"Guys, this is the 4th apartment." Sienna groaned. "You're going to have to pick one eventually."
Here is what's happening right now.
The moms and dads have trusted Connor and I enough to look at apartments without them today.
Kelsey and Jake are meeting with caterers, and looking at flowers with the moms.
Abby, Kallie, and Will are off exploring New York.
The dad's took this day to actually try to sleep so they can be well rested for the competition tomorrow.
Wills parents have joined the moms and the dads.
We got here at 7 this morning, we've been looking at apartments for 5 hours now with Sienna, Ol and Ryan, and we have yet to find the perfect one.
"The last one didn't have enough lights." Connor shook his head.
"The one before that the stairs were too steep and there weren't enough windows." I crossed my arms.
"And in the first one there weren't enough outlets." Connor shrugged.
"Why do you guys need that many outlets." Olivia shook her head.
"It'll be your place too there shit brick." I raised my eyebrows. "3 TV's, stereo, phones, lamps, kitchen appliances-"
"Neither of you actually cook." She crossed her arms.
"You do." I nodded.
"Plus, extra for when you stay." Connor kissed Sienna's cheek. "We need a lot of outlets because someone." He looked at me. "Is prissy and has to many things for his hair. Blow drier, diffuser."
"Don't forget his face lamp, and his teeth whitener light, plus you have to charge your water tooth brush." Ryan nodded. "Plus she's got her straightener, her curling iron, her hot rollers, her face steamer, plus her vanity lights both your phones -"
"OK." Olivia held her hands up. "A lot of outlets."
"I am not prissy." I raised my eyebrows.
"Mason, you are the definition of a pretty boy." Sienna nodded. "Him." She wrapped her arms around Connor. "He's obviously pretty. But it's effortless. You have to try."
"Awe, babe." He smiled.
"I do not have to try!" I yelled.
They all just looked at me.
"Well, pardon me for taking care of myself." I rolled my eyes.
The elevator rang and the door opened, and our realtor came walking out. "It's all ready for you guys to see if you're ready?" She smiled.
"Yes." Ryan nodded. "They are ready."
"Then lets go." She nodded.
We all filed in to the elevator. "Now this one, it's the 3 bedroom, it's right in your price range, theres a beautiful view, lots of windows for natural light, 2 bathrooms, one in the master and one in the hall, both full, both have bathtubs, but the bedroom bathroom has a stand up shower as well. Beautiful electric fire place. Dining room/kitchen combo, separate living room, a lot of lights, and plenty, PLENTY of outlets. There's an elevator, and it's a 15 minute cab ride from the school."
"But are there-"
"Shut up." Ryan looked at Connor. "You are literally more picky than your girlfriends. So much for running water, lights, and close to the school." He rolled his eyes.
"Am I going to bust my head off of doorways or ceiling fans?" I sighed.
"No." She shook her head. "High ceilings, no fans, and the cooling system is a wall system. You're good." She smiled.
"Will we both fit in the bathtub?" Olivia pursed her lips.
"Yes. You will both fit in the bath tub, and like you requested, it is deep." Rachel nodded.
"Why do you need a deep bath tub." Ryan looked at her.
"To cover her entire body." Connor and I nodded as we got out of the elevator.
"And how far away is Dana's Baker?" Sienna looked at her.
"It's about a 5 minute walk." Rachel smiled.
"I love it." Sienna looked at us.
"We haven't even been inside." I shook my head.
"Well, come inside." Rachel unlocked the door and lead us in.
As soon as we walked in, it was a bright open space.
"That is a big fucking window." Connor nodded. "Too big."
"The second place didn't have enough windows." Olivia rolled her eyes.
"Yeah babe, and this one, is all window." I nodded.
"Jesus." Ryan groaned. "You're not going to be this bad when we go to Syracuse next weekend are you?" He looked at Sienna.
"No. I just want there to be 3 food places within walking distance." She shrugged.
