Oh god today has been a mind fuck of a day.
Never in my life have I felt more threatened when it comes to a girl. But come on, first I've got Saunders. And Will potentially. Now I have to worry about my cousin, Carter Pruitt, Ritchie, almost Jaylen, and god knows who else.
And I handled it wrong. I did. I admit that. I shouldn't have been mad at her because people were asking her out. But hiding the fact that my cousin took her virginity, I had grounds to be pissed about that.
I needed to talk to someone, before I did do something impulsive. And I didn't just chose Oaken because he's the only one who knows. I wanted to talk to Oaken, because he loves both of us. He see's how hard I'm trying. And who better to talk to about this than the 14 year old who can actually hold a relationship. But, thank you Ben for teaching him how to talk to his girlfriend about his feelings.
"So, how was you guys day?" My dad looked at the 3 of us.
"Stressful." Olivia nodded.
"What's the matter baby?" Jason gave her a look.
"Just, wasn't the day I expected before tomorrow." She shrugged.
"Mason?" Dad asked.
"Well, it's 7 and I'm ready for bed." I nodded.
"I'm gonna be going to bed after dinner." Olivia nodded. "I actually need to sleep for tomorrow."
"What time do you have to go pick Connor up?" Jason looked at me.
"He said like, 10:30-11:00." I shrugged. "I mean, if he had a car I wouldn't have to."
"He shouldn't have wrecked his last 2 if he wanted a car." Jason nodded. "Why doesn't he just spend the night with Hannah?"
"Hilary." I pursed my lips.
"Oh jesus christ, it was Hannah 2 days ago." My dad rolled his eyes.
"He said he wants to be home to leave for the competition tomorrow." I nodded.
"Speaking of." Olivia looked at Oaken. "Are you bringing Amb-"
"Ol!" Oaken yelled.
"Oh shit, I'm sorry Oak. I didn't mean to." She shook her head.
He sighed and threw his head back.
"Who?" My dad gave him a look.
He shook his head.
Olivia sighed. "Ok. Now I'm telling you both. No innapropriate comments. No picking. No embarassing him. Understand?" She pointed at both the dads.
"Ok?" They both nodded.
"Oaken has a girlfriend." She nodded. "Amber, she's Abby's little cousin. And he went through something this weekend involving a certain subject that you two like to pick about. And it's a big deal."
"You have a girlfriend?" Jason raised his eyebrows.
He nodded. "We just started dating before the trip up to the valley."
"What's going on buddy?" My dad pursed his lips.
"Nothing." He shook his head.
"Come on Oak Tree, jokes and comments aside. What's going on?" Jason nodded.
He looked at me and Ol. "I don't think they're going to joke Oak. Especially if you explain." I nodded.
He sighed. "I found out that Amber has had sex before. And, I got really insecure about it because I've felt really pressured to be like Connor." He nodded. "I feel like I'm always competeing with Connor for girls, because well, he's Connor, and the only reason Shayna was talking to me was because of him. And Ben made a comment because they had to talk me down about the whole thing, which, they did help, told me to listen to my body, don't do anything uncomfortable, make my intentions clear. But, I guess, the thought of it freaks me out a little bit."

"Oaken we didn't know you felt that way about it." His dad shook his head.
"If we had something to do with that I'm sorry." My dad nodded.
"But they are right. You don't need to make yourself uncomfortable to make someone else feel good, especailly when it comes to that. All you need is to be honest." Jason gave him a small smile. "Is that why you havent brought her around? Because of us?"
He nodded.
"Is this someone you're serious about?"
He nodded.
"Then that's all you have to say. But, you've gotta give us the benefit of the doubt, and let her meet us if you want it to go somewhere." Jason nodded. "That, and if your mom finds out that you have a girlfriend and I'm the reason you haven't brought her over, she'll kill me."
Oaken looked at Olivia. "Can I do something illegal?" He pursed his lips then looked at Jason.
Olivia sighed. "It's only 4 miles to her house. You wreck my car, I will kill you." She nodded.
"Wait really?" I looked at her.
"And you two sleep in the living room." Jason nodded.
Oaken pulled out his phone and put it on speaker.
A; Hi handsome.
O: Can I come get you?
A; Wait, why?
O: Because I want you to meet my dad, and my mom in the morning. He said we could spend the night in the living room, and since it's only 4 miles, Olivia is letting me drive.
A; You want me to meet your parents.
"Yes, Amber. He does. And I would like to meet you, and I'm sure Holly would too." Jason yelled.
A; Hi Mr. Pate.
"Jason baby." He smiled.
