Izzy's Theater for the Mind Now Presents a (Very) Short Play Documenting the First Time She Came Out to Someone!

[THE SCENE: July 20something, 2015. It's way too late in the evening, but seeing that Izzy's best friend is in China for the summer he's undoubtedly up, so after nearly throwing up and trying (and failing) to find a comfortable position to sleep in, she decides that she has nothing to lose and picks up her phone]

Izzy: are you awake? i need to tell you something kind of important

[To her surprise, her friend texts back almost immediately]

Reece: yeah what's up

Izzy: promise me you won't tell anyone else this

Izzy: i'm telling you this because i trust you

Reece: ok of course

Izzy: ok

[She can't think of anything else to say to stall time, so as her heart does somersaults in her chest, her finger hovers over and then reluctantly presses the send button]

izzy: i think i'm a lesbian

[It takes Reece a few minutes to reply, and in this time Izzy swears to god that death is inevitable and coming for her very quickly]

Reece: ok

Reece: i got no one to tell anyways

[Reece sends two laughing emojis, and Izzy laughs to herself and sniffles]

Izzy: i know, but still

Izzy: thank you so much

Reece: love you

Reece: :) :)
