It's finally Friday. Which means pep assembly, Boys Vs Girls basketball game.
That, I am excited for.
Oaken will not tell us at all the first half of the assembly, because all of the class reps were sworn to secrecy.
Connor, Ben, Ryan and I were all walking in to the assembly now after Connor and I put our stuff in the locker room for the team to get ready during the fall sport letter men and academic awards.
It took us a solid 3 minutes to find the girls. The girls being Sienna, Abby, Olivia, and Havannah. Along with Josh and Carter.
We all made our way up the bleachers and sat behind them.
"Any idea what the first half is yet?" Connor leaned forward and kissed Sienna's cheek.
They, have been extremely affectionate all week.
"Not a clue." She shook her head.
"You three?" Ryan looked at Havannah, Abby, and Olivia. "Oaken has had to tell one of you."
"Nope." Abby shook her head.
"I don't know. Juniors are winning whatever it is though." Olivia shrugged.
"I love pep assemblies." Havannah clapped.
"Tory!" Abby yelled when she noticed her walking up the steps and waved her over.
Tory walked over and sat down with us.
"Hi." Ben smiled.
"Hi." She squeaked out.
Connor, Ryan and I all looked at each other and shook our heads.
And then I was being smacked in the back of my head.
"Stop it." Ben grit his teeth.
I held my hands up in surrender.
The music playing through out the gym turned down a bit and Oaken, Austin Bromey, and Jordan and Grant McPhearson all came walking to the center of the gym.
"Hows everyone doing today." Grant smiled in to the microphone. "Everyone excited for tomorrow?"
Literally everyone in the gym started yelling.
"Good, so are we." Austin nodded.
"This year, we decided to do things a little differently." Jordan looked up in to the bleachers on both sides of the gym.
Sophomores and Freshman were on the one side, Juniors and Seniors on the other.
"We've broken the assembly up in to two parts. Most of you, know about the second half. The boys and girls basketball teams are going to face off to have a good old fashioned battle of the sexes." Oaken smiled.
"But before that, we all have a surprise before the awards are given out today." Jordan smiled.
"The four of us have gotten together, and we agreed what better way to start off the dance weekend, than with a good old fashioned dance battle." Grant smiled and nodded.
Everyone started yelling and clapping, honestly, it sounds pretty fun.
"Oaken, Jordan, Grant and myself have searched the school for another rep to be up here with ourselves from our own class. But the twist, is that each rep we've all chosen, comes right from Jane's Dance Studio." Austin looked around.
"The thing is, none of us know the others reps, so this comes as a shock to us too. But what we're going to do before we announce our reps, is draw numbers to decide the order we announce them." Grant took his snap back off and put a few pieced of paper in it from his back pocket.
"Oaken, do the honors." Austin smiled.
Oaken reached in and pulled out a paper. "I got 3." He smiled.
"Austin." Jordan nodded.
"Do you two know who they picked?" I leaned forward to Abby and Olivia.

They both shrugged.
Austin chose a number. "2." He smiled.
"And so our rivalry continues early little brother." Grant nodded and they both reached in.
Grant let out a harsh sigh. "Looks like, I'm going first." He shook his head.
"Which means, my little ringer, will be last, and I wouldn't have it any other way. So before we call our reps out. We're going to go over the rules." Jordan nodded.
"Much like we just did, our reps are each going to draw a number out of 1 or 2. The matching numbers, will be the grades to battle each other." Austin held a finger up. "You guys, pick the winners with your applause."
"If there is a tie, we've got this handy dandy wheel up here, which our Principal will spin to decide the song, and our Jane's dance reps will battle it out face to face." Grant held a finger up. "Oaken here, has a few direst links to Jane's, and according to them, they end off certain days with a dance battle, which is where we got the idea. He put some songs on here that he knows each and every student at Jane's knows choreography. With them throwing in their own creative twists, you will also decide that winner."
"The losing team after the first two battles, will battle it out to determine third and fourth place. The winning teams will do the same to determine second and our winning class for the day." Oaken smiled.
"Everyone got that?" Austin looked around.
"Did Oaken just use us?" Abby looked at Olivia.
Olivia nodded.
Everyone yelled and clapped again.
"Alright." Oaken nodded. "Grant, start us off."
Grant nodded. "Well, this may not come as a shock to you all. But our senior Jane's rep, is none other than my best friend Will Grayson." He clapped.
Will made his way down the bleachers, dapped Grant up, and Grant handed him a green hanky and ear piece mic.
"Called that." Abby laughed.
"Well duh." Josh laughed.
"At least the seniors are winning." I shrugged.
"Right." Connor laughed.
