I saw an advert for a job today

On the advert page of the newspaper

I needed an extra job to help pay the bills

My family counted on me to survive

I sent them an email inquiry

And they responded in a few minutes

The job was open and they needed my info

So I sent them my Resumé

I received a response saying

The job vacancy had been taken

I knew right away they were lying to me

I was fit and qualified for the job

Black people are always seen as a threat

And never really taken very seriously

They're serious to pin the crimes on us

But never serious to give us a job

I've learned to love my skin color

Even if it is as dark as the night

They say all humans are equal to them

But they don't practice what they preach.