"Lets, just, look around." Rachel nodded.
We walked around the living room. Nice big couches, wall big enough for a TV to be mounted above the fire place.
"Has there been any problems with the fire place?" I looked at Rachel.
"Problems?" She gave me a look.
"Fires." I nodded. "Has it caused any fires?"
"Mason, it's an electric fire place." Olivia sighed.
"Electrical fires?" Connor raised his eyebrows.
"NO." Rachel shook her head. "There have been no fires. No problems here at all. A lot of students from NYU live in this building."
"Well wouldn't that make it loud?" Connor crossed his arms.
"It's actually quite quiet, aside from the occasional party." She nodded. "How about we make our way to the kitchen." She pointed through a window on the wall across from the hallway.
"Yes, yes please." Olivia nodded.
"But what about-"
"Connor." Sienna sighed. "Shut up and lets go see the kitchen."
Rachel lead us in to the kitchen.
There was a wrap around counter with an opening for the kitchen door, and an opening to go over to the dining space with a small 5 person table, a cabinet for dishes.
There was an island in the middle of the kitchen space with bar stools. Black and white granite tops, black and silver bar stools. White walls, black appliances, silver fridge, silver double sink, a dishwasher installed next to the sink, and a fuck ton of cabinets and drawers with a small walk in pantry next to the fridge.
"Why are there so many drawers." I shook my head. "And cabinets?"
"For storage?" Ryan gave me a look. "People generally put food, in them. Utensils, silverware, pots and pans? It's a kitchen."
"Isn't it a little cramped?" Connor sighed.
"We're literally all standing in here, and there's still 6 feet of space on the other 3 sides babe." Sienna nodded.
"Is there a garbage disposal?" I looked at Rachel.
"There is." She sighed.
"What if one of us were to drop our rings down there, or your bracelet?" I looked at Olivia.
She closed her eyes and sighed. "Rachel I think we're ready for the bedrooms."
She gave Olivia a small smile. "OK." She nodded.
She rolled her eyes, grabbed Sienna's hand, and followed Rachel out of the kitchen.
We went to to, but Ryan stepped in front of us. "Go in you guys." He yelled down the hall. "We'll be right there." He turned and shook his head.

"What?" I scrunched my face.
"Look." He clapped his hands together. "I love you guys. SO much." He nodded.
"And we love you?" Connor looked at me.
"But calm the fuck down. You guys said that SHE was the picky one, but it's you two. Not enough windows, too much window, light bulbs, and fucking outlets."
"We're not being picky." I crossed my arms.
"You just bitched about the garbage disposal and cupboards." He nodded. "And when have you ever cared if there was a party?" He looked at Connor. "Just shut up, and save your comments for AFTER Rachel is done showing the apartment, alright?" He rolled his eyes and walked out of the kitchen.
We both looked at each other and just walked out of the kitchen.
"Ready?" Rachel smiled.
We both nodded.
"This one." She opened the door. "Is the smallest room, so this would be the guest room I assume?"
Olivia nodded.
Connor and I walked in and looked around.
"It's-"
Ryan cleared his throat and cut me off. He glared and shook his head.
I pursed my lips and nodded. "OK. What about the other rooms." I sighed.
"Well, the shared bathroom is between this one and that one. Would you like to see that, just make our way down the hall?"
"Yes, please." Olivia nodded.
She lead us out and to the next door.
"I'm assuming that you two, will be in the bigger room?" She looked at Olivia and I.
"That's what we agreed on since there's 2 of them." Connor nodded.
"Then Connor, this would be your bathroom." She smiled and opened the door.
It was a decent sized bathroom, single sink. Bathtub shower combo, a big cupboard by the tub and a medicine cabinet above the sink.
Connor pursed his lips and took a deep breath.
"Anything?" Rachel raised her eyebrows.
He looked at Ryan and Ryan shook his head.
"We'll talk after we finish seeing everything." He nodded.
