《Zyon: The Alpha Of The North》Chapter Thirteen

Approximately, ten pairs of eyes turn to look at us as Zyon and I walk into the room. Well Zyon walks. I'm dragged in. I instantly feel a little self-conscious, but Zyon's hand tightens around mine. I'm sure it's to make sure I don't run out of the room, but all the same, its reassuring. I clutch onto his hand a little harder myself, and he looks back at me, with surprise in his eyes, clearly not expecting that I would ever express that I needed his reassurance.
Collective voices are heard around the room. I just nod my head. I'm unsure of what to do with myself.
They stand around the room, with glances of champagne in their hands. I'm approached by the Beta's mate.
Zyon lets go of my hand, and I follow Violet to a corner of the room. We engage in a bit of small talk. When I feel Zyon is out of earshot, and deeply engaged with his Gamma in conversation, I turn to Violet.
The wheels are turning in my brain. I'm close to my pack, which means I could potentially escape from here and cross the boundary. I had to get a bit more information out of Violet but without alerting her to what I was trying to do.
I immediately stop her. If she asks her mate, Zyon will be alerted to what I'm doing.
I make the saddest expression, I can muster appear on my face. I see Violet's eyes instantly fill with sympathy.
Her eyes instantly light up at the idea of cheering me up. I feel a little bad for manipulating her like this, but I would do anything to get Yasmeen out of here and get an update on Daniel and Zarah.
I glance up at Zyon. He's engaged in small talk. As Violet and I stand up, his eyes instantly snap towards me. I instantly say.

Violet looks at me quizzically, not understanding why I just lied. She slowly but hesitatingly nods her head in confirmation towards Zyon though, and he just nods. Violet drags me out of the room,
I'm actually quite proud with how fast I was able to come up with that. She takes me across the building. I'm not able to focus much on the layout because we talk about the possessiveness of male high-ranking wolves, but she brings me into a larger study and I see a phone positioned on the table. A landline. I didn't know people were still using these, but I walk straight to it and punch in Zarah's number.
Violet's still in the room and she doesn't have any interntion of leaving so I know I have to make this quick.
I look up at Violet. Her eyes have instantly gone wide: she knows I've tricked her. She wastes no time, in running out of the room to go get Zyon. I know I only have a few seconds.
I hear her sniffle.
the phone is ripped out of my hand and Zyon stands right behind me. He practically has steam coming out of his ears. The phone is put, rather banged back down and the line goes dead. Violet is standing behind Zyon, and her mate next to her. She looks at me. I bet she feels betrayed, and I feel bad for tricking her, but again I owe her no loyalty.
Violet begins, but Zyon cuts her off.
At this, I let out a snarl. Zyon turns his head to mine. He tells Holden and Violet.
They exit the room, leaving Zyon and I standing there. My eyes scan the room for an exit. It's not smart to run at the moment. I have no game plan. He'd just catch me, so I just stand there. He walks towards me. He says.

He grabs my upper arm and starts dragging me down the stairs. I have a heavy feeling in the pit of my stomach. I have a feeling I'm not going to like what he's about to do. We descend the stairs until we reach a heavily guarded floor. They move aside to let Zyon and I pass, and then follow us down the hallway. I dig my heels into the ground, to try and get him to stop. The feeling in the pit of my stomach just gets heavier and heavier. We get to a room door, and Zyon throws open the door.
Inside the stone cold room, Yasmeen and her mate, Harvey, sit huddled in a corner. Zyon snaps his fingers and the guards storm into the room, grabbing Harvey. I know what's about to happen. I struggle, trying to get out of Zyon's grip, but he just holds me closer, bringing my body in front of his. My back touches his chest. He wraps an arm around my waist, and rests his head on my shoulder.
The guards drag Harvey out of the room, and into an adjoining one. Yasmeen and I struggle to get to him, but it doesn't work. I kick, scream and cry hysterically but Zyon doesn't care. My screaming and cries are nothing compared to the ones coming from Harvey. I can't let them suffer because of me. Fifteen minutes later, Harvey's screams get softer and softer and then they just stop. The guards come out of that room, stained with blood.
With that he begins to pull me away, but I have no strength to move. I'm physically drained. I look at Yasmeen and quickly mouth, 'Alpha Amor is coming.' I think she understands what I'm trying to say, because she just nods, her face streaked with tears. I can't help but feel responsible. They are in this condition because of me. I should have been smarter with the call. Zyon notices my draining energy and scoops me up, carrying me up, bridal style. I'm too drained to care. He walks to his wing, and stops right outside the door. I stand up, and walk into the wing without looking back. I know he will join his pack members for dinner. The door bangs shut behind me.

Tower of Somnus
When humanity first encountered alien life, we were judged and found wanting. The Galactic Consensus interviewed our leaders and subjected us to a battery of psychological tests to determine our progress as a society. They found us to be selfish, wasteful, impulsive, and boorish neighbors. Earth was blockaded and our collective encounter with our extrasolar neighbors rapidly faded from memory. All they left behind was a hypercomm relay and a handful of subscriptions to a massively multiplayer game that participants played in their sleep. The Consensus said that it would let us interact with our neighbors in a controlled setting. That it would teach us to be better members of the galactic community. The megacorporations that controlled Earth ignored the game until they learned that the powers earned from clearing dungeons were just as real when day broke. Magic, supernatural abilities and rumors exploded from nothing and a subscription to The Tower of Somnus became a status symbol. Katherine ‘Kat’ Debs doesn’t have much, but it could be worse. Born in an arcology, she was assigned a job in the megacorporation that raised her almost as soon as she could work. Despite the stability of her corporate life, she wanted something more. A chance to claw her way up the rigid social and financial ladder to make something of herself. A chance that wouldn’t come naturally to someone as familiar with dark alleyways and the glint of steel as she was with office work and corporate niceties.Book One is up on Kindle Unlimited as of 7/6/22 - https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B0B2X3L8H5

That Scottish Play
This is a very silly and cringey parody of Shakespeare's Macbeth. The play format will be kept consistent throughout. Unless you enjoy cringing so hard you experience physical pain, I'd suggest avoiding this work. However, as the level of cringe is only slightly less than that of the office, any fans of that show may enjoy this work. (I believe, as a parody, this work is protected from copyright by fair use, additionally, Shakespeare is in the public domain so it doesn't fall under copyright in the first place. If I'm wrong please let me know)
