I've always felt weird about Mia.

We met in Physics, during this group activity. I didn't have any friends, and neither did she. We were the loners who were forced to work together, and forced to sit together. One more stupid group project, and we were close friends.

We had everything in common. Everything. Tiger mom? Check. Perfect sibling who gets all the love? Check. Love of drawing? Check.

We couldn't spend time together because our parents didn't allow us.

I proposed that we do a roleplay, so that it was almost like spending time together.

And that's when it started, I guess.

I denied my sexuality at the time, saying that it was just a phase I was going through. (Never mind the fact that I had a sort of girlfriend last year.)

And besides, she had a crush.

Later in the year, she told me that she had another crush.

Briefly, I thought: "What if it's me?"

I dismissed the thought. A pretty, smart, funny, dorky, amazing girl liking me? Ridiculous.

The end of the year came so swiftly. I was going to another high school than her.

We went to a theme park, as an 8th grade celebration.

We held hands.

I should have told her. I should have kissed her in Hogsmeade, underneath the starry midnight.

It was the 17th day before the end of school.

I just needed to know who she loved, so that I could leave the school peacefully.

She decided to tell me in the library.

She blushed. Then, in the smallest, cutest voice, she said: "I like you."

My knees went weak. If I could have blushed, I would.

I said: "Me too."

I ran into the bathroom and screamed. The girl of my dreams loved me.

And then we realized that we had only 17 days left.

I resolved to be the best partner she would ever have.

I gave her crafts, I sung to her, I loved her so much. We put a year's worth of love in two weeks.

It was the last day of school, and we resolved to meet in a corner of the school. I was going to kiss her.

We weren't allowed to meet.

I haven't seen her since.