"Perfect." She smiled.
She lead us across the hall to I'm assuming his bedroom and opened the door.
"This one, would be yours."
It was a big room. Big bed, nice sized closet, no windows witch is good for Connor cause he can't sleep with any type of light coming in.
Olivia looked at him and raised her eyebrows.
He gave her a small smile. "Their room?"
"Right down here." She turned the corner and stopped at the only door down this hall.
She opened it and motioned us in.
It was a big white room, kind sized bed, 3 big windows, a fire escape, another small fire place, a big walk in closet, enough space for a dresser since I know Olivia would claim that closet.
Olivia pursed her lips and looked at me.
I cleared my throat. "Bathroom?"
Rachel smiled and opened the bathroom door.
Double sink, big counter, big cabinet, stand up shower, and a deep, deep bathtub.
She looked at me and raised her eyebrows.
"Lets uh, go out in the living room." Connor nodded.
We all followed Rachel out, and Olivia and Sienna wandered.
"So, what're we thinking boys?" Rachel looked at Connor and I.
"I don't know." Connor shook his head. "It's 16 stories up."
"And the location is, fine." I nodded. "But-"
"Guys." Ryan cleared his throat.
"But it's just so-"
"Guys!" Ryan raised his voice.
"What?" We both looked at him.
He sighed and pointed across the living room. "That is why I told you guys to stop." He shook his head.
We both looked over toward the big ass window, and Sienna was just hugging Olivia.
But Olivia had a look on her face that made me feel like shit. Her sad, over it look.
I sighed. "Baby?"
She pulled away from Sie, wiped her face, and took a deep breath. "I think we're ready to see the next one Rachel." She grabbed Sienna's hand, and started walking right by us.
"Hey." I grabbed her hand and pulled her back.
"What?" She crossed her arms and looked at her feet.
"Come on." I lifted her faced to look at me. "Don't do that."
"We're sorry, Ol." Connor sighed.
"Is this the one?" I looked down at her.
"Clearly not." She shook her head.
"Ol, he and I have just been focusing on stuff that we like that we didn't even ask you." Connor shook his head.
"Baby, do you like this one?" I grabbed her hand. "The truth." I nodded.
She pursed her lips and looked at Sienna.
"Tell them." She nodded.
"I love this one." Olivia looked at Connor and I. "It's perfect. And I know you don't like the window, but I love the window, with the view of my favorite place in the world. And I love the fire place. And I know you don't like all the cupboards, or the garbage disposal, but I'm the one whose going to be in the kitchen the most when I move in, and I love the kitchen. It's the perfect kitchen, and I can watch TV with you guys while I'm cooking, and I've always wanted a black and white kitchen. And our room, there's a view from the fire escape, and I love the fire place because it's also a heater, and the bath tub. I am in love with that bath tub. And the closet-"
"OK." Connor pulled her in and hugged her.
He looked up at me and raised his eyebrows.
I gave him a small smile and nodded. "We'll take it Rachel." I looked at her.
"Finally!" She smiled and yelled.
"Really?" Olivia pulled away and looked up at us.
"Can we take the garbage disposal out?" I pursed my lips.
"No." She shook her head.
"Can we paint the kitchen black?" Connor scrunched his face.
"No." She shook her head.
I sighed. "Can we put up blinds on the big window and the ones in our room?"
"Yes." She nodded.
"Then yeah." I nodded. "This is the one."
"Thank you." She pouted and pulled both Connor and I in to a hug.
"I'll get the paperwork sent you to you, and we'll start getting everything in order, then you can spend the next few months getting the place ready, and move in whenever." Rachel nodded.
"Oh, uh, our parents wanted to make sure we could pay rent for the full year to be safe?" Connor pursed his lips
"I already talked to the land lord, he's more than happy to do that." She smiled. "You can make whatever changed you like as long as you're not knocking out walls or replacing the locks without approval. No animals over 50lbs."
