Annabelle's POV:

We reached the edge of the beach and I felt arms wrap around my waist, "where have you been?" I turned to see Matt smiling at me with his big blue eyes. "Sorry I couldn't find it" I lied quickly, Carter looked over at us and I saw him just stare down Matt. I didn't want to be in the middle of a confrontation so I spoke up, "come on let's go". Matt chuckled and ran around to face me and then pecked a kiss on my cheek. "I can smell the alcohol" I said to him dryly. He chuckled and put his arms on my shoulders, "only a few don't worry babe" he spoke so confidently. Babe? I looked at Carter and I saw him look at us so disapprovingly and walk off. He was so cold even though we had just made out in the lift, at this point I knew I had undeniable feelings for him.

We met the others who were laughing and drinking with each other, "Matt!" Danny cried amongst his laughing. Matt and Danny were slurring nothing's to each other as I looked over at Carter who was watching me, I blushed and smiled breaking the eye contact but kept looking back for some reason. I sat opposite him across the fire and we watched each other. He ran his fingers through his hair and rubbed the back of his neck and smiled which accentuated his dimples. I bit my lip because damn he looked sexy. Elizabeth was close to him but he seemed distracted, distracted by me. I smiled and laughed giddily, even though I hadn't had anything to drink I felt like I was on a high just seeing him.

"Anna?" questioned Matt as I turned to face him, he brushed the hair behind my ear and began placing his hand on my thigh. "Matt?" I said questioningly and looked up at his eyes he had a grin on is face but one that was drunk.

"Anna we're close now but we can be even closer" he whispered in my ear, I looked at him just feeling disgusted. "I've already said I'm not a conquest so suck balls Matt", I stood up and brushed the sand from my trousers. Everyone was looking at me at this point and he stood up also swaying a little, "I'd rather much suck you". My face creased up in disgust as I shoved him to the floor but only because he already had no balance and told him, "you disgust me". He sighed and swiped the sand in an upwards motion then stood up again "suit yourself" and walked around to Elizabeth and then began kissing her. She didn't even hold back and within moments they had tongues down each other's throats. I huffed rolled my eyes and walked off, what a douche.

"Annabelle" Carter called running after me, I kept walking as I could feel tears pricking in my eyes and it wasn't because I was upset, far from it but more that I had fallen in his trap and in his lies. He held my arm and stopped me and then made me face him, "I'm sorry" he said regretfully. I sniffled a little and shook my head, "don't be" I said slowly, "it's my fault he took your date". He let out a pshh sound as he said obviously slightly angry "when I ripped them apart she said to me that I hadn't been giving her any attention and she just carried on". He shook his head slowly and looked at me. I gave a little smile and said half-heartedly "that's definitely a low blow". He chuckled a little and shrugged his shoulders, it wasn't awkward after that between us but it was more silent then it should have been.

"Annabelle" he said making me stop and turn to him. "back in the elevator.." I put my finger on his lips. I remembered exactly what he said because I had been replaying it in my mind. "Carter" I started, "I don't know what it is but I've felt so close to you lately but haven't done anything because you're my brothers best friend". He chuckled and held my hand away from his mouth and entwined our fingers as he said, "imagine that I've felt the same way and you're my best friend's sister". I laughed and blushed, "you have?" and I could feel myself going all girly and weak at the knees. He moved his hand and rubbed the back of his neck "your beautiful and funny what more could I want?". He put his hands on my waist and pulled my closer to him, I was waiting for us to kiss but instead he placed a kiss on my cheek as I giggled and said, "what a gentleman".
