I woke up the next morning to my phone going off.
Cameron was face timing me.
I answered my phone.
"Hello." I wiped my eyes.
"Good morning gorgeous." He smiled.
"Good morning." I reached over to my end stand and grabbed my glasses.
"What are you doing today since I know it's your break day?" He laughed.
"This." I nodded. "Staying in my bed, watching old reality shows, and avoiding the shit show downstairs."
"Or maybe I could take you to the mall?" He smiled.
"For what babe?" I gave him a look.
"Well, I was wondering if maybe you wanted to go get your nails done?" He pursed his lips.
"My nails are done Cam." I let out a small laugh.
"Yes, but you've had them for three weeks now, and I want to take you to get your nails done." He raised his eyebrows.
"You don't have to do that." I shook my head.
"Olivia, you stood up to Connor last night for me, I want to do something nice for you." He pouted. "Please."
I smiled. "OK." I nodded. "Let me get in the shower and dressed. So I'll meet you in like an hour?"
"Or I could pick you up in 45." He smiled.
"Connor and Mason are-"
He cut me off. "Liv." He gave me a look.
"Right." I nodded. "45."
"See you soon gym monkey." He smiled.
"Juice Head." I smiled and hung up.
I rolled out of bed, walked in to my bathroom, turned music on over my speaker and got in the shower.
I was washing my hair when I heard my door open.
"In the shower!" I yelled.
"I have to piss Ollie!" I heard Mason yell as he walked in.
"So use Connors!"
"He is!"
"Again, I'm in the shower!" I rolled my eyes.
"That's alright, I don't mind!" He laughed.
"Go the fuck home!" I yelled.
"Nah. Who sings this song?" He asked.
"Pretty sure it's Lucidious. Phones on the counter." I shook my head. "I know you're done going to the bathroom. Get out."
"Nah, I like the music, and it smells good in here."
"Yes, Mason, it's called soap. You should try it sometime." I started washing my face.
"What are all these bottles on your counter. The purple ones."
"Its for my hair. Get out."
"You need all this for your hair?"
"When I don't straighten it. It's to help tame the curls."
"So this is why you haven't looked like a poodle the past few days."
"Mason, get the hell out!"
"Nah. Would any of these masks help exfoliate my face?"
"Jesus Christ. Uhm, there's a grey bottle. Its black sugar and charcoal."
It was quiet for a minute.
"Are you gone?"
"It's grainy Ol."
"That's the sugar genius. Get out so I can get out!"
"Just get out, there's nothing for me to look at anyway."
I rolled my eyes. Reached out and got my towel. I wrapped it around my body and got out.
"Get out so I can get dressed."
"Again, it smells good in here. I like the music. I'll turn around and read your shower stuff."
"You can read?" I gave him a look. "I cant believe you really put that on."
"Skin care is important Oliver." He shook his head and turned around. He literally stood in my shower.

I rolled my eyes and started getting dressed.
"You really need all this to wash your hair?"
"Depends on what I'm doing with my hair. If it's just straightening, I wash and condition with the moisture lock. If I'm not doing anything with it, I wash with the moisture lock and condition with Miracle Curl."
"Would it work on my curls?"
"I don't know Mason, probably." I shook my head.
I threw on a pair of leggings and a plain white t-shirt. "Now get out."
He turned around. "What, you don't like talking to me?"
"No." I shook my head and flipped it upside down. I ran mousse through my hair.
"What's that do?"
"Why the sudden interest in my hair products?" I looked up and gave him a look.
"They smell nice." He shrugged.
"Such a shock that I could smell nice." I rolled my eyes.
"Uhm, no, I said they smell nice, not you. What's it do?"
"It locks curls in, now get out." I flipped my head up and pulled my mascara out.
"Nope." He laughed as I wiped the brush on my eyelashes.
I shook my head and walked out of my bathroom. "Then stay by yourself."
I grabbed my phone and bag, and walked down to the kitchen with Mason following.
"Connor, keep your friend out of my bathroom." I rolled my eyes and walked to the fridge.