"Austin, you're up my guy." Grant spread his hands out in front of him.
"I, got very lucky to have this person say yes. So Miss Delaney York, come on down pretty." Austin smiled.
We saw little Delaney stand up and make her way down. She hugged Austin and he handed her a yellow hankey and an ear piece mic.
"Oaken Pate, you're up kiddo." Austin clapped.
"Now, I know for a fact that I've got a winner on my team. Because well, I've seen her dance and I know her best friend all to well." He turned around and waved. Amber smiled and waved back. "Layla Olsen, get down here." Oaken waved her down.
She smiled and did a little handshake with Oaken when she got down. He handed her a blue hanky and a ear piece mic.
"And now Jordan." Oaken clapped and nodded.
"Well, I, definitely lucked up. Because what these 3 don't know is that I also have a direct link to Jane's dance studio. A little certain someone I met in the second grade actually." Jordan nodded.
"Do you know who?" Sienna looked at Abby.
She shook her head.
"Grant, you know how you mentioned that little sibling rivalry we have." He looked at Grant.
Grant nodded.
"Well, we're going to have another today. My rep, she doesn't need an introduction." He pointed to the senior junior section.

Olivia looked at Abby and smiled.
"Not uh." Abby smiled.
Olivia nodded and stood up.
"Come on!" Oaken yelled and threw his head back as she made her way down.
"God Jord you just had to!" Grant yelled and threw his clip board on the ground as Jordan handed her a red hanky and a ear mic.
Both girls looked terrified. Will looked entertained as hell as he clapped.
"How you guys doing." Olivia smiled and put her ear piece in. "Little brother." She smirked at Oaken.
"You suck." He nodded. "And now I'm getting you back for it."
"Whatever you say little boy." She nodded and threw her hair in a pony tail.
"Everyone, the Junior Class Jane's Rep, Captain of Jane's Competition team, Olivia Pate!" Jordan clapped.
"OK, so, I lied." I nodded.
"Eh, Ol hasn't been dancing for a few weeks. Will may have her." Connor nodded.
Ryan, Ben and I just looked at him.
"Yeah, we're losing." Connor nodded.
"You think?" We all shook our heads.
"Now what we've done is come up with a playlist, which we will have on shuffle on the projector at the front of the gym." Austin pointed to the big screen. Each song will be chose at random." He smiled.
"Our Jane's reps, please step to the center and pick your number." Jordan smiled. "We'll read them off by class, youngest to oldest."
Layla reached in and pulled out a piece of paper. "Oaken and I got 2." She smiled.
Delaney reached in and pulled out a piece of paper. "We got 1." She smiled at Austin.
"It looks like we're having a good old upper classmen vs lower classmen challenge." Grant nodded. "Olivia, you're up girl." He smiled.
She reached in and smiled. "Looks like that sibling rivalry is starting early." She looked at Jordan. "We got 2."
"Which means ours is going to have to wait little brother, because that gives us 1."
"That also means, sophomores vs seniors is up first." Jordan smiled.
"You two are going down." Delaney shook her head.
"Little girl, don't forget who helped teach you these dances." Will laughed.
"Oh, do you still remember them?" She crossed her arms and smiled. "You know, in your old age and all."
Will and Grants jaws both dropped and they just looked at each other.
"Oh!" Olivia yelled in to the microphone and laughed.
Grant nodded. "Well, now you two are going to get schooled by two grown men."
"Who are the two grown men." Austin shook his head. "I don't see any."
"Ha!" Principle Phillips laughed then raised his hand out in front of him. "Sorry."
"Oh my god, giving them mics was a great idea." Ryan laughed.
Grant smiled and nodded. "Alright. Alright. Jord do the honors and hit that button."
"So the trash talking begins." Jordan laughed and pushed a button on the laptop.
The list ran through a few times and landed on Wop by J-Dash.
Austin and Delaney got real quiet.
"Oh where'd your trash talk go Laney. You nervous now." Will laughed.
"Where'd your hair line go old man? Shouldn't you be getting back to the senior citizens home?" She raised her eyebrows.
Literally, everyone in the gym started laughing.
"Hey Will, you need a little bit of ice for that one." Oaken laughed.
Will pursed his lips and nodded. "Ouch."
"Seniors and sophomores, to the center." Jordan smiled as he and Oaken also stepped forward.
"The coin toss." Oaken held up a coin. "Is going to decided who goes first. Since Grant and Will are dying over here, we're gonna let them call it." He flipped the coin.
"Green." Grant nodded.
"And, it's green." Jordan nodded as it hit the floor. "What'll it be boys, first or second?"
"We're gonna finish them off and go second." Will nodded.