A; Let me pack a bag.
O: I'm on my way.
Oaken smiled and hung up the phone. He walked over, gave Olivia a kiss on the cheek, and hugged her. "I love you."
"Uh, huh. I love you too." She smiled and nodded.
He looked at my dad and Jason. "Thank you." He nodded.
They both nodded.
"Call if something happens, and I will come get you and bring Ol to drive her car back." I nodded.
He nodded and walked out.
"So, I get a new car if he wrecks mine, right?" Olivia pursed her lips.
"You let him drive it." Jason shrugged.
She sighed. "I am going to go shower, and go to sleep." She nodded and left the table.
"Good night." I nodded.
She let out a small smile. "Goodnight." She walked out of the kitchen.
I turned back around and both of the dads were just staring at me with raised eyebrows.
"What?" I shook my head.
"You gonna tell us what happened last weekend, or just sit here and assume we've let it go." My dad shrugged.
I sighed. "So you know." I nodded.
"Know what kiddo?" My dad crossed his arms.
"That Ol and I are seeing eachother." I pursed my lips.
"Whoah, hold on, excuse me?" Jason held up his hand.
"Isn't that what you're talking about?" I gave them a look.
"No." They both shook their heads.
"We just thought you two may have had sex again." My dad nodded.
"Oh god, what did I just do." I leaned back and threw my head back.
"Who all knows about this?" Jason shook his head.
"Oaken. And now you two." I nodded. And then I thought for a minute. "But uh, since you two know now, maybe you could help me with something?"

"Oh god, what did you do." My dad shook his head.
"I, asked Ol out of a date tomorrow, and I was now hoping, that maybe you two could cover for us incase Connor comes home." I pursed my lips.
"Holy fuck this is real, isn't it." My dad raised his eyebrows.
"I literally just got her to grasp that this was real, I don't need you two doing it too." I nodded.
They both just looked at eachother. "We'll help, if you explain you guys' situation." Jason sighed.
"From which part?" I scrunched my face.
"Lets start with this weekend." He sighed.
I took a deep breath. "Saturday night, I told Olivia that I have feelings for her." I nodded. "And we decided that we're going to attempt to see if something could happen with us. So, she is giving me three months to prove that I can be the guy for her. Which is her idea. And I asked her if this could mean that we are seeing eachother. With conditions."
"Which are?" My dad gave me a look.
"No sleeping with anyone. Her idea. No one knows. Both of our idea. And if I make it the three months, I get a girlfriend." I nodded.
"Why is no one knowing?"
"Because after the three months and we figure out what is going to happen, then we are going to tell Connor. And if Connor is the last one to know, he's going to be even more pissed off. But, I need to know if I have a chance."
"And you agree'd to sleeping wih no one else?" Jason shook his head.
I nodded.
"And if this does work out?"
"I end up with Olivia, and potentially losing my bestfriend if he doesn't understand." I pursed my lips.
"And if it doesn't?"
"Two things. I lose my bestfriend and the only girl I've ever had feelings for. Or I keep my bestfriend, and lose Olivia as not just a girlfriend, but a friend to. But, I have to try." I nodded.
"So you're willing to throw away your friendship with Connor, who is like your brother, because you want to sleep with his sister?" My dad pursed his lips.
"I don't want to sleep with Olivia." I shook my head. "I want to be with Olivia. I want to be happy. And, she makes me happy. I obviously don't want to lose Connor. But I don't want to keep wondering what could happen with her, when I've wanted her for the past 4 years and was never able to actually say it. So please, don't say anything, to anyone, including the moms. Not until we figure things out."
They both sighed and looked at eachother.
Jason leaned forward and folded his hands on the table. "I, am going to tell you the same thing I did Cameron." He nodded. "There are 4 rules to dating my daughter. 1, you ever put your hands on her, I will murder you. I work in the oil fields, I know plenty of places to hide a body."
"2." My dad crossed his arms and leaned back. "If you are having sex, you do it protected. Condoms. You get her pregnant in highschool, we will both murder you." He nodded.
"Oh god." I pursed my lips.
"3. You never let her forget to take her birth conrtol pills. Ever." Jason shook his head.
"I didn't even know she was on it." I shook my head.
"Yeah, should've been a conversation you two had before you two started sleeping together." My dad rolled his eyes.
"We didn't plan it." I looked down.
"You weren't planned but, here you are kiddo." He nodded.
"And 4. You handle her heart with care. Do not break it. Because her heart, is a good one. We raised her to have the heart she does. They all do. They might not be seen that way. But they are."
