I've been doing a lot of thinking recently about LGBTQIAP+ stuff, and I started thinking about the PSHE lesson we had. We were talking about sexualities and genders (which the teacher knew nothing about by the way; I knew more than she did and I kept correcting her and goving definitions) and she said something like this:

Life has lots of boxes with different labels, and don't label yourself too soon, because its very hard to get out of one of those boxes and into another one.

Thinking about it, that is actually kind of rude. She's basically saying that you are too young to label yourself because you could be wrong. What about all the people who are sure? People can change their labels, even if it's difficult. Fighting through the difficulty is better than just listening to people who say it's hard to change your label.

My pansexual friend and I also made a list of all the sexualities and genders we could think of. She looked at the list and didn't know all of them. Then she said something along the lines of this:

Don't you think that that's too many words and descriptions? Back in the old days, people used to just love who they loved and that was it.

I hate to break it to you teacher, but that's not true. Throughout history, LGBTQIAP+ people have had to fight for rights, and we will always face hate and discrimination.