"Then, we'll take it." I smiled. "Would uh, we be able to stay here next month, get some stuff around? We bring the girls to Broadway for their birthday."
"We can make that happen." She nodded.
"Thank you." I nodded.
Olivia was lit up and smiley the entire way back to the Air BNB.
Our parents were all sat up in the living room waiting for us.
"We're uh, gonna leave you three to do this." Sienna nodded and pulled Ryan up the stairs.
"Well?" My dad tilted his head as we sat down.
"Well, you guys said no more than $70,000 for the year." I pursed my lips.
The four of our parents nodded.
"Well, we found one. Olivia fell in love, and, it's 15 minute cab ride from the school. 3 rooms, full kitchen. And, Mason and I already have job interviews lined up. So." Connor scrunched his face.
"How much?" Jason sighed.
"$60,000 for the year?" He pursed his lips.
"Well, the scholarships helped, and you have your college funds. So, $60,000 is fine." Holly nodded. "But the other 10 grand does for groceries. You both get jobs, and you both maintain at least B averages. You come home for major holidays, and summer."
"Yes ma'am." We both smiled.
"Well, we'll figure everything out when we get the paperwork." My mom smiled.
"And, she said we could stay there when we come for Ol and Ab's birthday. And we can take the next few months getting everything around, making it our own place and all." Connor nodded.
"Alright then." Jason nodded.
"Send us the pictures, you guys go shower, Abby has plans for you guys tonight." My dad shooed us out of the living room.
We shuffled up the stairs, but I grabbed Olivia's hand before she walked in to her room. "You happy?"
She smiled and nodded.
"Good." I nodded. "That's all I want."
"I'm ready to come visit you guys in our perfect apartment already." She nodded.
"And I can't wait for you to baby." I smiled.
"Thank you." She wrapped her arms around me. "For everything."
"I'd do anything for you Ol. You know that." I kissed the top of her head.
"I promise I'll do everything to make that apartment great for you." She nodded.
"You loving it makes it perfect for me." I kissed her.
OK.
I'm going to admit that I was just picky as shit.
But the look on Olivia's face when she thought we weren't going to get it, it killed me.
If she see's us in that apartment, being happy, and building a future.
That's all I need.

All the while, there are whispers of a greater and more ancient power coming to life. A power Brenn’s wife knows more about than she wants to let on. It’s a good thing Brenn is used to fighting. CW: Contains mildly graphic scenes of violence/death, topics of unwanted pregnancy/abortion, scientific experimentation on sapient beings, depression/suicide, grief, and trauma. The tone of this fiction is often dark and distinctly dystopian in lighter shades of Margaret Atwood, though where there is darkness there is always hope and light. On Hiatus Until September When the School Year Begins and Mom This story takes a considerable amount of time and mental energy to complete. I thought I had enough backlog and time to post it as a serial while COVID kept my child home from school, but it turns out while I can quickly write other pieces, I cannot produce the quality I need with this one at an acceptable rate. We'll resume in September when my days are much freer. Thank you for your patience and stay tuned for a different storytelling romp more suited for a serial platform in the meantime.

Glitch — Alpha [Swedish] [Svenska]
********* For English readers: (Might as well add this information in English to save the lovely souls looking through our works some time) I probably won't translate this work, but I'm working on another translation within YA, if that's something you'd be interested in. This one's horror/thriller, so.. yeah. Maybe sometime in the future. Otilia works at a daycare when a child disappears. Seconds later, the child reappears, like nothing had happened. She thinks she's worked too much, but when disappearences start to happen all around the globe, she and her boyfriend realize that something has gone really, really wrong. When they get an idea about what could be the cause, no matter how unbelievable, they will do everything in their power to get the information to the right people. This was my first-ever-novel and my first gamelit story (though I had no idea that was a thing/genre at the time). This novel contains a lot of violence and blood and can be uncomfortable to read for some people. There is also some violence from, and off-screen violence to, children.