"What the hell is on your face?" Connor gave Mason a look.
"Ollie?" Mason pursed his lips.
"As I'm in the shower, he questioned me about my hair care products, wouldn't leave because they smelled good."
"And I liked the music." Mason nodded.
"And then asked if I had anything to exfoliate his face. It's charcoal and black sugar." I shook my head and took a drink from my water bottle. "Mom, I'm going to the mall with Cam."
"No you're not." Connor shook his head.
"Connor shut up." My mom smacked the back of his head. "For what baby?"
"He asked if he could take me to get my nails done." I shrugged.
"Why?" Connor gave me a look.
"Because he wants to do something nice for me. Mind your business." I scrunched my face.
"We can take you to go get your nails done shit brick." Mason crossed his arms.
"You see, I actually like spending time with Cam. I don't even like the two of you." I shook my head.
They both flipped me off.
"Well I think that's sweet. Why don't you use your card and buy some new leo's for dance this year." My mom smiled.
"Oh god, I completely forgot I needed new ones." I pursed my lips
"Why do you need new ones?" Connor raised his eyebrows.
"Because her ass got fat and they squish her chest." Oaken laughed walking in to the kitchen.
"You really want to do this?" I gave him a look. "After I got you Shayna's number?"
"You helped him do that?" Mason gave me a look.
"Believe it or not, I am a girl. I know how to talk to one." I rolled my eyes.
"So do we." Connor crossed his arms.
"I showed him the right way." I smiled.
The doorbell went off.
"Olivia." My dad yelled from the hallway. "Cameron's here."
"In the kitchen." I yelled.
Cameron came walking in.
"Hi pretty." He kissed my cheek.

"Miss Holly." He hugged my mom.
"Hi sweetie. How are you?" She smiled at him.
"I'm great. How are you?"
"Good." She nodded.
"Oak." Cam dapped him up.
"Cameron." He nodded.
Cameron looked over at Connor and Mason. "What's on your face?"
"Don't talk to me." Mason shook his head.
"Go home!" I threw my head back.
"When he goes home, so will Mason." Connor gave me a look.
"Thumb sucker." I crossed my arms.
"Bitch." He crossed his arms as well.
"Go to the mall Olivia." My mom rolled her eyes.
"Tell him to keep his mouth shut when we get back." I shook my head.
"Or just spend time in your room." My mom gave me a look.
"Uh, no." Connor shook his head.
"Good bye." I grabbed Cameron's hand and lead him out the door.
We were finally to the mall and got to the nail salon.
"So what color nails are you getting this time?" Cam asked as we walked in.
"How about you pick?" I smiled at him.
"Really?" He smiled.
"Other than the length, you can pick everything." I let out a small laugh.
"Ah, Olivia." My nail stylist came over and hugged me.
"Glenda." I smiled.
"Who is cute boy?" She looked over at him.
"This is Cameron." I let out another small laugh. "My boyfriend."
"OO, you lucky boy. She smart, very pretty." Glenda nodded.
"Very lucky." Cameron nodded and smiled.
"What we do today Olivia?" She smiled.
"Uhm, same length as usual, he's picking everything else." I smiled.
"You look really good in purple. Maybe this one?" He picked a bottle off the shelf.
"OK, one more cute boy." Glenda nodded.
"How about this sparkly purple one?" He pulled the other bottle off the shelf.
"Good choice cute boy." Glenda nodded.
She pulled me over to her nail station and I sat down. "What shape we do?" She looked over at him. She pulled out her shape sheet.
He looked down at it. "Uhm." He looked it over. "I like this coffin one."
"OK." She smiled and started taking my nails off.
"I like her." Cam nodded. "She calls me cute boy."
"Cause you cute boy." Glenda smiled at him.
I smiled at him too. "She's not wrong."
"Does that hurt?" He looked down at my hands.
I shook my head. "No. The acetone makes them come off easier. Glenda does my nails every time."
"I know what Olivia like." Glenda nodded. "Abby too. Pook get pedicure."
"Pook?" He gave me a look.
