Hermione P.O.V
I woke up in bed. I blinked several times, coming to my senses slowly as I registered where I was.
"Oh hell no." I was in Tom's bed. I sat bolt upright and winced in pain, falling back down on the bed hopelessly. I forgot my wrist and ankle were broken. Just remembering it seemed to trigger the pain of it all back to life. I gritted my teeth and attempted to move again.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you."
I froze. Tom Riddle was leaning against his desk a few feet away. Tall, dressed entirely in black robes, the look in his eyes was intense. He really looked like the Devil himself.
"Why the hell am I here?" I demanded. I sat up again, wincing as I pushed the blankets off myself and carefully swung my legs over the side of the bed.
"No. I'm not letting you leave." Tom said quietly. "You need to rest."
"What I need," I said, "Is to get the hell away from you." I placed my feet on the ground and shakily got to my feet. My ankle protested, stabbing pains shooting up my leg.
"Impressive." Tom said coldly. "You stood up. Now try to walk."
He crossed his arms, infuriatingly placid as I painstakingly put one foot in front of the other.
Tiny white lights sprung to the corners of my vision. I looked up to see Tom stepping closer.
"Get out of my way." I took another step. And then another, inhaling sharply as I put my weight onto my broken ankle. I didn't care of course. My main concern was getting out of this place, I could focus on that later.
"Not far to go now." He said calmly. "Just another 60 steps or so."
"Go...to...hell." I wheezed.
Tom simply watched me, his dark eyes glinting predatorily in the dim light of the room.
I almost had made it to the door before I fell, landing hard on the ground. Tears of pain stung my eyes, my ankle sparking with a searing pain.

"That was exactly 6 steps. I do apologise. You might have made it if my room wasn't in such a state."
I heard his voice before I saw him, heard his footsteps coming ever so close as he approached coming to a stop directly in front of me. I didn't want to look up, because I already knew there would be an infuriatingly condescending look on his face.
"Look at me, Hermione." I clenched my jaw, looking up at him with as much loathing as I could muster.
His eyes were shining very brightly, now that I was looking at him it was hard to look away. "Are you going to resist me again?" He said quietly. "Or are you going to be a good girl and do exactly as I say?"
I looked away, focusing on the hairband around my wrist instead of looking at him.
"I hate you."
"You can lie all you want." Tom's voice was edged in amusement. "But I know you love me. I have proof."
He bent, placing something on the ground carefully beside me. A piece of parchment. I snatched it up quickly, barely aware I had moved my broken wrist until a sharp pain flared. I scanned the parchment. It was the spell I had used on him.
"You really should be careful about what you leave lying around." Tom said sardonically. "Unless of course, you intended me to find this."
I exhaled.
"I was trying to help you, Tom. That's it."
"Using the Dark Arts in your own favour isn't something I would usually condemn," He said, his tone becoming increasingly angrier as he spoke. "But using a spell of this magnitude against my very soul is not something I will take lightly. Did you bother to read the entire book? Or did you just tear a page out and hope for the best."
"I read the chapter. There was no need to read the entire damn book. It wasn't necessary. The other parts were irrelevant."
"I see." Tom's voice was dangerously soft. "So I assume then that you missed the chapter on the potential side effects of that spitfire little spell of yours."
"What are you talking about?"

"Side effects of this spoken incantation is as follows," Tom recited in a bland voice, "Lack of feeling. Dizziness. Heart defects. Stroke. Uncontrollable tremors. Death. I could go on. It took up an entire fucking chapter after all."
"Tom I didn't know-"
"That's besides the point. You dare even attempt to use this spell against me without knowing the full cost. Are you stupid? Have you still not come to your senses? You can toy with your own life. But I'm not going to let you do the same with mine."
"You're not dead."
"No. And once again that is besides the point. I was very close to being so. Did you realise that magic of this level is extremely dangerous? You are barely at the skill level needed to pull something off this magnitude off. You are smart to a degree. But books and brains isn't all this magic needed. Common sense and years of practice would've helped you. But it doesn't matter. I reversed the spell."
"You what?" My heart sank. And Tom must've seen my expression because his voice took on a lighter tone.
"You can't change me, Hermione. And I won't be putting up with your attempts to do so anymore. You are risking my life, and you are risking your own. I have run out of patience for these childish games of yours."
His look was intense. I looked away for a moment.
"Have it your way then." I said. I turned, shifting my weight onto my good leg and started dragging myself away from him. I reached the door.
"It's locked." Tom said from behind me. He hadn't moved at all. "You have been through a lot, and you need to rest. Stop playing up."
"I'm not playing up." I turned to face him. "You're crazy. I'm not staying here."
"There is no way out." Tom walked forward slowly. "Your overtired and need to rest." He held out his arms.
"I'm not a little kid." I said indignantly.
"No. But you're acting like one. You haven't been eating, and you having been sleeping properly for months. You're overdoing it. Whatever you are trying to do, you need to stop because it's taking a clear toll."
"I won't stop." I said furiously. "I could never."
"You're going to stop whether you like it or not. I'm not going to be dealing with your delusional antics any longer. If you aren't clever enough to deal with yourself, then I will do it for you."
Before I knew it Tom had walked toward me and lifted me off the ground.
"Get the fuck off me!" I yelled. But my efforts to resist him were in vain. I might as well have been hitting a wall of stone. Sighing he placed me on his bed, and I immediately scrambled over to the other side.
"Don't be difficult." He said calmly, his hand coming to rest on one of the wooden beams of his 4 poster bed. "This is for your own good."
"Like hell it is." I snapped.
"Have it your way, then." I was about to get off his bed when something seized me from behind, lifting me. I thought it was Tom but knew it couldn't have been the second I saw him standing a distance away, watching as I was tucked in bed, my entire body becoming stiff as a board. I couldn't move anything except my head.
"You're going to rest." Tom said, coming to stand beside me. "You're resisting me so much you're making yourself ill."
"I'm not going to sleep." I spat. I was furious. There was no way in hell Tom was forcing me to sleep.
"You're not well. I've been watching you, Hermione. I've noticed how you're skipping meals. I've noticed how many nights you would linger in the Common room instead of going to bed like the rest of us. I know you've probably formulated some little plan in your head to change my soul, and help me to love." He gave a derisive laugh. "But only a senseless mind would ever believe I could be altered."
He placed a cold hand on my head. "Sleep." He said.
"I won't-"
"Sleep." He repeated, and in panic I realised he was actually using a spell against me.
"Don't resist it." I could hear Tom's voice from very far away. "Give in." I drifted, sinking into the blankets until finally I closed my eyes.

"I don't know who you think you are coming here, and acting like you don't care about anything. Now listen here Princess, because I'm not going to repeat myself. Here's a couple of rules that I'd like to enlighten upon you. Number one, you do not talk back to me. And two, you don't mess with me or the rules," his breath fans my face and I close my eyes. The proximity between us was terrifying. "I've dealt with many bitches like you, so I suggest that you follow those rules unless you want to end up like them," - he leans in. His mouth lingers near my ear, "used."... "... You might think that you run this place, but you do not run me. Understand? And the sooner you understand that, the better it'll be for the both of us," I warn staring right into his eyes before walking away. I was more than amused by his dumbfounded expression. I stop, and turn back around, facing him, "And one piece of advice, know what you're fishing for before you start fishing. What if you find a shark and it reels you in, instead?"⇒Highest rank: 1 in Chicklit on 01.08.16