"Deal." I nodded.
"Then yes. We will cover for you tomorrow." He nodded. "But if my wife, or your mother find out about this, we had no idea."
"Ok."
"You really are serious about this aren't you." My dad shook his head.
"Well, we're having this conversation, and I just sat here and told my bestfriends dad that I'm seeing his daughter. So you tell me." I pursed my lips.
"Well, it's pretty impossibleto get someone better than Olivia." He nodded.
"And the only thing I have to worry about with you is an STD." Jason shrugged.
And then we heard the front door.
"Don't embarass him." I shook my head.
They both held their hands up and swore.
Oaken and Amber came walking in to the kitchen.
"Ol go to bed?" He asked.
I nodded. "Hi Amber."
"Hi Mason." She nodded.
"Uh, this is my dad." I pointed at him.
"Hi Mr. Hollow." She let out a small smile.
"Hank honey. It's nice to meet you Amber." He smiled.
"And, this is my dad, Jason."
"Hi Amber." Jason nodded.
"I can't believe he's finally letting me meet you." She smiled.
"You guys only started dating a week ago." He gave her a look.
"But we've been talking for almost a month." She nodded.
He looked at Oaken, and Oaken just pursed his lips.
Jason sighed. "Well, it's nice to meet you sweetheart. Why don't you come in, sit down, and tell us a little bit about you. You hungry?"
"Starving." She smiled.
They both walked in and sat down.
"So Amber, what do you like to do. Activity's, sports?" My dad asked.
"Uhm, I'm in the performing arts program at school." She nodded.
"Really? Singing, acting or instrumental?" Jason smiled.
"Intrumental. I play the piano."
"So does Oakens mom." He nodded.
"And I play basketball." She smiled.
"What position do you play?" My dad smiled.
"Shooting guard." She nodded.
"I like that." Jason nodded. "Shooting guards aren't scared to miss, they just try again."
"And, I've recently taken an interest in baseball." She looked at Oaken and smiled.
"You know, Oaken is one of the very few kids in this town that has never been struck out?" I nodded.
"Really?" She asked him.
"It's not a big deal." He shook his head.
"It's a huge deal Oak." Jason nodded. "You know, maybe sometime, Oaken can take you down to the batting cages, show you how to swing."
"Dad." His eyes got wide.
"No, I would love that. Can we actually do that." She smiled.
"Would you want to do that?" He gave her a look.
"Oaken you love it." She shook her head. "You've sat at my house and heard me fail at La camppanella 12 times before I actually got it, and you sit and watch me throw free throws for hours. It's my turn to do something you love." She pursed her lips.
He smiled and nodded. "Ok. We can go tomorrow after Ol and Abby's competition."
"And you can just walk down the street and go see a movie afterward." My dad nodded.
"And maybe Olivia can take you guys, drop you off, or maybe just, stick around and watch the movie." Jason pursed his lips and looked at me.
Oaken gave me a look, then looked at the dads, then back to me. "Do they know?"
I nodded.
"How." He shook his head.
"I'm a dumbass." I pursed my lips.
"So I've heard." Amber nodded.
The dad's both choked back a laugh and I looked at Oaken.
"No from me." He shrugged.
"I like her." My dad nodded.
"But, can I know?" She asked.
"Can you keep a secret? From everyone, including Abby?" I gave her a look.
She nodded.
"Olivia and I, we're seeing eachother, until I can prove myself to her that I can be the guy for her. And the only people that know, are here in this room." I nodded.
"Uhm, maybe, Olivia could take us on most of our dates. Drop us off. And no one is going to think anything unusual if you have plans. So, she can, meet you. Or you can come too." She shrugged.
I smiled and looked at Oaken. "I like her." I nodded.
"Me too." He smiled and nodded.
And then there was a knock.

[Discontinued] Armus : First Draft
THIS FICTION HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED. I don't recommend reading this, since the chapters are a bit haphazard (containing new edits which don't really fit in with the latter half of the story).

Living With Magic
Arthur, a young magician, is struggling with crippling social anxiety. The issue has reached a point where he likely won't graduate from University. Reaching a crossroads, he must decide whether to try and return to a family he despises or make his own path in the world. Is the magical power he has actually beneficial in the real world? Authors Note: I'm terrible at writing a synopsis, but over time I hope to write a better one. One of my favorite series of books is the Magicians by Lev Grossman and I hope to follow that same line of thinking within my story. How would a society built around magic actually exist and is power and magic actually as great as other stories make it out to be? The story and characters will be completely original and I will try to update the story on a regular basis. Also, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