"Josh." I nodded. "We call him Pook."
"He gets his nails done?" He asked.
"Not his fingernails, but his feet yes. Pedicures you soak your feet in a sort of hot tub for your feet, they rub your feet, clear dead skin, lotion them, un-knot your shins, and shape your toe nails." I let out a small laugh.
He pursed his lips. "Does it feel good?"
"Yes." I nodded. "You know guys can get pedicures without being gay?"
"Oh yes cute boy. Olivia dad get pedicure once month." Glenda nodded.
"Your dad?" He raised his eyebrows.
"He has bad feet." I nodded. "So when he's on his two weeks off from work, since he works two weeks on. He makes it a point to come with Abby, Josh, and I to get one."
He pursed his lips again. "You promise guys do this?"
"I promise." I let out another small laugh. "Are you thinking about getting one?"
He nodded.
"Ryhlo!" Glenda yelled.
Ryhlo, Glenda's brother came walking over. "Yes Gendila?"
"Cute boy want pedicure." Glenda nodded.
"OK, OK." He nodded. "Come." He motioned toward the pedicure chair.
"It doesn't hurt?" Cameron looked at me.
I shook my head. "No, it doesn't hurt."
He took a deep breath. "OK."
He got up and followed Ryhlo.
"He good boyfriend." Glenda smiled.
"He is." I nodded.
"Where Abby an Pook?" She asked shaping my nails.
"Pook's. Still asleep. They drank a lot." I gave her a straight smile.
She shook her head. "Too young. Hurt brain."
"I try telling them." I nodded.
"You drink too, no lie." She gave me a look.
"You caught me." I smiled.
"You dance this year? Karika dance this year." She nodded.
"I am." I nodded. "Karika will be in the 7 year old class right?"
She nodded. "She love dance."
"Good." I smiled. "Dance is great to get in to."
"She like when you help her class."
"I love helping." I nodded.
My phone went off.
It was a snap chat from Abby.
She had her sleepy face on with Josh. 'Where are you?'
I took a picture with Glenda. 'Nails.'
She snapped back with a frown. 'You went without us.'
I took a picture of Cam getting his pedicure. 'Wasn't my idea. He wanted to do something nice for me. Couldn't refuse *heart*'
She snapped back. 'Is he getting a pedi?'
I smiled 'He is. Glenda told him about my dad and josh getting them.'
'That's hilarious. Have fun with your boy. Call later.'
"Abby like cute boy?" Glenda asked.
"She does." I nodded. "Pook too."
"Good. Friend support good." She nodded. "You done baby. Lamp dry."
I left my nails under the lamp for about 10 minutes. Glenda told me I was good to go and Cam walked back over to me.
"My feet are so soft." He laughed.
"I told you." I shrugged.
"How much do I owe you Glenda?" He smiled at her.
"I give you Olivia discount. $50." She smiled.
"That's it?" He gave her a look.
She nodded. "Olivia loyal."
"Good to know." He swiped his debit card.
"Thank you cute boy." She smiled.
"And thank you." He smiled and grabbed my hand.
We walked out. "Do you mind if we stop somewhere before we leave?"
"Sure babe, where?" He looked down at me.
"Dance pro. I need to get new leos for this year." I nodded.
"Sure." He smiled.
"How was your pedicure?" I asked.
"Great, but you could've told me he was going to physically beat the hell out of my shins Olivia." He smiled and shook his head.
I laughed. "I said un-knot your shins."
"Un-knot, not punch." He laughed.
We walked in to Dance Pro and looked around.
"How long have you been dancing?" He asked as I pulled a few off the racks.
"Uhm, 12 years now I think." I nodded.
"Really?" He raised his eyebrows.
"Really." I nodded. "3 days a week in studio, every day on my own."
"What kind of dance do you do?"
"Tap, ballet, acro, and theatrical." I smiled. "What do you think of this one?" I held up a bright green leo with maroon straps.
"I like it." He smiled.
"Do you mind if I try them on? So I can make sure they fit."
"Oh god no. Go for it." He nodded.