"Alright." Jordan smiled. "Olivia, do me a favor and hit that play button if you would."
Olivia laughed, and hit play.
Now, lets be honest. Delaney, she can dance. Austin however can not.
The second round of chorus came, and Grant also, can not dance. But Will, he demolished literally all of them.
The crowd decided that the seniors did in fact win.
"Looks like the old man still has a little bit of oomph, huh Delaney." Will smiled at her.
"Well, pardon me for not being able to flip." She laughed.
"Freshman, Juniors, step on up." Grant smiled.
Olivia, Jordan, Oaken, and Layla all stepped to the center.
"You ready for your song?" Austin smiled.
They all nodded.
The list ran through again and it landed on Walk It Out by Unk.
Olivia got the biggest smile on her face.
"Oh boy, the sister Pate is happy about this one." Austin nodded.
"I don't know why, I do it better than her." Oaken shrugged.
"Boy, I helped teach you to actually walk." Olivia nodded. "Now I'm gonna show you how to walk it out." She smiled.
"Well the girls are just going in with the come backs today." Grant laughed.
"What's the matter little one." Jordan smiled at Layla. "Are you nervous."
"The only thing I'm nervous about it being stepped on with those clown feet." She nodded and pointed at the ground.
His jaw dropped and Olivia just laughed.
We were all laughing.
"He really does have big ass feet." Havannah laughed.
"How's it feel little brother." Grant laughed.
"Ouch." Jordan shook his head.
"Hey." Ben leaned over. "Who do we root for?"
"I don't know." Ryan shook his head.
"I'm stuck." Connor scrunched his face.
"I mean, I wanna see Oaken whoop her ass. But I also want to see Olivia and Will battle it out." I nodded.
"How about we just yell equally?" Abby looked up at us.
We all nodded.
"Since Layla just destroyed Jordan a little bit, we're gonna have the Freshman call this one." Austin flipped the coin.
"Red." Oaken nodded.
"And, it's red." Grant smiled. "Oaken?"
"We're gonna go first." He smiled.
Now, Olivia being Oaken's sister really paid off for him. Because he and Layla, they really killed that.
But, Olivia and Jordan also killed that with hitting the folks on both of them.
The crowd, they were equally as loud for both teams.
"Looks like we're about to have our first tie breaker." Grant clapped.
"Jane's reps, step to the middle please." Austin motioned in front of him.
Olivia and Layla both stepped to the circle.
"Principle Phillips, spin this wheel!" Jordan clapped.
He walked to the center of the gym, and with one giant throw, the wheel started spinning.
"And the song is." Grant waited for it to stop. "Medicine by JLO."
Layla's face instantly got worried.
Olivia tapped her ear piece turning it off and stepped in front of her. She turned her ear piece off too.
She said a few things and Layla nodded.
Olivia said a few things and looked toward Will, then back to Layla.
Layla nodded again.
Olivia turned Layla's ear piece back on and walked over to Will.
He turned his ear piece off and crossed his arms as Olivia talked to him.
"What is going on?" Connor leaned down to Abby.
"Layla does better when people are yelling encouragement. Ol knows that. She's probably asking Will to do that for Layla."
Will smiled and nodded. They both walked back over to Layla and Will hugged her.
He kept his piece off and Olivia turned hers back on.
"Everyone, lets here it for Olivia and Will for their good sportsmanship." Oaken clapped.
Everyone started clapping.
"Ladies, are we ready." Jordan looked at both of them.
Layla looked over at Will. He smiled and nodded.
"We are Jord." Olivia smiled.
"Grant, hit that play button."
With Will yelling encouragement to Layla, she sure held her own against Olivia. But Olivia she got her.
Oh boy did she get her.
Which means, the seniors and juniors are battling it out to see who the better class is today.
But first, the sophomores and freshman had to battle it out for 3rd and 4th.
It ended in another tie breaker. Which was to Lose Control by Missy Elliot. I understand why Delaney and Layla wanted Will and Olivia in their corners, because there is no way a normal person would be able to do a hand stand, tap their feet together, and not fall.
But god did it look cool.
The Freshman won it because Layla broke down to the floor and kept going when Delaney stopped and didn't improvise enough.
"Here we have it ladies and gentleman." Austin clapped.
"Juniors, Seniors, step to the center." Oaken smiled.
Olivia, Will, Grant, and Jordan stepped to the center.
"The brothers show down." Austin nodded. "Oaken, push shuffle for me."
Oaken pushed shuffle and it landed on Do It Like Me by DLOW.
Olivia and Will both smiled.
"I think this ones gonna be good." Sienna nodded.
