《A Way Back Home | Adopted by Gerard Way (Book Two)》Introduction

Things are hectic today in the Way household, and for once it's not my fault. Until now I wasn't partaking in any of it, actually, and simply sitting in the comfort of the "nerd room" as I like to call it, his "office" as Gerard Way puts it.
The knocking on the door startles me out of my gentle plucking on the strings of my ukulele, a melody I was making up as I went along.
"Eve?" the voice on the other side of the door asks.
"You don't have to knock, it's your office!" I call back.
"Right," I hear him mumble before the door swings open. This might be his office, but I spend as much time as I can in here without it being annoying. I remember the first time I set foot in here when I was fourteen, how I was in awe of all the books, comics, records, all the art that covered the room. And with the papers and pencils strewn across the desk, it was a systematic mess (much like my life).
The only thing that's changed in here since then is the coffee machine, because we could no longer be bothered to go down to the kitchen to get some.
"What's up?"
"Go help Lindsey downstairs, okay? Everyone'll be here soon."
"Sure," I say, getting up from the office chair, the kind with wheels that spins. And yes, it's just as much fun as it would've been when I was a little kid.
As I make my way out of the room, ukulele in hand, intending to bring it back to my bedroom before heading downstairs, I'm stopped by a hand on my shoulder. "You were sounding good, keep it up."
I roll my eyes and smile as I walk away, knowing there's no way he could hear me playing so softly. "Thanks, Dad."

hi
I'm back! I kept my word and this second book is happening no matter how unmotivated I've been feeling lately. Thanks for not letting me give up on it.
If you haven't read the first book of this series, Finding A Way, go read it. Stuff will make a lot more sense.
So this is set in 2009, save the first chapter, and yes Lindsey is in it. They're still living in Jersey which isn't historically accurate, is it? I don't really care, though, this is my story and moving them wouldn't be convenient to the plot.
So there.
I'm gonna be honest, I'm not completely happy with how the first book turned out. But it was a setup for this one. She's in a way better mental state now, things are going well (which you could hopefully tell by this introduction chapter). In Finding A Way I feel like Evelyn's relationships with the other characters were... detached and they aren't so much anymore, so it'll hurt that much more when I ruin her li— *ahem*. Now, the "detachedness" was actually my intention, what with an eating disorder and a troubled past taking up most of her headspace, but I think it just came out underdeveloped. So here's what I'm gonna do: I'm really gonna take my time on this book and try my absolute best to make it better than the last one.
I somehow managed an update every 3 or 4 days for Finding A Way (save that couple week break I took for exam season). I can't promise that again because I actually want to try this school year and intend on putting school first. Well, my mental health first, and then school. Which is great until it affects my education which effects my mental health, which effects my education, which—

The Fabled Islands
Somewhere out there, in the great expanse of space and time, exist the Fabled Islands. Nobody knows how or why they exist, but only that it is a strange and special place that operates under laws separate from the universe. The Fabled Islands are made up of vast floating continents. They vary in size, with some ranging from the surface area of a small planet, to a star. If you look at them from afar, you would find that they are placed in a line. Each island is separated by a vast amount of space, so there is only one way to travel from one island to the next; a gateway on the edge of the island. Each island is governed by strange rules. The only thing they share in common, is that the rules are governed by the System. The rules change vastly from one island to the next, so you must quickly adapt. Tristan was raised on the first island, Fertility Island, and has finally been allowed to become a Brave; a respected profession throughout the islands. Fertility Island is a peaceful island. There are hardly any monsters, the land is fertile, and the people kind. This is the complete opposite of what Tristan wants. Bring on the monsters! Bring on the magical items! I want adventure, loot, and to put my life on the line! Where are the dungeons, caverns, and mountains to be explored? Where is the mythical equipment to be found? The next island? Then the next island I will go! His adventure begins now.
8 135Blood & Noodles
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] As they always have, humanity hunts the gods roaming the world, craving the supernatural power that flows within their veins. Even a drop is zealously guarded, passed from master to student through the ages. It is with this stolen power that the Blooded - those with divine blood coursing through them - grasp beyond mortality and achieve prestige, power, and greatness. Yet, for every fraction of power gained, thousands perish, slain by the gods' supernatural prowess. But everything is beginning to change. Eight years ago, for the first time in human memory, a god was felled. Part-time chef and full-time nuisance Orvi wants nothing to do with gods. Living in a derelict city, his only concerns are ensuring his adopted family's restaurant is prosperous and how to best beat the neighbourhood boys in a fight. If he's lucky, he might even snag a date with the farmer's daughter at the market. But even though he cares nothing for the gods or their blood, the world won't leave him alone forever. Because to reach godhood, one must first leave their humanity behind. *** The first arc of Blood & Noodles follows the adolescent Orvi as he attempts to navigate his rapidly changing home and - by his own definition - protect his family. The story is told almost entirely in the first-person, from the perspective of a teenager who isn't always the sharpest tool in the shed. There are tragic elements, especially in the current arc. It's character-focused and driven, though the protagonist's shenanigans are backdropped by a world operating independently from him. Orvi's a generally light-hearted character, and though the story veers into darker territory, I also want it to be able to make readers smile. Action sequences, despite the fantastical elements, are meant to be grounded and clearly-conveyed; Orvi is a brawler, not a warrior. I'm trying to write a story that's enjoyable to read and flows nicely, mainly because it's more fun to write. I'm also trying to improve my writing, so any feedback, whether positive or negative, is welcome!

8 180Modern OP game system... With a glitch! (DROPPED)
I just kinda had a wish and then it was granted, well guess what! I'm gonna become a powerful unknown force in the world. I also have a system and got a glitch and was able to add as many points as I wanted whenever I wanted. (it's simple because I don't want to do math when writing when my mood swings a lot and keeping record of skills and and other stuff. Also I'll add other tags in the middle of chapters.)

This book is written in Hungarian. Not in English. A történet a M.A.G.U.S. univerzumában játszódik. A könyv az V. Zászlóháború első két évének történéseit írja le egy dwoon hadvezér, Rosten Harneor szemszögéből. The cover picture is from Giorgi Vasari's (1511-1574) The battle of Marciano in Val di Chiana. The original can be seen in the Palazzo Vecchio, Florence.