We walked over to the dressing rooms and he sat down.
I pulled my extra tights out of my purse.
"You carry tights in your purse?" He gave me a look.
"First rule of being a dancer, always have an extra pair in each bag." I gave him a straight smile and walked in the dressing room.
The first one was black with kind of like a rainbow sequin front. I put on my tights, put on the leo and walked out.
"What do you think about this one?" I asked him.
"I think it's cute. But shouldn't the only thing that matters be that it's comfortable?"
I smiled. "You're right." I nodded.
"If it's comfortable, then I like it." He smiled.
I walked back in and put on a multi pastel colored one with Aztec designs on it. I walked back out.
"Are those supposed to make your butt look that phenomenal?" He let out a small laugh.
"Yes, yes they are." I smiled.
"Then." he clapped. "I love that one!"
I smiled and rolled my eyes then walked back in and put on the green and maroon one. I walked back out.
"So, I can watch you dance right? Like recitals and competitions?" He smiled.
"If you want to yes." I nodded.
"In that?" He smirked.
"In a dance costume, yes. These are for practicing." I shook my head.
"Can I just look at you in this one then, because this is my favorite." He nodded.
I did a double spin and an ending pose on my toes.
"You looked so good doing that." He smiled.
"Well thank you Juice Head."
"My little gym monkey is a dancer, anything you can't do?" He let out a small laugh.
"Swim." I nodded.
"We can work on that." He smiled.
I walked back in the dressing room and put my clothes back on. The other two were just basic pink and black for ballet.
I walked out, paid for my leo's, and we went back to my house.
We walked through the door and in to the kitchen.
I saw my dads bags packed and sitting on the table.
"I forgot you've been home for two weeks already." I looked down.
"It's only two weeks baby." My dad walked over and hugged me.
"I know, doesn't mean I like it." I shook my head and wrapped my arms around him.
"It always goes by fast, just like every time, OK?" He rubbed my shoulders. "You got my girl while I'm gone boy?" He pointed at Cameron.
He nodded. "I do."
"We've got her dad." Connor came walking in to the kitchen with Mason.
"You're still here" I threw my head back.
"Aren't I always?" Mason smiled.
"Go home!" I pointed out the back door.
"I don't like watching my dad leave, so no." He shook his head.
My mom walked in to the kitchen in her scrubs. "Olivia, I got called in to work. Can you handle dinner?"
"I've got it mom. Everything OK?"
"Bus wreck. Needed more nurses." She nodded.
"Oh god, go!" I shook my head.
She and my dad kissed the top of my forehead.
"Leave your sister alone Connor!" Mom pointed in his face.
"Permission to lock my door?" I asked.
"Permission granted." Dad nodded.
"Seriously?" Connor threw his hands in the air.
"She's not you." Oaken laughed.
Connor glared at him.
"We love you guys. Listen to Jake. He will be home for dinner."
"Love you." The three of us yelled as they walked out the door.
I looked over at Connor and Mason.
They both had their arms crossed.
I pursed my lips and looked up at Cameron. "Run." I nodded and pulled him out and up the stairs.
"Olivia I swear to god!" I heard Connor running after us.
I pulled him in my room and locked my door.
"Unlock the door Oliver!" Mason yelled as the pounded.
"Go home!" I yelled back and flopped on my bed.
"Do they ever give up?" Cam laughed.
"No." I shook my head. "No they don't."

[On Hiatus due to health reasons] Synopsis: Fate has plans for everyone. There are many paths one can walk and many nodes one can unlock. Yet all mortal souls only start with one node. This has been the case for many years and while there are some records of people with more than one first node, these are as rare as wings on snails, roses made of air, or ropes made of dragon-hair. Elise Anker has two first nodes. She doesn't know why and the only one that could answer is an angry voice in her head. She hears it rarely and the voice is as helpful as a sword is effective against a Leviathan. She strives to become a mage, a knight or maybe something else entirely. But her nodes won't unlock and the angry voice tells her that she needs to find a worthy foe to kill. Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction.
