a fallen in love heart, listen to this singer's songs.

He is married now and has a child. He is also very close to his wife's brothers and hug each other all the time.

However, now that five to six years has passed since that incident, whenever he listens to this singer, he still gets stressed.

Let's explain this further...for better understanding.

Some children in the past used to have little chick pets. They would feed their birds food. So let's say, one of this children click their fingers whenever they want to feed the birds.

The birds would then gradually get used to this sound and whenever the child clicks their fingers even when they don't have any foods. The chicks would come running to them in hopes of food, because they are used to that sound.

However, let's say the child clicks their fingers and when the bird comes, they hit the bird's head instead of giving it food.

After a few repeats. The bird would then hate it. And whenever they click their fingers, the bird would just avoid them because it knows whenever I go to them, I just get beaten up.

So the previous dependence gets erased and gets replaced with this new one.

The music's dependency is the worst one. It's the one that doesn't have any rules.

You know what! Lets give an example, in real life situaion there are pigeons that some researches came and worked on them.

What did they do?

Because the eyes of the pigeon is much better at looking at things. Unlike us humans we can only see what's in front of us well. The pigeons can see better.

They taught these pigeons and were using them for relief and rescue purposes.

They make them dependent.

Like whenever you see the colour orange and poke the button with your beak, your gift will be a grain.

It's very simple.

They would take these pigeons with themselves to the helicopter. And when they see a victim in the sea. When they see the colour orange, they quickly press the button.

And when they press the button, the light in front of the pilot turns on. And they find out that around that area there is someone who needs help.

They didn't want the bird to find out the formula of this behaviour so they made it dependency.

You know what it means?

It means the rule was that whenever the bird pressed the button it would receive 2 grain seeds.

But once it pressed one button and they poured 1 kg of grain seeds in front of it.

And another time, it pressed the button 20 times, and they didn't give anything to it. And another time pressed it the button 3 times...

It means, this pigeon now, with its mind and capabilities couldn't figure out what the rule of this situation is.

You know what happened to it?!

Until the end of its life, it kept pressing the button. Constantly.

When it needed to eat food and drink water, it would do so.

Then quickly return and keep pressing the button with its beak. Like crazy, it was willing to do such a thing. It couldn't control itself.

These are all based on researches.

Then you better find out the meaning of the hadiths and what they were warning you about!

An example similar to this bird's situation that happens to humans is where?

Gambling!

That is why gambling is Haram.

What is the price of gambling?

Winning.

Winning that money that they bet on.

They can't figure it out.

They win once and lose two times. Win three times and lose ten times.

What is the outcome of these?

Like crazy, they have interest in doing gambling. They can't help it!

The holy Qur'an forbids gambling and declares it as Haram.

There have been people that while gambling, they have made a bet on their life, home and excuse me, their wife too. They can't help it.

Tell me what happens when you see your favourite food?

Drip, drip, your mouth waters. It's because whenever you ate this food, you enjoyed it and it was pleasant.

Can you stop yourself. No. It's the same for gambling.

Whenever you gamble a lot, you have more desire to do so. And you drown in these situation.

The effects of music is also a very strong dependency.

Everytime you listen to it, you keep wanting to listen more.

Thus it's important to start this instant, if anyone is dependent on music, to delete all the files and songs in their devices.

It might be difficult at first but then it gets easier as weeks passes by. One by one.

By the help of Allah, Inshallah, you will succeed in breaking these chains and coming out of its effects and instead of music, filling up your heart and mind with the holy Qur'an and not music.

There was this user I saw her comment, this girl who isn't Muslim by the way.

She wrote and shared her experience. She said that whenever she didn't listen to music, she felt happy and was busy with her works and life. It was all going well. But the moment, she began listening to music, she felt extremely bad and angry and suicidal.

She said, 'I Just felt everything crashing down on me and I wanted to end my life right there and then!'

There are reasons for why some things have been declared as Haram for us. Allah (swt) knows best, better than all of us. As you can see, the bad things happening to her by just listening to music.

It's not just about music, there are other matters that have been declared as Haram. For the good of humanity, their well-being, safety, and happiness.

Inshallah, by trust and faith in Allah (swt) and our own efforts, we'll be able to overcome any dependencies and addictions that are harmful and clearly stated as Haram for and for our own good.
