My name is Casey, and I am a lesbian.

I love Sarah.

Wow, it feels amazing to say that.

I didn't know what it meant to be gay until the beginning/middle of 7th grade (I'm currently finishing up 8th grade).

I actually first heard it being used as an insult. (THAT'S NOT COOL BY THE WAY!!!) I also heard it on the news a lot around then too. I didn't understand.

What's the big deal?

I asked around school, the internet, at home, and payed more attention to the news. (First time for everything!) I became obsessed with anything and everything LGBTQ+. Everything. People, events, songs, stories. Everything.

And then I fell in love with Sarah, and everything changed.

"Am I gay? I've had crushes on boys, so maybe I'm bisexual. No, I never felt like this for those boys. Yeah, you're gay. I'm gay."

I told my friends I had a crush on a girl, and eventually told Sarah I liked her. I officially came out with a label for the first time to an old friend using Ally Hills' Coming Out - The Official Song. He was totally OK, and I learned his little brother was gay as well. I told my mom the next day

Sarah and I are not in a relationship, but I still have my fingers crossed.