"Since the Seniors are the only team to have not had a tie, we're gonna have them call the flip." Oaken nodded. "Boys." He flipped the coin.
"Red." Will crossed his arms.
"And, its Green." Austin nodded. "Juniors."
Olivia and Jordan looked at each other. "We'll go first." Jordan nodded.
"Oaken, do your thing." Austin smiled.
Now this, was an extremely difficult one. Grant stepped up his game, Jordan can twerk, but Olivia and Will carried the whole thing ending in yet again another tie.
Will turned his headphone off and walked over to Olivia.
She turned hers off too. And then she started smiling and nodding as they talked and they went back to their class reps.
"So, Olivia and Will have decided to do this tie differently." Grant nodded. "Olivia and Will want to put on a little show for you all. SO they've asked if they can shuffle their own playlists, and pick a song for each other to freestyle to."
"Principle Phillips, is that alright by you?" Jordan looked across the gym.
"As long as the songs are the clean version." He nodded.
"Alright." Jordan smiled.
"We're going to mirror each of their phones on to the big screen so we know it's fair. And since Olivia has yet to chose her fate, we're going to let her decide." Austin nodded.
"Hmm." Olivia rubbed her chin. "I think Mr. Grayson here is going to go first." She nodded.
He nodded. "Alright. Lets see what you got."
Olivia pulled her phone out, and the projector connected.
Her screen was a picture of Oaken and Connor kissing her cheeks.
"Awe." I pouted and looked at Connor.
"Shut up, it was after the Saunders thing at the Cabin." He shook his head.
"I think it cute." Sienna turned and smiled at him.
"I think you're cute." He smiled.
"Oh Jesus Christ." Josh laughed.
Olivia pulled up her 'My Entire Spotify' playlist, and hit shuffle.
Top Off by DJ Khaled, Jay Z, Future, and Beyonce popped up.
Will pursed his lips and nodded. "OK." He smiled. "I can do something with that."
"We'll see." Olivia smiled and shrugged.
Will, did in fact do something with that. From dropping low, to moving right along with the syllables, a few leg kicks and some floor work.
And now, it was Olivia's turn.
His screensaver when he connected his phone, that pissed me off slightly. It was a picture of him and Olivia during their teachers pet routine.
"What the fuck." Ben raised his eyebrows.
Connor took a deep breath. "She's grown, she's 16, if she wants to date Grayson, all for it." He shook his head.
"She's not in to Will." Carter and Ryan both looked at me, then at each other.
"That's just weird." Sienna shook her head and looked at them.
Will pushed shuffle, and Do It Like a Dude by Jessie J popped up.
Olivia smiled.
"Can you even free style anymore Liv, or is it all routine for you now?" Will crossed his arms.
She raised her eyebrows. "Oh so that's what we're doing. I'm taking you to school."
"I mean, hip hop and pointe are two different things." He shrugged. "You still got hip hop moves?"
"Watch and learn." Olivia nodded and took her hair out.
The minute Olivia got in his face, took his hat, put it on and dropped low to the ground in a split, he knew he had just lost.
The amount of cheering for her confirmed it.
Olivia looked all too pleased.
All the reps had to go out in to the hallway to take pictures while Phillips announced the academic awards. Connor, myself, and both the boys and girls teams made it to our locker rooms.
But when I went to walk in to the hallway to see if Olivia was still out there, I heard Will's voice.
I peaked my head around the corner just enough to see.
"OK, so you still have hip hop skills." He nodded.
"You think?" Olivia laughed. "You never lose them bub." She patted his shoulder.

The Supernormal
In a world where fantasy has become everyday, one man stands against absurdity. The local Tower stomps through the streets. Any hedge could contain a witch. Walls regularly crumble, though none more often than the fourth. In the magical city of Blackpool, all ridiculousness is possible, and it takes everything for Jack Of All Trades to survive. Badly, at that. Perpetually late with his rent, he'll take up arms for any paying customer in order to fulfill his quest. His obstacles include polka-loving ghosts, card-game playing vampires, and the most vicious monsters of all: copyright lawyers. When he's joined by an arrogant magus and an insecure vampire, his life gets even more complicated, but no matter what kind of infuriating choose-your-own-adventure he finds himself on, one constant remains—his rent is due at the end of the month. On second thoughts, maybe he should stay in bed. The Supernormal isn't your average web-novel. It's an urban fantasy parody that saunters through a world full of the absurd, delighting in poking fun at popular media, widely-accepted ideas, and often itself. Story arcs only loosely connect through the characters, who are themselves slowly fleshed out as the story continues. Think of Discworld meets The Dresden Files meets Gintama. This novel won't be for everyone, but if it is for you, you're in for a hell of a ride.
